A. According to Meineke, the average yearly cost of oil changes is about $120 a year. That’s roughly $30-$40 every 3 months. Now compare that to the cost of damages for not maintaining a vehicles engine which can cost up to $4000. So its best to keep your engine up to date with routine
Oil lubricates the moving parts that are within the engine. It also absorbs heat so that the engine doesn’t overheat. Your oil needs to be changed every 3,000 to 5,000 miles. If you would rather change it yourself instead of taking it in somewhere to be done, follow these steps.
Owning a car is usually a significant investment for an individual. Changing the oil on your car plays an important part to help keep it functioning at peak performance and to ensure that your vehicle last for many miles. You might wonder how often does the oil need changing. Well, manufactures advise that the oil is changed every 3,000 miles or every three months, whichever occurs first. Changing the oil is not an extremely difficult task, but it is always good to have someone else there, who has done this before, to help if needed. I would also suggest finding an outfit you wouldn’t mind getting dirty and a pair of rubber gloves to keep your hands clean.
When the average person's car needs an oil change we drive to a Quick Lube and have it done in 20 minutes. Another alternative would be to change the oil your self, this is a fairly simple process, most people with some common sense and some basic hand tools can do it at home on a weekend.

B. Almost everyone that owns a vehicle has had to take their vehicle in to a mechanic to get their oil change on their car. But if you want to save time and money you can always do it yourself.
In the winter only, I recommend letting your vehicle run a few minutes before starting. The oil is thicker when it is colder so when the vehicle runs it will warm the oil, making the oil flow easier. With the car off, safely elevate the vehicle with a jack or a set of ramps. Next, you want to align the bucket so it is under the oil pan plug. Proceed to unscrew the plug with the box end wrench. Be very careful not to be burned by the oil, because it may be hot. Do not drop the plug in the oil. Completely take off the plug and let the oil drain into the bucket. The next step is to use an oil filter wrench, to unscrew the old oil filter. The oil filter is usually a three to five inch tall cylindrical canister located relatively close to the oil pan. When the oil filter is completely off, dump any remaining oil from it into the bucket. When it is empty make sure to remove the gasket. The gasket is a rubber ring around the edge of the filter. Once everything is completed, come out from underneath the vehicle and set aside the old filter. Take the new oil filter out of the box and make sure it looks like the old filter. Take a little bit of the new oil into clean hands and smear it around the gasket of the new filter. This is done to “wake up” the gasket so it has an even seal when it is attached to the vehicle. Make sure to not get any foreign particles into the filter such as sand or dirt. Bring the new oil filter back underneath
The major components of a car consist of the engine, transmission, brakes, suspension, and tires. The purpose of this essay is to guide you through the process of changing the oil in your car's engine.
Changing your engine oil is one of the single most important vehicle maintenance acts you can perform. Over time the oil breaks down and no longer performs its job the way it did when it was new. Your engine 's oil helps absorb heat from the engine and lubricates moving metal parts that would otherwise grind together. As you drive, the oil pump circulates oil within your engine and the oil filter catches the deposits that build up over time. The oil filter performs its own type of car maintenance by keeping the oil clean. But as the oil gets older, the number of deposits in the oil continues to build and the filter is unable to extract all of the material. When this happens, the color of the oil changes and it indicates the oil should be
There is nothing better than having the self-satisfaction of doing something by yourself. If you don’t learn how to change your oil in your car, you could have to spend thousands of dollars on your car’s engine, or go to the auto parts store and spend around thirty dollars on oil and an oil filter. So listen up and save a couple dollars by learning how to change your own oil in your car.
Gasoline is a flammable liquid that is made from the refinement of petroleum or better known as crude oil. It helps fuel cars, farm machinery, planes and other type of engines. What is petroleum? It’s a fossil fuel that supplies energy around the world than any other source out there. Petroleum, including gasoline is primarily a mixture between hydrocarbons and small amounts of other substances. In 1994, its known that the United States used up to 7,587,00 barrels of oil a day which concludes that America is the worlds largest consumer in oil. The majority of today’s crude oil is located along side the Persian Gulf Basin with some amounts in Alaska and in

Before pouring new oil into the engine block, the drainage bolt must be placed back into the car’s oil pan with the 10-millimeter socket wrench. This assures the new oil will not drip out into the old oil. To replace the old filter with a new one, the new oil must first be applied to the seal of the new filter. This lubes the seal on the new filter so it will not break due to friction. If it does break, the filter will leak and a new oil change will be required. Pouring the new oil in is a relatively easy step compared to all the other steps. To pour the new oil in, the engine oil cap must be removed. The recommended amount of oil and oil type, which is different for every car, can be found in the owners-manual or on the car dealer’s website. For instance, if the recommended amount of oil is 8 quarts, pour in 8 quarts, which can be measured by bottles (usually sold in 2 quart bottles), through a funnel into the engine block.
