Decision-making is a fundamental component to any successful business. I chose the topic “Managerial Decision Making” because informed decisions are critical in order for managers to drive a profitable and sustainable business. Many business analysts measure an organization’s performance on their level of attained profit. The profits companies produce based on their business arrangements and profitable business deals, permit them to allocate benchmarks within the company to set financial goals for shareholders and investors, as well as permitting them to structure and design detailed financial budgets within the organization. A budget is a plan that impacts the financial decision making of the firm or organization. Cash budgeting is a critical component of a successful business because having the right cash available will enable business managers to make the right decisions at the right time, in a healthy and informed manner. Behind those profits, managers have to make strategic decisions in plotting their company’s path in achieving its purposes as directed by the top-level management. However, in some cases when managers and decision makers have substantial information prior to them making decisions, they sometimes may come up short with making the correct strategic decision for the organizations. This research paper is a brief discussion of budget management analysis. Budgeting is the key to financial management, and is the key to translates an organization goals or plan into money. Budgeting is a rough estimate of how much a company will need to get their work done, and provides the basis for evaluating performance, a source of motivation, coordinating business activities, a tool for management communication and instructions to employees. Without a budget an organization would be like a driver, driving blinded without instructions or any sense of direction, that’s how important a budget is to every organization and individual likewise (Clark, 2005).
Budgeting systems turn managers’ perspectives forward and by looking to the future and planning, managers are able to anticipate and correct potential problems before they arise (Horngren, Foster & Datar, 2000).
