Fear. The number one emotion that runs most of our lives. No matter how many times we try to avoid it, it just seems to keep coming back. Kate Winslet is one of my favorite actresses and she definitely knows what it's like to feel fear. As she has stated many times, some of the toughest roles she's played in films began with the feeling of fear. She would read a script and think to herself, "Wow, I'm scared to take this role. I don't know if I can do this." That thought, however, is exactly what led her to do it and as is turns out, the roles she feared the most turned out to be her best and even earned her many high profile awards, including the ultimate Academy Award.
Kate said this entry's quote when she was fearfully climbing a mountain on the adventure reality television show, Running Wild with Bear Grylls. These words of wisdom talk about how it's a good thing when a person feels fear if it involves going after something he or she really wants. It means that person is facing that fear and when a fear is faced, it's being challenged. Fear will not go away permanently until we keep challenging it and getting past it. Although it may seem like it goes away when you decide to not take a risk, it's only temporary. It's still locked in your core waiting to come out again the second you encounter another risk that you really want to take. If we're not feeling fearful, we're not doing something that is worth the risk.

That fear stems from the natural fight or flight reaction our body has to protect us from serious harm. The fear I'm talking about is the fear that we learned as children. It's the fear we learned from society and the situations we had to go through. It's the fear that brainwashes our minds and tells us we aren't worth that risk, that we will fail. This is an unnatural fear and whether we know it or not, it rules our lives in many
Fear is a feeling created in a response to a perceived danger. Fear can produce pleasure, heighten awareness, be in the form of phobia, a fear of the unknown and an instinctual response to danger.
Fear is something everyone feels. Although this feeling varies from person to person, all people have fears deep down that cause strong reactions. These reactions can be both physical and mental in nature, causing a unique experience not compatible with any other emotions. Fear gives the body unique responses in the form of instinctual reactions, ecstasy, and panic. First of all, the body has a distinct reaction to fear in many forms.
Fear just gets in the way and we need to overcome what it brings us. By facing our fears, we gain confidence in what we can do. It's like a motivation factor that you have to win over. Those who cannot face their fears are stuck trying to move on with life. In the Thomas Hobbs excerpt, it states, “Fear of oppression disposes a man to anticipate or to seek aid by society; for there is no other way by which a man can secure his life and liberty…”.
Being fearful about something can manipulate your mind to thinking of things that aren't actually present. Fear can get to the best of us at times and can make a person feel small and alone, even though they’re in a group with others facing the same situation. Shirley Jackson the author of The Haunting of Hill House shows this exact situation of fear taking over a person by showing it in the main character, a young woman named Eleanor, who comes from a small town which who was invited to visit the Hill House by a doctor named Dr. Montague to study what really goes on in the house. Throughout the story Eleanor, shows many different types of personalities which can go from being serious to energetic in a heartbeat which makes the story
We humans especially, fear many different things: death, disease, old age, commitment, noises in the night, pain, responsibility, work, being too fat or too thin, or any number of other things. Some of our fears are reasonable and rationale, like the fear for our safety so we lock our doors at night, never walk alone on dark streets, and
I’ve always thought fear was an intangible thing; an idea that cannot be touched or heard. How strange then, that I feel it in my bones and hear it in the voices and see it in the faces of all those misfortunates who were attendants of the plane crash alongside me. Today is the day I realize fear is much more than an emotion. I believe the actions we take define us; actions taken in fear more so. Fear blinds us, reveals us, immobilizes us, but in some cases, in my case, fear is a catalyst for bravery and selflessness.
Fear is a chain reaction triggered in the brain. It starts as a stress inducing stimulus then ends as a letting go of chemicals which is known as the “fight or flight” response. The chemical that were released triggers a racing heart, fast breathing, and energized muscles. The stimulus could be anything from a spider to a video game. Multiple parts of the brain are used including the Thalamus, Amygdala, Sensory Cortex, Hippocampus, and the Hypothalamus.
Fear. Is it a way to motivate someone to get something done or get them to do something? Yes. It is a great way to get someone to do something and motivate them to do something. Threatening someone within an inch of their life would definitely get them doing whatever you tell them or ask them to do. If I was put into a situation where I was forced to use fear to get someone to do something I would and personally if someone used my fears to do something I would definitely do whatever they asked of me.
What is fear? Fear is a feeling induced by perceived danger or threat that occurs in certain 7 types of organisms , which causes a change in behavior or feeling. I have always for some reason had a fear of stalkers and rape. It has just always been a very big fear of mine. Just think, when you are out and about there is someone out there being kidnapped and the people doing it don’t think about their family. Usually all they want is money or to rape them. So , whenever I am at the store I am always aware of my surroundings because obviously I don’t want anything bad to happen to me or my siblings. I found that a scientific word for being scared of rape or kidnapped is virgivitiphobia. William sleator shows that martin is unable to overcome
Another cause for people having fear is the past experiences they have had. Generally, if something bad has happened to somebody, they try to forget about it and/or they try to make sure it never happens again. However, in doing so, they still have a subconscious fear that something similar to the terrible event they’ve experienced may somehow manage to happen again, especially if there are a few similarities between the past event and the current situation. For example, if a man had surgery for his heart to perform better and he nearly died, he may be very reluctant to ever have surgery to his heart or any other body part(s) again.
Fear has come to permeate the daily life of our generation. We have become very adept at putting on a brave face which is admirable but ill-advised. We refuse to open up or admit our fear, because we don’t want to appear weak to those around us. But every day, all of us go through the same fear. Some days are better than others of course but each and every day we have something that worries us. Something that we may work to hide, and may succeed in hiding from the world and even ourselves for a time. But it is there nonetheless. Each of us deals with stress, pain and fear that is hard for others to understand. We may not even understand it ourselves frankly.
Fear to me is a fascinating emotion. People take it as a negative, but to me it's there for basic survival. Fear can also make people bond. After 9/11, the whole country was in fear. Yet, for the first time I can remember, the whole country was a united one.
I have looked back in my life and realized how many times fear has stopped me from doing something I would've regretted. Many of those actions could have resulted in death but my fear of the outcome stopped me from doing it. All of us have that gut feeling deep down, telling us, plain and simple, if it is a bad or good idea. Without that, we would have no decision making skills. Leading to many decisions that do not end well.
Fear is the number one obstacle everyone must overcome at some point in their life. When the word fear is brought up I like to think of past situations that I experienced. There are many different methods used to conquer and learn from our fears such and exposure therapy, having a growth mindset, and thinking positive. For example, when I was younger fear was my worst enemy, School was the main reason that caused my fear. My fear of failure was my biggest obstacle growing up so I used that as a method to learn from my fears.
An unpleasant emotion or feeling caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat : Fear. Fear is a strong word, it can mean a variety of things and lead to a variety of things depending on who you are. My fear caused me to shake and tremble as if the world was coming to an end. It makes me feel safe around no one. I look back on my life and ask myself, was it all worth it for this? It makes me shrink and fall the size of of a humming bird. My stomach starts to feel like it never has before. My head is spinning in circles and my hands are trembling to the point where I think they might fall off.
