In the game stage, we begin to understand that the people around us have responsibilities of their own and demands placed upon them as well, the world does not revolve solely around the individual. Majority of the writing in my major is going to include writing in a chart. Each chart will include information about the patient, and what went on during the appointment. A patient’s reason for the visit, health records, patient complaints, examinations, treatments, and things that the hygienist noticed during the visit are all examples of information that could be included in a chart. I have noticed that my dental hygienist will write about my visit on a computer in the room. It is important that the hygienist writes clearly, correct, and concise. Dentists, office staff, and insurance companies are examples of people who could potentially read these charts. So, it is important to make sure that each chart can be easy to read and understand. It is not good to have any sort of confusion in the charts, that way if a person reads them they do not make a mistake.
It focused about the different job environments that a Dental Hygiene can work in. When we hear Dental Hygiene we limit the job duties that a Dental hygienist can actually perform, but it is not only about dental cleaning and working at a dental office is beyond that. There is several benefits that come with pursuing a career in dental hygiene. One thing that stood out to me is that a Dental Hygienist are oral health educators and can also have the option to work in a school environment as an educator. It does not stop there, they also have the potential to be administrators of the job environment of their option. I learned in this video that a dental hygienist has to be patient and that they have to clean teeth and put sealants on them and showing the patient proper ways to brush their teeth. There is also X-rays involved as well. Their hours are very flexible and easy to work with. This video showed me that you have to be a very social person and very good and fast with your hands.

While most children would absolutely dread going to have their teeth cleaned, I was the kid always eager and ready to get to the dentist office. Throughout my journey of traveling through life, I have had several experiences that just called to me saying dental hygiene is definitely the career for me. Shadowing my own dental hygienists and having the privilege to be hands on and work with them was amazing. I enjoyed every minute from simply going over X-Rays to getting to know the patients personally.
For my senior project I have explored the career of a Dental Hygienist, who is a licensed dental professional who is registered with a dental care association within their country of practice. Their duty is to clean teeth, examine patients for signs and symptoms of oral diseases such as gingivitis, and provide other preventive dental care. They also educate patients on ways to improve and maintain good oral cavity health. Dental hygienist occupation has many important aspects to their job, which makes it a very rewarding occupation. According to my research dental hygienists is one of the top career choices in America, being so, over the years the career has evolved into a high demanding occupation.
In spite of the fact that many people within the dental industry are aware of the multiple routes one may take in terms of becoming a registered dental hygienist, I believe that earning a Bachelors of Science (BS) degree will allow me to better serve my community. Being able to confidently apply a vast amount of knowledge concerning the occupation of dental hygiene in its entirety will essentially make me better equipped to serve future patients on a daily basis. I have found that many people within health professions strive to achieve excellence when reflecting on their aspirations.
