The Renaissance was an important event in human history that caused us to realise how important being individual is. When the black plague occurred, it made people think that there may not be a god because of how tragic it was. Many important people such as Leonardo Da Vinci began making art and literature that were less religious and more in this world. Also the city states had changes that were necessary for the Renaissance. Without the changes Europe experienced we would still be under the rule of the church and be forced into a certain religion instead of being free thinking individuals.

The Renaissance is a period in Europe, from the 14th to the 17th century, considered the bridge between the Middle Ages and modern history. It started as a cultural movement in Italy in the Late Medieval period and later spread to the rest of Europe, marking the beginning of the Early Modern Age. The Renaissance changed the view of man on the world from how man viewed the world during the middle ages. Politically, the feudal system of the Middle Ages was exchanged for a more stable centralized republic/monarchy system that gave the people more freedom and input. Religiously, secularism became more important as stability gave people a chance to concern themselves with the “here and now” rather than simply the “hereafter.” Socially, there was a shift from dogma and unshakeable belief to humanism and the ability to interpret things for oneself. The Renaissance began in the 1300’s in Europe and lasted to the 1500’s, the renaissance was a major rebirth of many ways of doing to thinking. In the Renaissance, Europe changed dramatically from multiple aspects ranging from; technology, fashion, and geography to name a few. However, one aspect that stands out more than others is that of religion. Many religions were founded in the renaissance while others changed and molded to new beliefs, criticism, leadership and various other reasons to become what they are today in the modern world. Not only religions changed, but many historical figures came about between 1300 and 1500AD.

The Middle Ages was all about order. The Church was the center of life and community. Each individual knew and accepted his or her place in society. The Renaissance was all about change. During The Renaissance, everything was challenged including the Church. Artists of great magnitude emerged during this time.

The renaissance contributed in the area of literature because during this time period the printing press was created which made it easier to write and read literary works. Not only that, but this era also assisted art because before the rebirth art was ordinary and simple, though that all changed during the revival,artists such as Leonardo Da Vinci and Michelangelo began to do their artwork more vividly. They used different forms like realism and two dimensional to make it seem more realistic. Another major contribution made by the renaissance was education . Before any changes were made, education was reserved to citizens who were wealthy and who could afford being educated, but because the printing press was made the Middle class people were able to educate themselves .Moreover , the renaissance also changed European culture. People were being introduced to so many new things including Music , the growth of literature, science ,technology and better education. The Renaissance challenged the status quo of the Middle Ages. During the Middle Ages, the Church had authority over most people. These people also had limited rights. All of this changed during the Renaissance. This period of time focused on the philosophy of humanism, which embodied the idea that humans were a significant part of the world. The Renaissance changed man’s view of man through the institutions of literature, astronomy, anatomy, and art.

The Middle Ages were a time when the Roman Catholic Church and the Pope possessed tremendous power in Europe, illiteracy was common, and both art and literature were primarily based off of religious ideas. However, from 1300 to 1700, people’s way of thinking dramatically evolved. Some of the major changes in man’s view of man during the Renaissance were the increased portrayal of expression, a more positive view of human nature, and a greater emphasis on the accuracy of human anatomy.

During the shift from the middle ages into the Renaissance period new conceptions of the individual and the human mind quickly came to light. Although art in the Middle Ages was centered predominantly on religion and faith, the incoming art of the Renaissance underwent a drastic change. A vast amount of these changes mainly focused on individualism, secularism, and humanism. Following the collapse of the feudal system, thoughts of individualism quickly rose when people realized that they didn’t have to adhere to a specific group.Throughout the beginning of the Renaissance, religious figures and the Catholic Church began to lose authority which conducted in new ideas of secularism. Comparably, humanistic art and notions became preeminent when individuals focused on glorifying the human body, learning more about it and inclined more towards realistic art.

During the Renaissance, all that changed. The period was characterized by a renewed interest in ancient Greek and Roman design and included an emphasis on human beings and the environment.

Many things changed from Medieval Times to the Renaissance. The catholic church saw it’s reign secede and individualism increase in the minds of the people of the time. Because of this, people in the Renaissance now looked at themselves in a way that was never seen before. Slowly but surely, the whole world changed. The rise in individualism and humanism signified a change in the way people thought about their purpose in life. In the Medieval Times, people believed that they were at the mercy of God, and they had no control over their own bodies or lives. From the change in Medieval Times to the Renaissance, whole fields were changed, especially art and the medical field, because of the rise of the individual and that way of life.

While the renaissance period of history is long over, it dramatically impacted the modern world. Some of the great discoveries in science, developments in the arts, architecture, and humanism took place during this period of history. The results had major impacts on politics at that time as well into the future. The renaissance left both positive and negative influences on the world as we know it.
