All was well, I thought I was living “The American Dream”, until one day, one day I will never forget. While walking home with my partner David Hawke, from Bridgeport Restaurant in Chicago, I encountered a horrid crime scene, the most gruesome I had ever witnessed before. It started on April 23, 2006 around 11:15 a.m. The wind was calm, it was cloudy and humid, and the warm air was finally kicking in. Around 32nd and Halsted, we heard a loud crashing sound.We ran toward the noise and found a cloud of smoke surrounding a totaled white Range Rover truck. As the smoke cleared, I realized a woman was hurt inside. However, her heart was still beating slowly. Immediately I called 911 and ensured an ambulance and police would arrive shortly. While taking her last breaths, she murmured a word I could not make out. It almost sounded like alley. The ambulance arrived and confirmed the victim was dead. However, they said that not only did the wreck kill her, but she was stabbed in the back. At that moment, I realized this was not any ordinary car crash, it was a murder. I was arrested and charged for the murder. I called my parents crying. They believed I was innocent and finally built up the courage to tell me something they have been hiding for the past 22 years of my life. They told me I was not an only child, in fact I had a troubled identical twin sister named Ally Bennett. My parents continued on telling me they had giver her away after figuring out she was troubled. They sent her to a mental asylum in which she broke out 15 years later. They said that I was too young to remember, and did it to give me my best chance. My parents later flew to Chicago and came to the jail in which I was held. They explained what had happened and showed Ally’s birth certificate as evidence to prove I was innocent. I was finally
