Will You Strike Out?
When you picture baseball what do you usually see? Do you see a field, players in uniform, home runs, or spectacular catches? Well, in this book it is the complete opposite, well sort of. Author Jordan Sonnenblick author of Curveball, fabricated characters Peter Friedman and Adam James or AJ for short. These characters, both played baseball, Peter was an amazing pitcher and catcher in the sport he loved. This all changed when the cartilage in his elbow snapped and AJ thinks he can persuade Peter to play again after this career ending injury. The structure of the story is convincing as well as the character's. This is why I believe the characters from the book Curveball are realistic.
To begin, the characters are humorous

On page ?? It gives details about how peter feels. Baseball players are typically tall buff males who chew gum and have a venomous look in their eye which almost describes AJ. In chapter one, page twelve it states that "AJ is almost 6 feet tall, blonde hair, and a relaxed smoothness." When reading this you can relate this to someone who plays baseball. Though it is a vague description it gives the reader a stunning visual. I feel as this important to give a basis for the reader to relate strongly to create feelings and gives the characters appeal as if they or a friend could be AJ or Peter. However, whichever character you relate to weather it is Peter or AJ just like them you also run into problems. To elaborate, Peter and AJ both have their issues and Sonnenblick does a fantastic job telling both sides of the story. In chapter ? Peter sheds tears for his grandfather because he knows that his grandfather is not doing well, and he does not know how to feel about it. This emotion that peter displays relates to real people because typical people don’t know how to react when finding out something that is life changing so, the raw emotion peter shows are very realistic. This also lets the reader connect with the character on a personal level and relate closely instead of just being able to relate to the physical

Journal 1: Character Analysis I really like the character’s Cal and Will. To me they seem like the ultimate dynamic duo. They are brothers but they treat each other like they’re best friends. Within chapter 41, Will wants to go back to college but Cal insists on making money to help out their friend Aron and their father. Aron desperately wants to go to college too but he unfortunately lost all his money in his refrigerator business. Cal, the kind man he is says to him, ‘“I’ll tell you what. I’m
Music plays a immense part in the lives of those who experience it. It has the power to influence behaviors and moods and even important decisions one makes in life. A device with that amount of power must have very meticulous monitoring. Choosing between more uplifting music and more degrading music can be difficult surprisingly, simply because a lot of adults like rap and music categories like that that contain a lot of degrading messages. Positive, uplifting music is a much better choice for overall
Staying on the team has made our friendship closer than ever, but I always wonder how much simpler my life would be if I had just left while I could. Although my situation is nowhere near as critical as the decisions made by the characters in Into Thin Air, being through what I have has made me understand how burdensome it must have been for the climbers forced to decide between their own lives and the lives of others. Being able to relate my life to the key aspects of this book has
Biographical Summary Edith Wharton lived a very interesting life. She had grown up in a relatively high class family. She had some trouble in her relationship though. Most of her novels are written about her past life experiences. Although she did have challenges to face, Edith Wharton ended up extremely well. On January 24, 1862, Edith Wharton was born in New York City. Her parents are George Fredric Jones and Lucretia Stevens Rhinelander. They were descents from English and Duitch colonists who
Critical Analysis of Walter Mosley “You have the right to remain silent. Anything you do or say may be used against you in a court of law.” Although no one wants to hear these words, they are words that are known across the country and are uttered every day. Walter Mosley takes this concept of “by the book” law enforcement and jazzes it up in The Devil in a Blue Dress, a novel based on Ezekiel Rawlins, a character stuck between the struggle of enforcing the law or engaging into criminal activity
“In the end, only three things matter: how much you loved, how gently you lived, and how gracefully you let go of things not meant for you” was beautifully said by Siddhartha Gautama and perfectly emcompasses what his life was truly all about. The life of Gautama can be recognized as remarkable because when analyzed, it is clear that he created a foundation for himself that not only survived his own death, but also all of the changing decades that passed thereafter. This foundation was Buddhism and
