Mao Zedong and Deng Xiaoping were both very successful Communist leaders that the people of China loved, but they both had their ups and downs. Mao Zedong was a Chinese Communist ruler who was born in 1893 and died in 1976. He founded the China’s Communist Party or CCP. Deng Xiaoping was a first generation of the Communist leaders. Deng Xiaoping lived from 1904 to 1997. He started to rule shortly after Mao died.
During the 1940s Mao and his army overthrew the Jieshi Nationalist’s. They beat them because of many reasons. The population of China loved the ideology of Communism at the time. Most of the population

He wanted to hold his communist view over the country. When protesters did not move Deng sent in the military that killed thousands of protesters. This act of violence showed how far the communist government would go to hold it’s power over China. Mao had his problems too. From 1958 to 1961 Mao tried his movement of the “Great Leap Forward” . He created a commune system that had thousands of villages to produce products such as food and building materials. But it did not work at all and they produced stuff that was not useful. The weather was very bad at the time and caused them to run short on food. Over 55 million people died because of the famine.
In conclusion Mao Zedong and Deng Xiaoping were both very successful Communist leaders that the people of China loved, but they both had their ups and downs. Both leaders Mao and Deng were both did some awful things during their runs as leaders of China. But overall Mao was the better leader even though 55 million people died under his control. He originally helps China so much by getting rid of Jieshi Nationalists. He improved the company and gave the peasants back their land. He gave women more rights. Overall Mao had initially helped the people of China and had a good run until the “Great Leap
Though Stalin was the main reason Russia is the strong country it is currently, countless people died. In fact, Stalin executed more people than Hitler killed, which is a horrific amount. China, like Russia, was not an advanced country in the least. The country was ruled by corrupt nationalists, who despised communists and killed them. This made China's change from a more nationalistic governing to a communist system very difficult and very bloody. Mao Zedong was a leader in the communist party during the civil war between nationalists and communists. He began as a strong and well-loved leader, quite opposite from Stalin. Mao Zedong would listen to others very well and try to understand their way of thinking, which made him a very successful and loved leader. But when the communist party took over China, he began to change into a hard-headed and less understanding man. Communism under Mao Zedong was beneficial for China. Mao Zedong pushed the citizens of China to be cooperative with each other and share all of their belongings. He also tried to gain the trust and love of all the lower class citizens by taking lands from the higher class citizens and giving them to lower class citizens. He killed many landlords, which the majority of Chinese love him. He was praised for his cruelty. So, in the end, Stalin and Mao Zedong became somewhat similar in their leadership, but Stalin was much more cruel.
Mao Zedong was a Chinese communist and father of the People’s Republic of China. Mao Zedong grew up farming and had arranged marriage. He got his power by getting a lot of support from peasants from China. The communists were led by Mao Zedong. The Chinese communists got their power in 1949. Mao Zedong did not make a better society economically because he did not improve the quality of lives for people because there wasn’t enough jobs. He did make a better society socially because he improved living conditions, women got freedom after the law, and expanded education.
Mao Zedong’s rise to political power as chairmen of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), was made possible by the failings of the GouMinDan (GMD). After the fall of the Qing dynasty, in 1911, China fell into disarray where warlords had power, rather than a national government. Sun Yat-sen began a nationalist group whose militaristic tacts allowed them to unite china under a singular party, the GMD. Despite many revolutionary promises very little positive changes were made by Chiang Kai-shek, who became leader of the GMD in 1925.However because of the party’s lack of political knowledge and poor socio-economic abilities the GMD’s rule was a failure. Mao used this to project his own ideology on China in the form of Maoism. Mao’s ability to take advantage of China’s bad situation allowed him to receive the support he required in order to rise to power.
Through out all of history we have seen so many heroes and villains all over the world. But one place in particular was in China, with a leader who goes by the name of Mao Zedong. Mao Zedong was a well-known communist leader in china who actually lead the Chinese Communist Party. He is one of the most important people/historical figures in history. At first he was helping China at the beginning of his ruling, nut then his actions had cause China to completely fall and breakout into violence and complete chaos!! Changing the views of his people because whatever good he had done did not matter anymore from his great down fall. During his ruling though some believed that Mao
Mao Zedong has been credited as one of the most important figures during the Cold War, because he led many influential events and overall led China through the Cold War. He had many dreams and wishes for China, involving communism and changes for the better of the nation. He knew how to please his country and pinpoint different areas where China needed improvement, and carry out plans that would improve China as a whole. Mao Zedong was one of China’s most courageous and powerful leaders, and this was shown through his background of leadership in the Chinese Civil War and the Long March, and how he maintained his visions and aspirations for China.
Also, both Stalin and Mao were famous and controversial leaders in the 20th century. They brought success to their countries but also caused harms to it. This topic actually provides a great chance to have an sight into two valuable leaders and quest their ups and downs in USSR and China respectively.
This paper aims to find out the differences between the developmental strategies of Mao Zedong and Deng Xiaoping. Mao Zedong and Deng Xiaoping are important characters of China's history. Both great leaders and both tried to bring about reform with China. In addition, through the facts that society in China has been changing in recent decades, evaluate the achievements of each in the contribution to economic and social development of China.
China's transition from the leadership under the iron fist of Mao Zedong to the more liberal Deng Xiao Ping gave the People's Republic a gradual increase in economic freedom while maintaining political stability. During Mao's regime, the country focused on bolstering and serving the community, while subsequently encumbering individual growth and prosperity. Deng advocated a more capitalist economic ideology, which established China as an economic force in the global community while endowing its citizens with more liberties and luxuries than previously granted.
Over the course of Mao’s leadership from 1949 until his death in 1976 we can see the significance of his leadership and what made him a good and bad leader. Mao had made some very good decisions to help certain groups but also made some very bad decisions that paid the price, in some cases killing millions. Due to the social and economic changes that then followed by a significant increase in the population and weak leadership that led to rebellions from 1911 that saw the end of 3500years of rule by the Chinese imperial dynasties. The social and economic chaos then led to the formation of two political parties. The CCP, led by Mao Zedong and the GMD led by Chiang Kai Shek. Mao and his party defeated the GMD in 1949 bringing Mao into power. Mao’s main goal was to turn China into a pure communist country. Over the course of Mao’s leadership he did this by making significant social, economic and political changes to the Chinese way of life. However due to his poor leadership and the faults that he made it caused people to oppose him and get in the way of his goal. That is why in 1966 Mao decided to assert his beliefs through a series of decisions, which came to be known as the Cultural Revolution. The Cultural Revolution was a hard time for many people throughout China as Mao enforced many things upon them to achieve his aim of removing capitalism. Mao used the youth of China to be that
His plan-the reason everything went downhill. Poor Mao, he just wanted a turning point in the cold war. But oh lord, did it not work out. The “great leap forward” have you ever heard the term, “Rome wasn't built in a day” well, not for our good buddy Mao though. It was built in a day in fact over just a few seconds. Instead of causally building an industrial empire slowly he wanted it now, and he wanted it fast. So, what’d he do?! Oh, nothing much really, just forced a bunch of citizens to work full time in factories with little to no pay, hardly enough food, and an over active criminal justice system. People were either starved, beaten, or worked to death. It was estimated that 45,000,000 people died in just 4 years from his plan. The horrors of what he did were worse than Hitler and almost Stalin’s genocide. Mao wanted an industrial empire so badly that what he did was seen as a genocide and a crime against humanity. This is why history regard Mao as a villain even though he forced a large amount of his country to see him as a hero through the brainwashing of the young, and Stockholm syndrome. The kids were told that he was a hero and told of all of the good things that he had done. The older that had actually lived to witness what he did were struck with fear to even try to oppose him. Of Course they waited until he died to take over and reverse and fix what he had done. Everything that Mao had
Mao Zedong and His Communist Takeover of China Mao Zedong was born in Shaoshan on December 26, 1893, and he died September 9, 1976. He loved to learn and sought an education though his Father did not want him to get one. Mao Zedong took over China through communist peasant uprisings and a Chinese Civil War, and his rule led to 65 million Chinese being killed as a result of Mao trying to make China Socialist. One of the things that led to Mao Zedong becoming the dictator of China were the peasants uprisings he led causing the civil war.
Deng Xiaoping, Chinese communist leader, who considered as one of the most significant and influential leaders in Chinese history during 20 century. He joined Chinese Communist Party in the early age and served as a political officer in the party. However, he was purged from the communist party during the Cultural Revolution, which because his ideology was not praised by Mao Zedong. By 1977, he returned to the party and became the most powerful leader in People Republic of China from 1970s until his death in 1997.
In 1949 Mao Zedong and his communist revolutionaries had won control of China after a civil war that had lasted more than 20 years. Mao’s revolution was based on a society where the workers control the government. During this time China was a substandard country due to the years of war, disease, and natural disaster. To help make china stronger Mao called for couples to have more babies because babies equal more workers and more work leads to a stronger China. To help economically, people were forced to abandon farming and help aid an industrial China, thus known as The Great Leap Forward. With the replacing of farms, China was reconciled to food shortages, which then led to the killing of an estimated 30 million people. Therefore mao turned
Deng Xiaoping has been the individual with the most impact on China since the 1970’s. Along with Mao Zedong and Zhou Enlai, he is looked at as one of the key figures in evolution of communism in China . Deng Xiaoping will be remembered as a national hero, but this was not always the case. The real story of Deng includes the fact that, on more than one occasion, his peers ostracized him. During his lifetime he has been a part of the many changes in China throughout the twentieth century. He was by Mao Zedong’s side through all of the struggles of the Chinese Communist Party; battling with Chiang Kai-shek and the Guomindang over
Both Mao and Deng had brought various achievements to China. However, Deng was more successful in modernizing China and developing the economy as well as advancing the educational level of Chinese. Under Deng’s rule, China has a better relationship with other countries. The country was prospering and people enjoyed a better livelihood. Mao was an important leader for establishing the PRC and he greatly influenced China politically.
