Deanna Smith, a current Physics undergraduate student at UAH, opened her talk with her favorite quote, "Reach for the moon, even if you fall, you'll land among the stars." Her talk focused on her journey as a physics student. Deanna Smith provided useful advice for all physics students, starting with "Enjoy the fact that you are a Physics student." Physics students have many unique opportunities available to them just because they are physics students. For example, because she was a Physics student, she was able to participate in the Space Hardware Club and Cube Sats and the Joint Space Weather Summer Camp. The Joint Space Weather Summer Camp allowed her to travel to Germany to work the on sensors that would detect changes in the sun's ionosphere.
My middle school efforts and personal achievements have prepared me well to succeed in the Wheeler Magnet Program. I have always had a love for science and a desire to pursue and obtain information that allows me to further understand the world and the events within it. The Wheeler Magnet Program will let me participate and focus on the major subjects that affect my future, both in and outside of school. I would like to close by thanking you for giving students this opportunity to improve our own education through this

Between the late 1800s and early 1900s, the Chinese population had expanded dramatically from having only about 55 people to 151,000. Most of the population has immigrated to California as the livelihood in China had became awfully difficult for them by sacrificing most of their valuables in order to improve their lives. The majority kept the Chinese culture with them and expanded it through establishing Chinatown, a community full of Chinese influence, with their presence in a new environment. In the remarkable novel, Outrun the Moon, Stacey Lee describes a teenage girl named Mercy Wong with a unique historical backdrop who chases after her dream in becoming an entrepreneur to create a better life for her own family. This book is astounding

During the story, Sals characterization contributes to the author’s theme of acceptance. “Space, the final frontier. These are the voyages of the Starship Enterprise. It’s mission, to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations. To go where no man has gone before.” The words rang inside my head as I stood on the stage at 4-H State Roundup as Captain Kirk in my club’s skit “The Enterprise Discovers 4-H.” As I consider my 4-H experience and adventures I realize that my goal in 4-H has been much like the goal of the Enterprise: to explore strange new topics, to seek out new projects and new skills - to learn what many have never learned! My time in 4-H has been just that, an adventure from a nervous twelve year old to a confident seventeen year old. This journey has been about learning how to use my head, heart,

Finding out how and why things work and discovering how products are made has always my passion. I regularly watch engineering and science shows on the television. From my childhood, I have always been a very curious person who would not believe just because someone told me, but I had to know the reason behind it. Science always fascinated me, and I always wondered how we remained on the ground and never fell off something that is spherical. In school I was more interested in maths and science rather than History or Arts and this made me choose Chemistry, maths and physics as my Higher subjects. This has helped me appreciate how Science has been utilised to improve man’s life and make it easier. It is because of this that I would like to
Through Engineering World Health, I can utilize my passion for biomedical engineering to build medical devices for hospitals in developing countries. By joining Hopkins Robotics Club, which is similar to the robotics team I am currently co-captain of, I can help bring schematics of different robotic mechanisms to life. Besides engineering-based organizations, I also hope to participate in the Hopkins Feminists organization, where I can continue to help promote gender equality and combat sexism in our society. Additionally, I’m interested in the Chinese Student Association, which provides a supportive cultural environment and brings awareness and understanding of Chinese culture throughout the university, similar to the Asian Affinity Club that I am co-president of. Lastly, I will be able to pursue my interests in choir and theatre through the university’s Choral Society and 7 theatre
