Q: Dee Van Zyl, it is so wonderful to meet such a striving artist today.
A: Thank you sir, I am happy to be here to speak about my retirement.
Q: Such a shame that you have to leave your work in visual arts, what do you think is next for you in your retirement?
A: Well, I can’t say that I actually retired from art. Art is something I have always done as a hobby, but, I was lucky enough to make money off of an activity that I love to do.
Q: Why would you want to retire from earning an income off of undertaking what you enjoy?
A: As I very much appreciate making beautiful illustrations, the benefit became the issue, which is making money. In time, I realized how much stress was pressured onto me for me to finish new pieces of art every week. For me to have a

The two met in university which eventually led to their marriage, in South Africa. Ultimately, with my father being a highly trained doctor, they decided that they will be more successful in Canada, where healthcare offers greater pay. After living in Winnipeg for a few years, I was born! From Winnipeg, we continued to Red Deer, which is where my sister entered the world three years after me. Finally, we ended in Rocky Mountain House, where we had two houses before settling into a cottage that we would live in for 10 years.
Q: And then you went on to Okotoks?
A: Correct. I left when I was 13, leaving everything I had ever known behind me. It was a big change but it has generated success.
Q: After all of this change from South Africa to Okotoks, where did you decide to continue your journey?
A: After graduating Strathcona Tweedsmuir School, I continued to go to the Royal College of Art which is located in London in The United Kingdom. It has the reputation of being one of the greatest colleges to attend for art and design and I was very fortunate to be able to be

My honest reaction to Charles Van Doren pretending to know the answers on a television show but was in fact given the answers is that it doesn't surprise me that the game show was rigged. Television networks want ratings; all that ever seems to matter anymore is money. I think Charles Van Doren did what most people would have done if given the opportunity. By partaking in being coached, he became a celebrity, walked away a large amount of money, and was provided with opportunities he may have never had available to him without his new found celebrity.
Some of the residents of Botany say this suburb is the most underrated in Sydney. This area is growing as people relocate from suburbs like Coogee, Mascot, and Maroubra when they realize that they can enjoy the value of a quiet, simple life without giving up the excitement of being close to the city whenever they want. This has driven up house prices, but the quality of life in Botany is worth it. What is there to do and see in this suburb?
“My mum going through cancer and parents getting divorced I think created a need for some sort of outlet. I pretty much woke up one day and decided to be a director.”
Eventually I thought of voice acting, where I could voice a character. I was in very good health in my 80s, so this wasn't too hard or tiring for me. I ended up voicing the very well known TV show, “Family Guy”. I voiced the character called Evelyn in the episode called "Moms the World". That would be my last career move.Lauren Bacall." It has been discovered that, “Nearly three decades ago, 61.1% of workers said they liked their jobs. That number has slid over time, reaching an all-time low in 2010 following the Great Recession, when only 42.6% of workers said they were satisfied in their jobs,” due to the findings of The Conference Board Job Satisfaction survey (Adams). As an achiever who strives to experience excitement and adventure in life, I find the lack of job satisfaction for most Americans to be disappointing. Having more than a job—having a career—in life is essential to maintaining happiness and allowing self-growth as an adult. It is necessary that every person does something they wish to accomplish during their life or feel the need to do to satisfy the means of their existence. After months of remaining undecided on my desired career that would necessarily fulfil my personal means, I have directed my studying toward the goal of being an art therapist. This uncommon occupation is described as, “An integrative mental health profession that combines knowledge and understanding of human development and psychological theories and techniques with visual arts and the creative process to provide a unique approach for helping clients improve psychological health, cognitive abilities, and sensory-motor functions” (“About us”).
During my sophomore year, after all the lectures given and the pressure placed on my shoulders to form a decision as to what I want to do with myself when I graduate, I came to the conclusion that if I couldn’t make a living off of art, that I could inspire future generations in a different way. I’m a junior now, and I may not have it all figured out, but at least I have an idea as to what I desire to accomplish in my lifetime. I became an American when I entered this world 16 years ago, and since then my duty to my country, is the same in which I owe to future generations, to past generations, and to my own. My responsibility to America is to inspire.
As a child I enjoyed drawing several objects, and I felt that I had a rare gift to express life through art. I hope to reinvest my time back into my childhood hobby upon graduation later this year.
I was ( in my previous life) a fashion designer for over 20 years. I had done hundreds of graphics for
Answer: There are so many different fields of makeup artistry, but I want to be in fashion. Shoots, editorials, and red carpet events. I’m applying for an internship and a few different magazines: Teen Vogue, W, and Allure. I’m working on my blog which is launching this Spring and am building my portfolio in the meantime.
Ever since I was a child, art has been a passion of mine. Art has followed me from childhood to adulthood, and I have still remained as passionate about it as when I was first introduced to it. Although many aspects of my art have changed over time, there still remains some similarities in my motivation, methods, and mediums.
For four months I gave it my all. Every day I dove into my art with a specific goal aimed at improvement and diversifying my portfolio. I got in contact with professionals in the industry and
From a young age I’ve always known I wanted to peruse a creative career. My mother is an Interior Designer with her own business so I grew up around artistically driven minds. My parents always encouraged art education in my sister and I’s life, we spent our childhood wondering around art galleries and museums. Through these experiences, I gained a greater appreciation for art and creativity. My dream career and life goal is to be a creative design director for a magazine publication.
Art. To me is something undefinable, what I want my art to show you is a piece of myself and a piece of yourself. Something we can all relate to; a memory, a song, a poem, art should make you feel something. Art is a gift, a tool we can use to hide beauty in ordinary places and things. I want to broaden my understanding of design and the world that art is beyond my knowledge and experiences. Because my love for creating burns so bright and deep within me, I am determined to find a career path that will allow me to explore the world of design and art every day. A number of art forms are endless and this seems like a daunting task to find just one path that can express the enjoyment and involvement I want to have with art. Throughout my life I have been endlessly drawing, painting, sculpting and creating--often times I feel almost cursed with such talent to create because the ability seems endless. I have taken a number of art classes exploring my passions as a High School Student and created many different types of works including oil, acrylic, and watercolor paintings; etching, embossed, and screen printmaking; charcoal, graphite, and pastel drawings; Sculpting with ceramics and plaster as well as wheel pieces. I find that there is few mediums I have yet to experiment with. I have become accustomed to Acrylic paintings as I have recently started to create paintings and sell them to community members. I participated in a local art fair and it opened my eyes to what art
