Cabin in the Woods is about a group of five friends who travel to a cousin’s cabin for the weekend. Once there, they quickly release a horde of zombies upon themselves and chaos ensues. Despite the typical beginning, this movie attempts to put a fresh spin on the classic horror model and somewhat succeeds. Along with the group of friends, several workers appear to be directing the action from behind the scenes. They provide a sort of unneeded comic relief from the disaster occurring above them. The humor and drastic change of scenery takes the viewer away from the horror landscape and draws them out of the engaging and scarier story in the cabin.
The first narrative at the cabin is easy to follow, as it is a straight forward, typical horror movie plot of zombies killing

The second in the underground work area is more complicated, but also more original and intriguing. These two narratives together manage to add some originality to the film and keep the viewer interested in what would otherwise be a basic horror film. The monsters are constantly cloaked in darkness, difficult to spot and sneaking up on their victims unexpectedly. This method provides many good jump-scares and keeps the suspense high as the viewer is never sure if they are safe, even in an otherwise quiet, comforting scene. There are, however, also several scenes with weaker jump scares. One such example is in the beginning of the movie when the title is suddenly plastered onto the screen with a loud blast of music. Cheap jump scares like this take away from the feeling of horror found other places in this film.
At what seems like it would be the end of the movie,
Although the usage of language is easy, there are a lot of foreshadowings in the story that will give you hints about the strange events.
Ever since the creation of horror there has been more than what meets the surface. Movies in the horror genre require much attention to the details of the film. Whether it be sound, acting, visuals, and the overall foreshadowing of the story. A truly good horror movie utilizes all key aspects of suspense. The 1980s horror movie The Shining, directed by Stanley Kubrick utilized these aspects very well. The New York Times and The Atlantic Monthly are both known for being very complex reads, so people must be very intelligent to understand them. Authors Guillermo Del Toro and Chuck Hogan use high vocabulary words such as “enthrone,” “pandemic,” and “archetypal” to show the difficulty of this reading. This
The surprise horror is created through a dramatic presentation of events or a sudden shocker. By timing a motion or noise correctly the viewer experiences the danger themselves of a situation. The scene that best uses surprise horror in the film is when Willard and the character Chief are in the jungle looking for mangos. The two are suddenly attacked by a tiger from out of

The movie had a lot of killing in it. The First death was Lila. When she was in the shower and she tried her best to protect herself. You could tell that they could not show a lot of her body and they did not show a lot of blood either. When the detective was killed he fell down the stairs. In this case also they did not show a lot of his body and did not show much blood. I felt like it was less scary because the visual horror was mostly kept from the

‘The Cabin in The Wood’ is a typical horror/slasher movie. Five friends go for a break at remote cabin in the woods, where they get more than they bargained for. After watching both scenes, I had a different perspective about one each scene. The first scene that I watch give me a sense of a horror movie just by the sound effects. The sound was not bad, but there is some that I would have used a different effect. Therefore, I would have added squeaking to the floor to add a little more suspense. The music that was add was a good fit for a horror was a nonlinear sound. I Like the swipe sound toward the end because without seeing what was pulled out you still had a sense that it was a knife. The scream was more of a scared scream which fit the concept of the scene.
Ambient music and sound effects enhance the diegetic and non-diegetic sounds, The difficult thing to do while analyzing the non-diegetic sounds in horror films will be understanding the use of recorded and synthesized sound to create a fully immersive scenario that the audience can be
What was that? DeNyce thought as she shivered in the tent. It was chilly that night, but not enough to make you genuinely shiver. The blood-curdling scream she’d heard came from the broken-down, spooky house that her friends were in. [at least she thought] Were the rumours true that Nancy had said? No, DeNyce consoled herself, Ghosts aren’t real. She didn’t want to say anything to make her presence known to whoever or whatever was there! Wait a minute, it’s 12:01 a.m! It’s my birthday! DeNyce thought to herself, my friends aren’t even here to celebrate… like always… Come to think of it, I wonder where my friends are… I feel hurt they sort of abandoned me here. She heard the wind whistling outside, the owls hooting, and saw the faint lights of cars on the evening of Halloween. This environment was like a horror movie! DeNyce was concerned about the safety of her friends if it was this scary in the tent. What can I do… I can stay here like a coward, or go out there and help my friends! It took DeNyce a minute to think, seeing and saving her friends was her main priority.
