When I was younger my mother forced me to learn piano by going to private lessons, I wasn’t interested in learn piano. Later when I took my first private lesson, I felt that learning piano wasn’t bad at all. When I can play my first song well, that is when I’m so interested in piano. Right after I step back in my house, I ran to the piano and start playing songs. Everyday I always playing the piano and I always felt excited to go to private lessons and get more songs. Music is life. Music makes you feel relaxing and being away from your families, friends, and you travel into another world. It is a world full of music that surrounded you with music. Music also makes you feel less stress from school and other busy stuff. Music brings me so much happiness – it really is very important to my life.

While most parents want their child to become a pro athlete, lawyer, or doctor, it is very uncommon for a parent to want their child to become a musician. The reason being is that the average musician does not make as much money as a pro athlete, lawyer or doctor. When in reality being a musician is not about the money, it is about self expression and elevating the mind which is more valuable than currency. Music is essential to people’s lives because it controls basic human emotions, for example, when one listens to sad songs one declines in mood or if one listens to something upbeat one feels the need to dance. This is called the Greek Doctrine of Ethos which was written in the 4th century B.C.E by the great Greek philosophers Aristotle and Plato. The Doctrine is still relevant today how for numerous reasons “Aristotle, in his politics explains the different kinds of music imitating specific feeling (anger, kindness, love), can affect a human being with the same kind of feelings. Therefore, says Aristotle, someone who listens to the wrong kind of music will grow up to be bad person and become a good person if they listen to good influencing music. Consequently, Aristotle (and also Plato) recommended the right kind of music in the education of young citizens” (The Ancient, 2009). While listening to music stimulates the brain, playing a musical instrument works both sides of the brain. Thus, playing a musical instrument affects a child’s brain development in various ways.

Music is a piece of art that goes into the ears straight to the heart. For some people it helps them to escape from the reality they live in. It helps to heal, it’s an expression of humanity, and it’s something we are all touched by. It’s like a voice and it speaks to us in many different ways. It can heal us from painful or stressful situations, helps us to study and do homework, and it helps us to motivate ourselves to exercise. No matter what culture we’re from, everyone loves music. Everybody is passionate about music and there is so many different types of music. For example, classical, rock, piano, r&b, k-pop, opera, latin, country, and etc. There’s so many more types of genres of music but everybody loves all different types of music and we listen to music based on our emotions and how we’re feeling.

For thousands of years music has been an integral component to our creativity and development. Music serves as an escape route for many of us. Its somewhere where you can leave your most complex and personal thoughts for the world to see, or better yet listen. Or it can be where you let your mind float off into the tranquil melodic vibes of the song.
