Every process and system in the body is adversely affected by the over-indulgence of drugs and alcohol. Some of the health problems regularly noted include organ damage, kidney and liver disease, organ failure, congestive heart failure, respiratory depression, memory lapses, brain damage, infection, stroke, heart attack, and overdose.

Drugs can impair a person's judgement. People are much more likely to make risky decisions while they are under the influence of drugs. For example, a person may have unprotected sex while under the influence of drugs. This can increase the risk of STDs.

This paper will illustrate several aspects of how drugs affect our lives. Addiction philosophies including the psychology and physiology will be explained in an attempt to describe how drugs affect our bodies both physically and mentally. Secondly, different drug categories types will be covered including: stimulants, depressants, narcotics, hallucinogens, and cannabis. Each of these categories has different addiction potentials and effect levels including withdrawal symptoms. Finally, the abuse of prescription drugs and their effects will be discussed.

Communication serves as a critical first impression when talking to professional figures. Growing up a basketball player, I have come across many adults who obtain a higher authority in athletics. My goal has always been to play college basketball and play professionally. Talking with these high level figures is very important to my success of becoming both. A time I communicated strongly was the first time I talked to my college recruiter. The effectiveness of my words helped to get my point across so that my recruiter could understand me in the manner as I intended. The conversation we had was very professional and the usage of my vocabulary and body language enhanced throughout the conversation. He was able to understand my intentions behind what I delivered to him so that we could have an ongoing conversation. Communicating with my recruiter showed him that I was capable to talk to him and others over him without having a mediocre conversation.

Drug abuse not only affects  individuals, but also can have far-reaching consequences that affect family, employment, personal health, and society as a whole.  Drugs is a medicine or any other substance that has a physiological effect when ingested or otherwise introduced into the body. Drugs are used to treat ourselves when we get sick. Drugs abuse is the habitual taking of addictive or illegal drugs. There are different kinds of drug that have a different effect when ingested in the body.

Drugs some use them to escape pain, others use them for pleasure, and some use them to just fit in. Either way drugs are a harmful substance that may seriously affect the body. Drugs mess with the brain in ways that we couldn’t even imagine. From destroying brain cells that help with critical thinking to destroying cells that give us the ability to feel pleasure. Drugs take the place of our natural body functions of the body. They fool receptors of the body and make it to where our bodies produce less of what we need. Over a period of time this may produce very severe consequences on the body. With all the risks involved with drugs it’s a wonder why some people use them.

Drugs are bad for you; they can cause illness, disease, infection, and could even lead to death. Many cases throughout history show that drugs are violent to the people who not only use them but to people who are around them. These drugs can lead people to do harmful things such as acid; acid can make you believe your worst nightmares are coming true. One case of this was when a man took a shaving razor, applied it to his arms and scratched up and down his arm because he thought cockroaches were climbing on him. He had pealed nearly two to three layers of skin off without knowing; when he woke up he was in a lot of pain and had to be immediately sent to the hospital. This drug made him crazy, literally. Imagine what would have happened if he thought an innocent bystander was going to attack him, he would have gotten the razor and start to swing.

You can die from doing drugs. In common drugs transform the chemical state of a person’s body and mind. Drugs can be classify in three groups. Medicines as a drug change the chemical state of your body or mind. When you feel ill you are given some (good) drugs by your doctor to imbalance the chemical in your body to feel better. Legal addictive drugs are alcohol and tobacco are harmful to the people in North America. They can cause to damage your body and mind. Illegal addictive drugs there many of them which fall to this categories. What drugs can do to your body. You age faster with in time you look ten through fifteen years older than your age. From drugs you can lung cancer can start from anywhere in the lungs and may affect any part of the respiratory system. From the lung cancer you can have a hard time breathing or have a heart problem such as Pleural effusion which is the buildup of fluid between the outer lining of the lungs and the chest wall. Drugs can make your teeth rotten and hair loss. There are one type of insomnia that drugs can do to your body. The insomnia is called Chronic can not go away on its own and can lead both short and long term health problems if left untreated. One of the most devastating side effects of drug addiction and abuse is depression. Depression is the result of chemical imbalance, environmental influence, or a combination of both. Using heavy and very highly addictive drugs as heroin, cocaine, opium and many other will cause sudden mood changes, deterioration of the immune system, nervous breakdowns, unusual flares of temper and many other side effects. Besides physical side effects, drug addiction can create problems in a person's social circles. The person may run into many conflicts with his family and friends, resulting in desire for isolation. This in turn will create more problems since the person will have no social support. Furthermore, drug addiction is a financial strain especially for teenagers. When a person is addicted to drugs he will do anything to obtain money to fulfill his needs.

Drugs affect nearly everybody on this planet. Drugs increase the crime rate in almost any area once introduced and can lead to poverty for some individuals. Drugs can tear communities and families apart, which many of us are oblivious to. Drugs also have many dangerous health risks for users as well as people who indirectly come in contact some drugs.

The effects of drugs can be have different effects on everyone differently depending if its for pleasure or for relieving pain Most of the effects of drugs occur in the brain, where it increases the level of dopamine at a specific site possibly giving the addict the pleasure they were feigning for (Robbins). As a child I didn’t know much about drugs except for what your parents and teachers at school tell you which is, “Just Say No.”
