Every Culture has his own rules, characteristics, and has its different aspects. We have to learn how to adapt to those cultures every time we are facing them or we are in an environment that has a culture that is different from ours. We are living in a world where culture has become very important to know and try to adapt to. This paper will focus on analyzing the similarity and differences values, ethic and cultures of two different countries such as Burkina Faso and the US. As we all know, American cultures is an open minded, wide, and free country. Hofstede helps us have a better understanding of how multiples countries have a totally separate dimension. As for an example, Americans are known for their high individualism while Burkina Faso has a low individualism. As much as …show more content…
They take family matter very importantly and always make sure everything is doing in certain manner. They seem to have more concern to people that are apart of them more them individual they do not really know. Furthermore, we will discuss another aspect toward this paper which will also analyze the global impact and trade that happens in those two countries and around the world. Beside the different cultures aspects, we have to also consider their different global aspect and understand how the trading world is affected. It is obvious that because the U.S has more resources than Burkina, they may not provide that much trading. Burkina Faso and the U.S share a good international trade relationship and also have a good business relationship. According to our study, it is proved that the United States of America is the richest country in the world. They are well aware of how poor Burkina Faso is and so are trying to help them by making good business relation. To better understand their relationship, it is important to know their cultural aspects, know what makes Burkina Faso a valuable country and know what the US Is doing to help
In Communications Between Cultures individualism and collectivism are described by researchers as “self-orientation versus collective orientation as one of the basic pattern variables that determine human action.” These differences can be found in family life, school, and workplace
Because my neighbor is considered suburban it often gets a bad rep. A lot of people think that suburbs are boring and aren't interesting. As this suggests, the problem is also cultural. For the most part, American culture and opinion are still created, even in the Internet age, in cities at either edge of the continent. If intellectuals do deign to look at the suburbs they assume that so much banality must be hiding something deeply
Living as a Messianic Jew in America presents a threefold problem with culture. In many ways, I have my feet in three, dare one say four, differing cultures that are always fighting against each other. The first is an American culture which is moving more towards an atheistic culture and wants to bury its need for G-d under many differing ideas where a one person thinks they can make a difference by doing something of no value. The second culture is a Christian sub-culture. Christianity which has been the dominate religion for so long that many will think that being American makes one a Christian and thereby loses it value of meaning and salvation. Christianity second part of culture is the attempt to take over the culture and accepting it into the church service because many Christians feel a desperate need to be relevant. The third is a Jewish sub-culture. While Jews make up about 2% of the population and the religious jews make up less than a a fifth of Jews in America. Yet, the bonds to synagogue are closer to the Jewish
1,165 miles south of Atlanta, lies a fairly small island in the Caribbean Sea named Jamaica. This country is no bigger than the state of Rhode Island, yet holds its own unique culture. My mother and grandmother migrated to America about twenty years ago. About ten years ago my Grandmother and Uncle started a Jamaican shop, “Caribbean Connection” that sold an array of Caribbean goods and cooked a good selection of Jamaican dishes. This shop is my family’s way of preserving our culture. I don’t actually recall learning my family’s native language, which they call Patios, or otherwise known as Broken English or Creole English. Certain things such as religion, mannerism, our language, our food and our customs are very important to my family and
A) There were a couple of things that surprised me when I started citizenship classes. First, the urge that some students had to feel like they were a part of the American culture. During, some conversations that I held with students, some felt like they were not a part of the American culture, nor their native country. In all, feeling alienated and shunned by non-immigrants in the United States. In lecture, we spoke that migrants felt like “they were not here, nor there,” and I can only imagine what it is like not to be a part of society, simply because they made a sacrifice to improve my family’s lives. We also, have to take into consideration that many of the students were aware that they were still at risk of deportation, being
The moment I wake up in the morning thinking that my day would be exactly as I expect it, shaped of beliefs, values, morals, and the views on diversity, means that it would be a great day. However, I can’t only thank these sources for whom I am, my own personal experiences and feelings have had a huge impact on my cultural views. I’m a sport loving player, who was raised in a small town in Cuba, Pinar Del Rio. In 2009, I completed my journey from my home country, to the land of freedom “United States”, but it has always been of major importance to not forget my roots, and to remember my cultural heritance. And like any other immigrant, it is very important to assimilate and try to fit in the American culture.
I agree with you about the change in the culture. I think that many people left agriculture and moved into urban areas because of the lack of work on the farm. This was blamed on the falling off of agriculture products being sent to Europe after the war. The people moved into the urban areas and the American industrial economy was booming and the people had money like they never had in the past. So the culture of these people changed and they became buyers of the new products that were invented. Because they had money to spend, their lives
In the year of 2018, there are many trending issues catching the attention of American citizens. These issues are not only in the United States, but around the world. In effort to display the American culture best, the three ¨items¨ I would put into my time capsule would be heroin, stem cells, and college tuition/loans.
My topic of interest is regarding how have Hispanics began to enter American Society and how have they assimilated or integrated to become part of it? Hispanics are a minority group who have overcome many struggles and stereotypes throughout history. It is important to know how it all started and how they managed to become such a huge part of todays society. Hispanics Americans constitute more than 15% of the U.S population, and the number is still growing. It is the country’s largest ethnic minority group.
The world we live in is such a unique and diverse place, and with new technological advances being made every day, we are becoming more intertwined and in tune with each other. With a click of a button, we have to ability to view and chat with others that live on the opposite side of the world. With that being said, we are also being exposed to a multitude of cultures, beliefs, and traditions that may be quite different from our own, and some cultural practices can be seen as immoral when viewing them from an outsider’s perspective. In order to evaluate these practices practically and properly, there are three theories that can be used when evaluating the morality of practices from other cultures. These three theories include ethical relativism,
Throughout the premodern period, we see how the nature of cross-cultural trade, migration, and disease is related to how certain historical events has taken place. It is understood how the nature of cross-cultural trade, migration, and disease effected the civilization during the premodern era through documented evidence such as Journey of Faxian to India, Journey of Friar of Pian de Carpine to the Court of Kuyuk Khan, 1245-1247, Pegolotti’s Merchant Handbook, The Decamaron, Novel 1 of the 3rd Day. These documents historically identified numerous reasons as to why certain events occurred that effected the nature of cross-cultural trade, migration, and disease.
I do believe that there is such a thing as American culture. I know it’s hard to see America as having it’s own culture because the US is considered a melting pot, and so many different cultures contribute to our everyday lives, but the US does have it’s own culture. Just as other cultures influenced the United States, the US has also influenced other cultures.
Culture is very important to individuals, especially for those who reside in the culturally-diverse United States. The United States can be compared to a salad bowl; different cultures and people are involved and tossed together to make one beautiful and delicious salad. People consider culture as a way to celebrate and acknowledge their own traditions and beliefs. It is very easy to keep these traditions when everyone upholds the same respect for them, but, in a world where America is considered as one of the most diverse countries in the world, it is very hard to uphold one absolute culture. While it is a beautiful notion to be so culturally diverse, children of immigrants suffer with identity issues and where they stand as an American. With several stereotypes against first-generation children, such as Asian-Americans being portrayed as the “model minority”, it proves that first-generation Asian-Americans has to go through a lot to determine how they should balance their Asian history and American upbringing. Cultural syncretism is defined as “a concept that refers to the social processes by which the beliefs and practices of two cultures mix and create a new cultural characteristics” (what). This definition is what best describes the experience that Eddie Huang had in his youth. “Fresh off the Boat” is his memoir and a TV show that takes audience back to Eddie’s childhood where he and his family struggles from being the only Asian in a white-dominated community. The
The United States of America being the third largest country in the world with more than 315 million inhabitants, consists of multicultural societies with ethnically diverse population. Since there are a lot of foreigners, the US culture has evolved in such a way accepting and tolerating other foreign cultures. US is very much influenced by protestant work ethics according to which people believe in themselves and their efforts to attain the goal of self-actualization and success. The rich diversity in the culture brought by foreigners, prevailing values of protestant ethics, hard work etc. have helped US to emerge as a superpower in the past years. Nearly every religion had its impact on US culture in one way or the other. The
