In my opinion the modern revolution has been the greatest period in the anthropocene era due to the many advances that were made in areas such as transportation, technology, medicine, communication, and food production. In reality all of these innovations were fueled by fossil fuels. They fuels, or energy sources, which were fossil fuels include coal, oil, and natural gas. The burning of these fossil fuels were able to be used to power steam engines and eventually internal combustion engines. These were the real drivers of the modern revolution With the discovery of fossil fuels we were able to power steam engines and internal combustion engines that could drive machines that were able to do much more work then any human being ever could. One way they were used to have innovation in transportation was the creation of the railroad. This enabled trains to pull much more freight across longer distance in a way shorter amount of time then a horse and buggy.
