Current Event: Local On Thursday afternoon, just a day before this article was published, a missing game hunter from Eagle was found alive. His name is Arnold Dowdy, and when he went missing on Tuesday the original plan was that he and his partner would split up while tracking and then meet up later at predetermined destination. While his hunting partner made it back to camp, Dowdy didn’t. The missing hunter spent two nights out in the wilderness, both of which dropped to below freezing temperatures. Between twelve and fifteen searchers combed the land north of Idaho City, and eventually found him about five miles from where he was last seen. He suffered from dehydration and some exposure to the cold nights and had to be taken by helicopter to a Boise hospital, but is still alive. This really serves as a warning to other hunters, hikers, …show more content…
This was admitted to on Thursday, just the day prior to the writing of this article. Spot checks done in two laboratories led to concerns about correct shipment and containment of organisms. This resulted in similar checks in several other labs and eventually to the suspension of production, handling and shipping of these viruses across nine laboratories. However, what no one knew until Thursday was that the Bubonic plague was among the organisms being tested and possibly incorrectly handled. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (the CDC) had found several concerns about the shipment of these organisms, but at the moment there is nothing to suggest that the public or workers in these labs are at risk. The Army claims that the black plague was not a fully virulent strain, though that is still being confirmed by the CDC. They also state that the virus was immediately and properly contained, though further investigation is
When authorities first started to investigate Mill Lake, they learned that two of the men had been recovered. Patrick Sack, 20, from Winnetka had also vanished. In addition, they had recovered a third body, but authorities have still not released the name of the missing man. The search continues for the fourth and final victim of the canoe accident.

In December1989, the body of Richard Mallory would be found near Daytona Beach(Biography.com, 2010). He had been shot three times. Six months later, another man was found sot six times with the same gun. Before this body could be identified, a third victim was found. By November 1990, four more men
Instead of a killer, his reconnaissance unearthed another body. In this instance, not one he could dispose of in the mud. Noticing wounds on the head and neck, he marched off to summon help.
Steven Crook’s, the husband of the victim returned home that same day in the afternoon. Mr. Crook contacted the police after not being able to find his wife and noticing that his home had been ransacked. A fisherman discovered Mrs. Crook’s body in the river that same afternoon.
The 14th Century was characterized by death and destruction in Europe. The Bubonic Plague had a devastating impact on European society because of its unprecedented nature, the immediate effect the disease had on the people of Europe, and the long-term effects on the continent. When the Bubonic Plague erupted, most Europeans had no idea what to think. Nothing like this disease had ever happened to them before, and there was very little knowledge about how to handle the ever-worsening situation. In his book The Decameron, Giovanni Boccaccio explained that “No human wisdom or foresight had any value” when it came to the quickly-spreading disease (Doc 2.)
This article is about a man who murdered a store clerk in 1984 in Huntsville, Alabama. This case went through the Alabama Supreme Court and the vote was 7 to 12 not to execute him by capital punishment. However Alabama is the only state in the United States where a murder case can go to the Supreme Court and be voted on there as well. Four of the eight justices decided to let his execution stand. This vote seemed a little peculiar however due to the fact that the United States only has eight court justices at this time. The lack of the fifth deciding vote makes the decision a little harder. This article also explains past situations where the courtesy fifth vote is not present. This article talks about a case that happened previously on transgender rights. A boy from Virginia named Gavin
In the early 1330s, an outbreak of deadly bubonic plague occurred in Europe. The bubonic plague mainly affected rodents, but fleas were also able to transmit the disease to people. Once people were infected, they quickly infected others, which meant the disease spread very rapidly among the population. The plague caused fever and a painful swelling of the lymph glands called buboes. The disease also caused spots on the skin that started out red and eventually turned black, which is where “The Black Death” got its name. (The Black Death: Bubonic Plague) During the 14th century, there seemed to be no rational explanation for what was happening. No one knew exactly how the Black Death was transmitted from one patient to another and no one knew
While the Black Death is still existent today, I was surprised to find that it actually was. There’s also a bit in the story saying that the Bubonic Plague was recorded in a lab, which is frightening in its own right. But it makes sense that modern day healthcare is able to overcome this disease of the

In the CNN article, “Bubonic plague reported in Michigan,” author Greg Botelho tells about how their is another case of the plague. This case has been the only reported case that wasn’t in the west. All other cases had been in the western states, particularly in Colorado, where the most of the recent outbreaks have been. Though, the person in Michigan probably didn’t catch the disease in Michigan, because they had just gotten back from a trip to Colorado. But, it is not for certain that this is the case.
The search for Craig Strickland continued on Tuesday morning as the country singer was caught in a major winter storm in Oklahoma early Sunday morning. The entertainer and his friend, Chase Morland, went duck hunting on Kaw Lake early Sunday morning, but didn’t return after the storm. According to the Washington Post on Tuesday, a search party formed that night after neither man phoned his family and Morland’s body was discovered late Monday.

Emotions are high right now in the United States. Americans are upset with the National Football League over a very personal issue. Many Americans can relate to this in a personal way because they have family members or loved ones in the military. Kneeling during the National Anthem shows disrespect to our military, our citizens, and our nation.
The catholic church and doctors came up with some very weird cures for the plague. Even though they didn't work at all it provided hope for the people. You wouldn't want to be told that there isn't a way to cure it . Some of the cures included putting cooked onions on the buboes, taking a live frog putting on it until the frog burst. They thought the frog would absorb the poison and once the frog burst all the poison would have been absorbed. They also cut the buboes open and drained the fluid out.
