a. Attention Getter Did you know 46% of the world population is considered a soccer fan? That’s 3.5 billion people out of 7.5 billion currently in the world’s population which is very close to half. Which makes soccer the most popular sport in the world.
b. Revealed Object & Speaker Credibility: This is a soccer ball and it is essential to the soccer culture. I just recently started playing soccer again, and I joined a team which plays on Friday nights. On the team I play defender, my task is to try and stop my opponents from scoring a goal.

Sub-point A: My role in the soccer culture is a position known as defender or more accurately know as left back. My objective throughout the match is to stop my opponents from scoring. Soccer is in my DNA thanks to my dad. All my brothers play and so did my mom at one point in her life. Soccer has always brought us together whether it was by playing it or watching it.
b. Sub-point B: Within the soccer culture there is different ways one communicates with the team whether it’s with hand signals or short phrases like “open”, “run the line”, or “man on”. Everyone in the soccer culture believes in fair play and teamwork. Soccer requires unity in a team to perform well as a whole and win. There are strict rules in soccer and there is always a referee to control the game.

For this assignment, I designed a PSA to influence the audience’s perception of the values of football. Current cultural trends have become extremely critical of the game of football. Some people have concerns over the safety of the game, while others have questioned the violent nature of the game, and its influence over those who play it. My PSA was designed to address those who criticize the culture of football. I presented my argument through examples of football players who have become incredibly successful after football. I wanted to show that football is more valuable to society as a teacher of lessons, rather than just a game.
