Dark room photography is a very interesting thing to learn about. It was very different from digital photography, therefore it intrigued me. I was sad that I wasn't here to learn all about due to my absences, but from when I was here, I enjoyed what we were doing. I was really surprised with the amount of time it took to develop the pictures and how many different chemicals it took to start the process of developing the photos. I was also extremely surprised with how easily photos were ruined and destroyed. In digital cameras, there is no chance for photos to get jammed or ripped, only deleted. One thing I learned during this project was that it has to be really dark for the photos to develop right. That surprised me because it was basically

Little lights shine their way down the rugged winding path. Foot steps trudge in front and behind staying close together. Dodging thorns and burs left and right. Ouch!—Every time. Quiet laughs fill the silence as we continue on. Our trek takes us up a slippery slope and through a cow pasture and under a barbed wire fence and down a long tractor path all with the weight of our bags and rifles. Finally, we make it to where we head separate ways. As goodbyes and good lucks are exchanged, nerves set in. I brush them off as I head to my sixteen feet high tower hidden among the trees. I can’t see it in the darkness, but I know the location by memory. Soon, light catches orange tape constricted around cold steel—Found it. But I still have to climb all sixteen feet. I attach my lifeline to the stand as I
I volunteered at the Little Lights Urban Ministries. I had the pleasure of working with adults and kids but, majority were adults in a low income community. Little lights was founded in 1995 by Steven Park. Little Lights is located in Potomac Gardens public housing apartments in Washington DC. It all started off with Steven tutoring one child in an uptown neighborhood. Then he met his wife Mary and things started expanded. They started allowing 15 kids come over after school to do homework and bible study. Sometimes they would order pizza or buy chicken to feed the kids if they stayed over late. A couple of years later they was blessed with the main building and somebody donated a van for transportation. Steven then start his nonprofit and

① Japan became an imperial power in the later nineteenth and early twentieth centuries through nationwide reforms and modernization for the reason of protecting the country from foreign invasion that would threaten their power in any way possible. After the opium war, Japan realized that they must become an imperial power themselves so that they would become the next victim of the European imperial powers. To start off, the Japanese government began investing in industries that would essentially raise money for the government by specifically taxing the peasants. The industries would then be sold off to the capitalists until the Japanese capitalists
Photography is a scientific art of creating images by capturing light on a light sensitive material. Mist and fog converts the world into a natural monochrome with a soft stillness to it. Our eyes might not see in black and white but the human brain knows to appreciate the art that a monochrome picture is. Black and white cameras were existed since the 1930s and for an average user it might just seem like an old technology that has been replaced with the new cool go pros and mirror less cameras but for photographers and art lovers it’s still an asset. Black and white does not necessarily mean removal of color, it requires its own way of seeing. Film photography allows one to have

There is nothing humans like more than searching for purpose. This takes place in many different forms including but not limited to, organized religion, philosophy, mass movements, or even just a career. Humans are inherently curious creatures, constantly asking why or what if. It’s human nature. The game, A Dark Room makes a statement about this aspect of human nature. The Dark Room is a game revolved around building a society. While the game is great at teaching resource management, there is a deeper meaning behind the building of huts and exploration of a “dusty path”. At the beginning of the game the player is introduced to the “Builder” a character , who at first, willingly creates things for the player given the needed supplies. Throughout
I am not a night time person. My schedule would not allow me to be a night time person. Even in the summer I fall asleep around the same time I would as if I were still in school. This summer is a little different though. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday I get up at 5:15 a.m. to go to cross-country practice which starts at 6 a.m. and ends at 8 a.m. Since I started summer school I leave practice 20 minutes early to get ready for school. The run and work out I had that morning wakes me up for the day.

What is a photograph? The simplicity of taking a photograph leads many to ponder its artistic value. Yet, it is undeniable that there are some photos that cause an emotional reaction deeper than simply observing a recorded point in time. Surely, there are photographs that cause more reaction than some modern art pieces. There seems to be two types of photographs. The first classification is the ‘time capture’ photo – an image with the sole purpose of recording a particular event or point in time. The second nature of a photo carries a ‘deeper meaning,’ which has the ability to change the observer’s mood and cause a reaction. But what distinguishes these two varieties? There are a
