Dear Future Antioch Upperclassmen:
I am writing to give you some advice that I wish I had known coming into my senior year. To begin, Congratulations for successfully making it this far in your high school journey. For some, this experience flies by and is the best time of their lives. For others, the opposite is true; however, it is such a blessing to be able to say that you are on the track to graduation, and you may not realize it, but this year will be full of challenges that you may or may not choose to take on.
In my case, I chose to take as many advanced placement courses as I could, because I have only taken honors and advanced placement level classes since eighth grade (excluding extracurricular courses). Because I chose this pathway

Computer applications, service learning, and peer tutoring, were the classes that I chose to take in order to fill my schedule gaps. My favorite of the three by far, was peer tutoring.
Peer tutoring, is simply helping your peers to the best of your ability, with a subject that they are struggling with or just want justification on. I personally have been tutoring others since I was in seventh grade when I began helping elementary school aged children with their homework after school at a community center near my middle school. Tutoring became a newly found passion of mine at that time, and I have enjoyed the opportunity ever since. When I saw that Antioch offered tutoring as a senior class, I was ecstatic, and I signed up immediately. If I am not mistaken, similar to signing up for service learning, one must have a teacher recommendation to take this particular course. There may be other guidelines that I am not aware of at the time, but believe me, taking peer tutoring is well worth it. As a senior, you have to worry about applying to colleges or jobs, applying for scholarships, getting community service hours, working, finishing your capstone project, taking senior pictures, making invitations and announcements, finding internships, and so much
August 15, 2013 was the date that I entered high school. I had high hopes for the upcoming high school years to be my best years ever since I was in sixth grade. I expected that I can make more friends, join more club activities, and can choose classes that I really like. Although I was very enthusiastic and eager to start the all new school years, I also had a lot of worries and confusion about it also. The night before I start my freshmen year, the thoughts of failing classes, and be able to graduate high school kept
When junior year ended last summer, I felt like I knew exactly what was coming my way-- after all, I watched three different groups of my friends go through senior years of their own. It was finally my turn to experience senior year, something it seemed I had known about for years, and I felt like senior year would be easygoing and uneventful. Now, it has taken just a few short months to realize how incorrect I was. If senior year has taught me anything, it is that one never really knows what comes next for them, even if they have a good idea. The monumental highs, as well as the deepest of lows, have kept me on my toes throughout my senior year.
I have mostly focused on taking science and math classes since I will need that knowledge the most while attending college and working. Taking advanced and extra classes has cut into my free time and made it difficult for me to do anything simply for fun, but I expect that they will pay off in the future by reducing the amount of time I have to invest in things I do not want to work on and allowing me to focus on learning about cyber
Number one : Your grades are above all most important. Don’t abuse free time, use it to get a little work done then laugh with your friends. Pay attention in class and please please please listen closely to your teachers. Number two: Love your class. It makes life so much easier. You're in a small school, as long as you're not completely weird you’ll fit in. Friends are essential to a smooth ride through high school. Plus if you get behind on an assignment they can help you catch up. Finally number three: Just keep going. High school will not last forever and it will get straight up depressing at some point, but by all means don’t give up, it’s gonna be ok, and you’ll get through it. It’s been a wild ride for me. I wish you and whoever reads this the best of luck and the funnest of
Congratulations on this turning point - going to college and entering a new phase of your life! My name is Shayne and I am currently going to the 10th grade at Mission San Jose High School. The past year as a freshman in a big school was intimidating and challenging. I struggled and finally realized that I needed to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. After I researched and enrolled in this class, I believe that that the sky's the limit for me. I was given the tools to be able to identify my weaknesses and overcome it. So I can put myself in your shoes and although your junior, I would like to give you a few words of advice on stepping into this new chapter of your life as a new student at Ohlone. I want you to know that
I enjoyed tutoring when my students fully understood how to find the solution for the problem and start enjoying Math. Peer tutoring is interesting for me and for my students as Math become enjoyable by practicing repeatedly. The more you practice and remember simple steps, the more you fall in love with Math.
I have been a part of honors, Pre- Advanced Placement, and Advanced Placement classes Since the ninth grade at Thompson High School in Alabaster, Alabama. Thanks to these higher level courses I have gained a great amount of discipline and knowledge. Maintaining a balance between school and my other activities has not always been easy. I have had to manage my priorities in several instances in order to do well in school.
Freshmen this is a time to just be yourself, in middle school it was all about popularity and contrary to the movies that really doesn't matter at all in high school. Hang out with new people, try new things get a feel of what matters to you, you don't have to hang out with the same people you did or like the same things you did it honestly is a great year to discover more about yourself. ALSO DO NOT SLACK OFF AND NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR GRADES, you may think ahh I have 3 more years to make it up but really that sets the tone and trust me its really hard to get your GPA up. Sophomores you are beginning to realize who your friends are and what you might enjoy doing, I'd say its a good year to continue trying things but also start to get serious about things that mean a lot to you, for instance if you joined a drawing and painting class and realize its something you really enjoy keep signing up for those classes or clubs and start to really invest time and energy into it. I'm not encouraging it but if there is any year to not do your best or kinda chill this is the
Dear Future Grandchildren, Our world is changing faster than it ever has before. With new technology coming out seemingly every year, I have no doubt that you will miss out on a simpler time. So, I have taken it upon myself to write you this letter detailing the various things I used to do as a child as well as what has occurred since my birth. Perhaps some of these activities are still conducted fifty years from now, though something tells me you will be reading this letter on your iPhone 22S instead of the Macbook Air I wrote it on, and perhaps what we are fighting for now has come to a conclusion by time you are born. When I was small, I didn't have an iPhone, computer, or any other form of technology to play with. My entertainment was the
I just can’t believe there is only few more days of high school left. As the days are getting closer and closer, it's getting sad. I still remember the day I stepped into Maine East High School as a Freshman, at that time, all I wished for was to graduate from this school with good grades. High school was not the way I imagined, it is way different from what I thought and definitely different from Middle School. Freshman year was the “exploring/adventure” year, finding where each classes were, what activities/clubs were offered at this school and many more. Freshman year went quickly and then Sophomore year came up. Sophomore year was probably the least stressful year in high school but from Sophomore year my family and friends started asking me the scariest question “What are you doing after high school, which career?
Things going on in my senior year have been fine other the some minor things that have happened. Things I have been doing well to get to graduation is trying to Subsidize my class by selling my pancake breakfast tickets so we have a graduation on the football field and also keeping my grades up to get the rest of my 3 credits to graduate. I am also working on my senior PTP packet. I am struggling with my PTP cause some of the things in the packet is hard or confusing. Things I can improve on is working on things more early so i can turn it in on time like for example these blog posts, I need to stop working on them last minute.
So far in my Senior year, things seem like they're going by so fast, I mean it's already mid-quarter and it still feels like school just started yesterday! Some things I am doing well to get me to graduation is taking all the classes I need to get whatever credits I need for this last year, participating in Extracurricular activities, and overall just enjoying everything about Senior year as it comes. Things that I catch myself still struggling with is doing all my assignments on time, managing my time between school, chores, and sports, and finally, not being as "on it" as I should be about doing all my school work because it's all going to count if I want to go to college next year. Adjustments that I need to make is being way more
Senior year is going to be great. I can feel the spirit and enthusiasm of my fellow seniors as the months go by. High school has been a life-changing experience. It's crazy to think how shy and awkward I was as a freshman, and now I'm open and confident. Throughout my high school career, I have seen and learned many lessons that will help shape my future success in college and beyond. Although many are academic and deal with studying and completing homework on time, the majority of them are actually life lessons and teachings that apply to everything I do in the future. Although I consider all lessons significant and essential, there are three that especially stand out to me: try everything, friendships are valuable, and be yourself.
This year, is my last year of highschool. For a very long time I have dreamed of being a senior and finally graduating from high school. I remember when I was a child, I wanted nothing more than to be a big, scary Senior. Now that I am this Senior and the end of the line has come, I am not sure how to feel. I expected to feel ecstatic and amazed as to how far I’ve come. I expected to feel empowered and more of an adult with a plan. Truth is, I don’t feel that way. I have, thankfully, a plan for my future, but I don’t feel like being a senior is as big as a deal as I had made it out to be when I was young. As I grew older, I realized that while getting older is fun, the responsibilities that come with it, are not all fun and games. As a senior, I realized that the real journey will begin once I step onto the college campus. Elementary, middle, and high school, are more like stepping stones for what you will become once the parental controls are turned off. That is why it is important, and what I realized a bit too late, to utilize the time you have now.
Congratulations on passing High School and going to college! I am currently going to the 10th grade of highschool but I have taken classes online from Ohlone college. From what I am told there are 2 Ohlone Campuses one in Newark and one in Fremont. Which ever campus you go to they both seem really fun, but they are also very big. The classes that I took was Java and a Personal Development Program. These two online classes have really helped me. The Personal Development Program has helped the most in becoming more successful and doing things that help me get great grades and also have fun in my life. My brother has also taken multiple courses at Ohlone and had a great time doing them. Many people think that going
