David Allan Coe once said, “ It is not the beauty of a building you should look at; its the construction of the foundation that will stand the test of time”. (Coe, David Allan) Coe is saying by this that you have to take pride in what the people have built instead of the beauty and look at the foundation that took all the time and effort. Construction can be a tough career to get into, but on top being a construction manager you have some bigger shoes to fill with the amount of things that you have to handle. Germanna community college will be the collage I am attending to get my associates degree in business. The reason I chose to go to Germana that it’s cheaper and if I want to transfer I can do so, it also makes it easier to get into a collage when transferring. When going into the field for being a construction manager you are not required to have any kind of degree, some say that you should go to college and get a bachelor's degree, but you don’t always need that i'm going for associates so I can learn the business part if being a construction manager. Another person that is able to teach me things is my dad, from owning our own business I want to grow and expand it by being more knowledgeable with decisions that need to be made. This has a good reflection on me because I want to strive for the best and make everything count. By Becoming a construction manager could have a good effect on your life. There are many people that pursue this career and make a lot of money and learn new things every day. By growing up, learning about, and working in the construction field can have a great impact on one. Everything isn't easy to have or get but when you work for what you want you appreciate it and want to show others what you can do or what you have show that you're proud of it. To me college is like the next step of life to adulthood; it is where you get a taste of the authentic world and learn how to adjust and manage on your own. In addition, it can be a place of magnification and polished skills within a community that strives for a prosperous life with an effulgent vocation. Thus, attending college was compulsory for me in order to reach future goals, and North Carolina A&T State University (NCAT) transpired to be just right for me. The distance was within range and they have an outstanding mechanical engineering program that I could solemnly benefit from. Overall, attending this university has opened many doors of opportunities that arrange with my personal and professional goals through their culture and community. Furthermore, I endeavor to put myself first and review my precedent accomplishments to strive for better while exposing myself to incipient challenges and obstacles.
The Shadow Leader Project has been the most informative, empowering, eye-opening assignment and experience, I have endured through all of my years as a college student. Not only did I learn small details of the construction work zone, but most importantly, through Krystal, I learned what obstacles she faces being the only woman working in a predominantly male- dominated field, and how she overcomes those obstacles to obtain, persevere, and break through the glass ceiling to achieve excellence and status within her title as, Construction Management Surveyor at Engineer Surveyor Hawaii.
Determining whether to participate in a college or not, can affect one’s future forever. As it is, most people do not see the importance of college within today’s society. However, i do see the major impact college has on my life. That is why I have decided to attend a four year college in order to become an Architecture/Engineering Manager, and not to mention that this should be the same for other people.
I have chosen Tidewater Community College because it is my stepping stone. College is not just a degree but the completion of a goal I started 20 years ago. When I had my son, I attempted to go to school and work. Due to family issues and other life events, I was unable to finish. Now that my son is in college it is my time to complete what I had started years ago. This is a personal goal for me. I am not a first generation college student. My older siblings attending college and graduated. My objective is to obtain my Associate’s Degree and continue on to my Bachelor’s degree. A positive relationship is found between career motivation factor and satisfaction with choice is not unexpected.
