There have been many great baseball players that have played in the MLB. Some of those players consist of Barry Bonds, David Ortiz, Paul Konerko, and many more. All of these players were very talented and had undeniable love for the game of baseball, but the one that stood out to me was Derek Jeter. Derek Jeter was and is the best baseball player of all time because he impacted the MLB community in multiple ways. Derek Sanderson Jeter was born in Pequannock, New Jersey on June 19th, 1974. After his father decided he wanted to pursue a Ph.D. in psychology, him and his family moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan when Derek was just 4 years old. He tried out for basketball at his new high school (Kalamazoo Central High School) and he made the team. Even though me made the team, his biggest dream was to play baseball at the professional level. He had always dreamed about being the starting short stop for the New York Yankees. This dream became more of a reality during his last two years of high school when he batted over .500 and only striking out once as a senior. So to make sure people remembered his name he made very spectacular throws and had an outstanding “inside-out” swing. These things made Derek Jeter develop a reputation as a player who thrives in very tough situations. His outstanding glove work possibly may have helped him in executing one of the most memorable plays of his career. In the 2001 playoffs, Jeter ran down a wild throw from the outfield and flipped it with his glove to the catcher to get an out at home plate.
