Definition Essay: How Do You Define Success?

There are many different understandings of what success is. Some relate success to money, others relate success to happiness, but it all depends on the type of person.

Success to me is linked with happiness and stability. Although I am still in the process of finding my “x,” lessons taught by my parents, and observing the culture and environment around me have played a big role in my current definition of success My physics teacher passed on something he learned from a monk once. He told me, life comes down to three things. Doing what you love.

How do you define Success? Success is defined by several different positive achievements in a persons life. For example, Graduating college, getting a high paying job and having a profitable business are only a few popular definitions of success.

When it comes time to defining success there are plenty of ways that success can be put into a definition. The main definition that I go by for the word success is that if you aren’t doing a career that makes you happy no matter what they pay grade is then you have not reach success. The definition that I provided means that it doesn’t always have to be about making a certain wage but what you are doing in life it needs to be a career you are excited to do every morning. You a person become successful or have success you will see it in their face because they will be more than happy to work at any time or even work over time, if they have too. What is success? Success is achieving your goals in life. It means you know that you made it. To keep going and never stop trying. People who are a success never stop trying, even now they keep trying, athletes, business people, anyone. We all want to be a success. But if you just give up, you can never be one.

What does success mean to me? It means that you can have or make big goals. In my way you can accomplish anything. To some people it may not. Anyone can accomplish anything if you just believe in yourself.

My definition of success is happiness. When you have the feeling of fulfillment and greatness on what you have done to get you where you are. All the ups and downs you went through to be on top. Success can be different to everyone. To me success comes in the little things I accomplish that makes me want to dream bigger and have bigger goals to accomplish. When I graduated High school I felt very excited and happy that I completed a chapter of my life. I felt very successful for being able to graduate in 3 years. Starting my next chapter and soaring for my next goal in life. I fulfilled my high school goals in sports by setting new records, placing in the state championship for track & field, and being able to continue on doing what I love

What is the definition of success? Success has many definitions for some it is having a job for others it is having a lot of money. To succeed it takes hard work and dedication that is why a lot of people fail. Everybody has goals success is achieving those goals. My goals are to graduate college with a bachelor’s degree, to become an accountant, and to supply for my future family.

I define success as, whatever you want to be. I think that’s why it’s so hard for us to narrow down to just one meaning. But again, the meaning of this word and concept is endless. I never really gave the term that much thought until now. It’s annoying though that the media tries their best to make it seem like success, is measured by money and shit. In California, success is defined by happiness, and happiness typically involves the person having a lot of money. But it’s easier said than done. The majority of the people in California, can’t even afford to really live there and depending on their race, class, and gender they’re restricted from moving up in the pyramid. Today in our society success is determined by many things because it does not have a set definition, it depends on an individual's personal opinion, and varies between everyone. Success is the fuel that drives and motivates people to keep improving and getting better, it can also help give life meaning. As you grow and get older the way you define success can change as you experience new things and change the way you think. People have defined success in regard to who has the most wealth and material possessions, relationships, and as having accomplished a goal or purpose.

Success is a word that really hard to define, because everyone will have a different definition for this word. In fact, there no exact definition for the word "success". For a student, maybe the success means to pass all courses of the semester; for a business man, signing a importance contract and get a lot of money are successes; and for a president, leading the country to develop and make the people have a better life are success. What is success? Is it the process of doing a task and receiving a positive result acceptable amongst the community, or is it simply achieving ones own personal goals? If you ask different people what success is to them, you would most likely get a variety of definitions. Some might say that success has commenced when one has finally gotten that $200,000 dream car in one’s garage. Others might say that their belief of success has established when one has found true happiness in life. Someone could be extremely wealthy, but at the same time, extremely destroyed and confused inside. Would you still consider this success? Success can be interpreted in several different ways. However, true success should not only be based upon wealth and materialistic goods, but rather on bliss and contentment.
