Dillard's purpose in this narrative is to encourage adults to be more tolerant of children who get into trouble. Dillard wants adults to look back and remember all the fun they had as kids and to remember how much trouble they got into also. Dillard uses the man who chased her as an example. The man chased them, for what seemed forever, but he didn't get mad at them or lecture them, he just caught them and said "You stupid kids" and let them go.

Erik Larson uses repetition to tell his readers how much it would take for Olmsted to complete his task on time and how stressful it was. Larson uses the would “if” to communicate to his readers that there is a chance that everything could work out but “if” one of these does not, then they fail. By repeating “if” repeatedly Larson’s readers understand that there are many different things that, in order for the fair to be complete on time, need to go right. So by using this repetition Larson communicates to his readers how stressed they were about the fair. Therefore, this repetition that Erik Larson uses allows his readers to understand how stressed they all were about all the factors that needed to go right in order for the fair to be completed

Many jobs and careers are quickly fleeing. It is projected that in the fall of 2017, jobs will grow 5.8 percent (“Job Outlook: Hiring for U.S. Jobs Expected to Be Flat.”). Compared to the past six years, Fall 2017 will be the lowest. With job opportunities decreasing, Mary Whyte wanted to capture the jobs and the people working them. To do so she created an art exhibit titled, “Working South”. Whyte captured people and fleeing jobs using watercolors and elaborate frames that her husband made.

One word to describe Griffith is.. Eccentric. She is quite abnormal compared to her kin. Seventeen young lives taken by one of the most infamous serial killers in the history of the United States; Jeffrey Lionel Dahmer. Jeffrey Dahmer was much more than a murderer; he raped, ate, and sometimes preserved certain body parts of his victims. But, why? What drove this man to commit such gory and violent crimes? As a child, Dahmer experienced severe negligence by his parents. His mother was a stay-at-home mom (and psychologically ill) and his father was a student at Marquette University. Jeffery’s father traveled for his studies and was never in the household. This engendered his mother’s desire for her husband’s affection but never received it due to his absence. The problems that existed between them provoked a lack of the childhood care that young Jeffery needed. He was often lonely and excluded himself from people. As a child, Dahmer had an extreme and odd fascination in the dismemberment of animals. His parents never gave it much attention and thought this interest was very normal. There are many things that have been debated on for years and the people still haven’t come close to a decision. Among these topics is the legalization of marijuana. Marijuana also referred to as cannabis has become this big controversy topic dividing the nation into two. One side is all for the legalization of marijuana, others are very against it.
