Daytona Beach On the morning of June 17, 2016, I woke up with a smile on my face like it was Christmas morning. I launched myself out of bed to take a quick shower before I was to meet my friends to leave for Daytona Florida. We planned this trip months ahead of time when we found out there was a truck meet on the weekend of June 18th and 19th. The truck meet we went to was where anyone who owned a pickup truck could come down to Daytona Florida and drive on the beach to get to mingle and entertain one another for the weekend. We met at a local gas station in Morgantown Kentucky at eight that morning. There was eleven of us total going on the trip, my father, Robbie Henderson, my friend Seth Gaskey and his father, Jimmy Gaskey, my …show more content…
While waiting in line we noticed they seemed to be slow with taking orders but we were starving so we decided to wait it out. After placing our orders, we were asked to wait off to the side of the window to receive the food. It thought the sun was going to set before we received our order. Finally, after forty-five minutes of waiting we got our food and set down to eat. This was our first delay during the drive down and we thought as long as we did not have any more we would still arrive at a decent time. We ramped back onto the interstate after everyone finished eating and still had approximately six hours prior to arriving. While driving down the interstate we recognized a truck from Instagram that was also headed to Daytona. It was a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado that had a large lift under it with aftermarket wheels and a custom pink and white paint job. The reason it was partially pink is because it was owned by a woman. We traveled the interstate for about three hours after stopping to eat when we crossed the Florida state line and stopped at the welcome center to use the restroom. While parking we noticed an odd screeching sound coming from underneath the front end of Seth’s Ford. This would become our second delay as we found out after inspecting his truck that his front passenger side wheel hub bearing was ruined. Immediately we started looking for the closest auto
There is a towing company in central florida that does something similar on the beach boardwalks, they put the signs up facing AWAY from the lot so you can't see them until you actually get out of your car and go to the beach, and they will have an employee in plain clothes and a binocolar calling the towing truck so by the time you go to move your car, it's already loaded up and there's "nothing they can do" so you have to pay hundreds of dollars to get your car back. It's basically extortion, its terrible.
Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park rests on 400 acres protected land. Occupying the southern third of the island of Key Biscayne, this natural respite for birds and people alike falls just south of Miami Beach. This park was rightly named for The Miami News editor who fought to protect the land and preserve the Key in its natural state.
Your article on the Miami Herald website called “Will Florida Bay survive the summer?” opened my eyes as to what is going on in the Florida Bay and has inspired me to bring awareness to the sea grass die off during my research trip to the Florida Bay. This week, I did my own research to measure the salinity of the Bay and the water temperature to compare the results to the last sea grass die-off which occurred in the early 1990s. I have discovered that the temperature of the bay in the summer of 2015 compared to the temperature in the summer of 1990 increased astronomically. In fact, the temperature was 93 degrees when I made my measurements and just to confirm my measurements I sent emails to researchers
Ocean CIty is a beautiful vacation place, not just for the summer. Many people go there to relax, make memories and have a good time. It is a fun-filled, family-friendly vacation place that everyone will enjoy and it is worth the drive.
It was July 1st 2012. I was on a wonderful vacation with my family at Rehoboth Beach, DE. Every year my family trailed there because my grandpa owned a beach house down there right on the sand. Every year we would make the four hour car drive down. We would stay about a week hit the water parks, Ocean,Boardwalks, mini golf, and of coarse the Sea Shell Shop. I looked forward to this trip every year, spending time with my family and enjoy the rays of the sun. We were about half way through our trip when my dad got a call from one of his best friends Mike, who lives down there. Later that night my dad said that Mike owned Jet Skis and that if we wanted to we could wake up early the next morning and meet him on a huge lake behind
It was June 10, the day we got out of school and headed to the beach. It was our annual family trip to Myrtle Beach which meant going to Family Kingdom, River City, to the ocean, and playing around. I couldn’t wait it was finally time to go and as soon as we got on the highway my mom stops the car and turns around because she forgot her pillow. That didn’t really bother me because everyone forgets things. We were about two hours into the trip when my brother realizes that he forgot his phone. He complained the whole rest of the way how he wanted to go home and he didn’t want to go all because of his phone. But the best part was soon to come. We stopped at a convenient store to rest and get a snack. I got a bag of Chex Mix and a Blue Raspberry
It was a beautiful sunny day and my family and I were driving on the expressway. We were in my Dad’s blue truck with the fifth wheel behind us. We had the windows down in the amazing 80 degree weather. We were around our exit, Myrtle Beach! I was so excited for the trip and couldn’t wait to put my foot in the blue, cold, salt water. After the like 15 hour drive we had just suffered through I was expecting a pretty great trip.
Do you know when you are on a plane, your ears pop like crazy? Well, I know from experience, because I was on a plane to Florida for 2 ½ hours. My family, aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents were all going to Florida. When the airplane takes off for the very first time, your ears are not used to the elevation, so it will mostly likely hurt. You eventually get used to the feeling of it, after a certain amount of time in the plane.
My friends and I had taken a weekend trip to Orange Beach. We decided to stay in a condo for the entire weekend. The day that we were going to Orange Beach my friend Hasan was graduating from Madison Central High School in 2015, and he was getting his parents to drive him to Orange Beach so that he could hang out with us for the weekend. We did multiple events such as driving down to Orange Beach and back home, going to the beach, biking, waiting for dinner, living in a condo, and celebrating a friend graduating High School. The events on this trip had many fun and horrific event happen in them. This may be a reason why a person does not take a high school graduate.
Strolling down a beaten dirt trail with green mossy trees on either side. A soft breeze brushes a kiss against my cheek, as it pushes past, earth mixing with sea salt hits my nose. Soon the faint sound of waves kissing the shore, children’s laughter, and seagulls screeching calls to me. Walking along the winding dirt trail until the texture beneath my toes change. The trees part and on either side the trees rise into the air, becoming cliffs as far as my eyes can see. Instead of dirt beneath my feet it has been replaced by sand in between my toes. I walk towards the white cap waves where the water washes up against my ankles excitedly and then pulls back with remorse. Sea mist leaves a moist kiss against my cheeks and then
I remember it like it happened yesterday. It was a warm sunny day on October 27 2013, and we were driving to my sister Amy’s house in Kaukauna. We had to drop off a set of bunk beds at her house for my niece Mia. My dad, mom, my sister Anna, and I were all in one car, while my two brothers, Andrew and David, were in the Ford Ranger ahead of us. We were having fun in the car, talking, laughing and listening to music, until we came up on a yield sign. My brother Andrew proceeded through it first, when a black Envoy came speeding around the corner, too fast to slow down. When Andrew saw it coming he tried to swerve, but the car was going too fast, and it was too late. The car hit the truck,
It all started on Monday April, 10th 2017. My family and I were all going on a trip to Florida for a week then to a tropical island off the coast of Florida. The people that were going was my mom, dad, brother, my best friend, my girlfriend, her mom, her dad, her brother, her brother's family, her best friend, and me. We all met at the Cincinnati airport where we flew 4 hours to Florida. When we got to Florida we got a hotel for the week. We were staying at a Doubletree hotel in St. Pete Beach.
I currently live in Kissimmee, Florida. Kissimmee is a city located in Central Florida’s Osceola County. It is located south of Orlando. The State of Florida is positioned in both the northern and western hemispheres. It is located in the far southeastern region of the United States which is a part of North America. Florida is bordered by the states of Alabama and Georgia, the Atlantic Ocean, Gulf of Mexico and the Straits of Florida. The physical system of Florida includes the KOE system which is the Kissimmee River, Okeechobee, and Everglades. The Human System of Florida would be the Crystal River 3 Nuclear Power Plant, also known as the Crystal River Nuclear Plant. It’s a closed nuclear power plant located in Crystal River, Florida.
I walked along the beach. As I was walking I could feel the fresh smell of the beach like it was an air freshener but it also smelled that gave me a tingle in my nose. As I kept walking along the beach I could feel the light breeze coming against me. This fresh air felt warm as I felt like I was sleeping in a comfortable bed. I kept walking in the beach, as I did it felt like an escape to all my problems and also my stress. Beach felt like a solution to all my problems and could be open with anything.
The warm breeze of the ocean air flies past my face. The heat of the yellow sun was sizzling, beating down against my skin, tanning and burning it within seconds. Beach goers were crowded around in all directions. Seagulls gliding past the groups of people, scouting for dropped or forgotten food to eat. Their little footprints marking a trail in the sand all over the place, going in a million different directions, searching for their next meal. I take in the exquisiteness of it all, the blue-green waves crashing into the sandy shore, making white foam and bubbles wash into the sea, little boys and girls that are digging in the bright white sand running away from the small waves before they get wet. The beach is a stunning place to be; there's just something about the ocean waves and the sand between my toes that makes me just want to stay there forever.
