The microscope represents Suzuki’s love of science and passion for unearthing the microscopic world.
The medal is a symbol of the E.W.R Steacie Memorial Fellowship; which is awarded to the most outstanding research scientist in Canada under the age of 35. Suzuki held the title three years in a row.
This media clip is a commercial starring David Suzuki. The main concept of the video is that one person can make a difference.
This picture represents “The David Suzuki Foundation” which combines Canadians, government, and businesses, to conserve the environment and find solutions that will create a sustainable country. The foundation accomplishes this through science-based research, education and policy work. Their mission is to protect the diversity
David Takayoshi Suzuki is one of the most famous Canadian in the world. He is a geneticist, broadcaster, environmental activist, and Co-Founder of the David Suzuki Foundation. His study has affected and helped to develop our lives. He has still published his articles online and warned people to keep our sustainable environments. His life is stormy and full of drama because of his race and the World War II.
The most important thing to know about the DND’s Environment Department is that it lacks funding because, when it comes to the Canadian Government, it is not of main concern. The Canadian Government is focused too much on short term issues and not focused enough on long term issues such as
David Suzuki may be 79 but his passion to the environment is above anyone else. Today David Suzuki still continues to create a huge impact as a person, Suzuki is the co-founder of the David Suzuki Foundation and today he still continues to run it and make a difference. Suzuki still makes posts on twitter giving helpful tips and tips on how us as individuals can help stop climate change, and other problems the environment faces. Currently his foundation is working on five different projects to; they include trying to stop climate change, stop hazardous environment that cause health problems, keep oceans well managed and protected, protect our wildlife, and protect water systems like rivers that are used for water. Recently in David Suzuki talked about solar energy and why we don’t use it, ”Every hour, the sun bathes the Earth with enough energy to supply our needs for more than a year. There's no reason we can't harness more of it to cut back on polluting, climate-altering fossil fuels.” This quote shows David Suzuki’s work and how he still continues to make a difference today in trying to help the environment and our safety. This shows why David Suzuki is a historically significant
Same as photographers previously mentioned, van Waarden “believes in the power of photography to make a difference. He believes that through documentation of the social and natural world we can shift the world towards a more sustainable future” (van Waarden, n.d.). His photos portray people affected by climate change because “we need to see the impacts that we are having on the world and that everyone needs to be informed to make the right decisions. …We need to understand that the environment is not separate from us and the impacts that we have today will impact future generations for years to come” (van Waarden, personal communication, February 2, 2011). For example, vanWaarden’s photo essays Along the Pipeline and The Stories TransCanada is Afraid You’ll See show real people and communities living along the pipeline to counter TransCanada’s propaganda and efforts to silence their voices and opinions (van Waarden, 2014). According to vanWaarden, “The work I do has focused a lot on helping to build a climate change movement and this is very important work and will be the key to solving this problem” (personal communication, February
The Graeters video relates to what we have learned about business and change by showing us that change within a business is virtually inevitable. As times change and technology becomes more apparent, business must also change or use valuable resources to become more efficient to keep up with, or become more successful than the surrounding competition. Graeters experience with change was a bit different than that of other companies. Before technological innovations brought about the refrigerator and modern ice cream machines ice cream was a delicacy, it was something people couldn’t get every day or whenever they desired. In the times after though, many companies began to mass produce ice cream making thousands of gallons per day. Graeters
This video of Bobby McFerrin clearly stunned me, all he had to do was teach the audience just once the note and then based on his moments the audience could sing the notes on their own without any guidance, and not only that, the audience also knew the tune to the parts he did not mention and that was the most amazing sight I have ever come across. This shows the beauty of music has reached to heights that anyone can be a musicians and make beautiful songs and tunes, just like how Bobby McFerrin did so. This clearly shows the true power of Music and how it can be used in many beautiful
This motivational video is called Why Do We Fall. I would say the target market for this video are athletics and coaches. The whole video is made up of different athletics doing inspirational things. Throughout the video you see athletics, coaches, and different motivational speakers saying who had something inspiring and inspirational The motivational video included athletics, coaches, and motivational speakers who all had something inspiring and inspirational to everyone but especially younger athletics.
David Suzuki, works with government, business and individuals to conserve our environment by providing science-based research, education and policy work, and acting as a catalyst for the change that today's situation demands,
After watching this video, I feel like the United States has a long way to go before it can be called a “Healthy Nation.” In fact, getting people to lose weight is more difficult than getting them to quit smoking. Heart Disease is the number one killer in the U.S. and I feel that this is due to unhealthy eating and lack of exercise. 68.5% of the adult population is either overweight or obese, thankfully I am not in that category. I feel like public health is doing the best it can in preventing diseases, prolonging life, and educating personal hygiene. However, promoting physical health, environmental control, and adequate living places needs improving. Personal health is something we value, it’s related to the intrapersonal component of the
For Video Reflection Paper Two, I decieded to watch and write about “Paradise Bent”. “Paradise Bent” follows Heather Croall learning about the Fa’afaine’s of Somoa everyday life, past, and place in their culture. Fa’afaine are Somoan boys who are brought up as girls, and act as girls in everyday Samoan life.
What stood up to me in the video was how really internet is a tool that connects us all physically, as the journalist Andrew Blum reported on Ted, and personally witnessed the process of installing fiber-optic cable under the sea in Africa. First, the cable was inside floating buoys, then someone cut them and the cable dropped under the sea. Engineers then connected the cable to other cable in another place, under the ground, and forget about
Throughout his presentation, Hans Rosling shows that the rich and wealthy release the most carbon emissions, but they are often the ones telling Africa or another developing country they shouldn't begin using fossil fuels and other technology because it's hurting the environment. Rosling claims that the rich end look down at the "poor" people and say, "You cannot live like us, you will destroy the planet." Technology, however, is key to progressing out of poverty and developing. As shown in his graphs, the wealthy release the most emissions, but shake their finger at developing countries that are starting to use technology and/or burn fossil fuels. An example used in the video is Africa and the coal available to them to provide warmth and light.
This speech was given in the UN, to tell adults and people all around the world to change their ways of living, save the countless animals dying across the world because they have nowhere left to go, children who are in a poverty and dying from hunger and the next generation that is still yet to come. Severn Suzuki describes the ethos by telling people's her own personal story which claims that the “animals are in danger they are slowly getting extinct”. She is not only speaking for herself and the people who are sitting there, she is speaking for all the people who are living all around the world, present generation and the next generation. She also appeals to pathos by striking straight to the emotions and admitting with all the people who are there “Here you maybe delegates of your government, Business people, organizers, journalist or politicians, but really your mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers, aunts and uncles and all of you are someone’s child”.
The advertisement begins with a father and his son walking towards their car. The son is wearing a football uniform and is carrying a trophy. His father asks him if he can see the trophy. The son hands his father the trophy, which reads “Participant.” We see the father instantly look upset, and then we hear his thoughts, “Participation trophy? But we, we won every game. Why do we get the same trophy as all those teams we’d beaten? Are we gonna start ending games with hugs instead of handshakes?” He begins repeating the word ‘no’ over and over again as he breaks off the engraving that says ‘Participant’ and then he
The global environmental graphics have the following connotations.-The circular graphic represents the earth and sun with blue skies (clean air), clean water, and lush green land expressing the bounty of nature that is necessary for us to realize a sustainable society where people can enjoy life. -The white line through the middle represents a road where freedom of mobility is realized, while the heart represents Honda's thinking and passion toward our environmental commitment.
