A hero has many characteristics, but who should be the judge of what makes a person fit for that role? This is a question that is commonly brought up when debating whether Crispus Attucks should be considered a hero or a disruptor. Crispus Attucks played an important role in events leading up to the American Revolution and because of his courageous acts at these events, Crispus Attucks should be viewed as a hero. To begin, Crispus Attucks was the first African American to die at the Boston Massacre. He was the one that initiated the confrontation and with this courage Attucks began his story as a hero. In the articleCrispus Attucks by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar he states, ".it was a black man who ignited the confrontation that led to the war. Here was the first American martyr, and …show more content…
This furthermore supports the idea that Crispus Attucks is an American hero. Another reason Attucks is a hero is his courageous, selfless acts that ultimately led to him sacrificing his life for a greater good. This is illustrated in the article when he states, "Fortunately for him, it was thuggery for the right side. Also, and this is important: Here was an escaped slave with no education and very little at stake in anything... and yet he was the first to risk his skin for a way of life, and maybe for a better life." This shows how Attucks' actions were seen as positive because of the impact that they had on our lives, but it also reveals how these efforts demonstrate the kind of person Attucks was. By sacrificing his life for a bigger cause, he portrays himself as a hero that has brought a new opportunity to us for change. Now, some may argue that Attucks' actions didn't have the motive to start change and that, "... he was down there agitating; it was a riot, not a peaceful demonstration." It could be argued that his actions were negatively rooted, but it's the events that followed that shaped Attucks as a heroic figure that brought
The Crucible was created to described what really happened in these witch trials, and the effects it had on the Colony itself. There was more than 50 men and women accused of witchcraft but less than 20 were hung. The town embraced their trials as a template for their envy of hate.

The text, “From Crispus Attucks”, is a persuasive article written by Kareem Abdul-Jabbur. The article is about the American hero, Crispus Attucks, and why he is known. The author expresses how he feels about Crispus Attucks and his actions. The author personally thinks Crispus Attucks was a hero, and I agree with him; Crispus Attucks was a hero because he didn’t step down when fighting soldiers and he wasn’t afraid to take risks when it came to defending himself and others. Crispus Attucks was a hero because he didn’t step down when fighting soldiers who had guns.

I believe Connie was murdered and raped by Arnold. I wish that was the case that he dropped her off at the hospital or even back at home with her family. Like you stated, I highly doubt he had a change of heart. She was a misguided teen who wanted to be more mature than she actually was. A sad story that left us all guessing what happened to her. The kid defiantly had a lot of mental issues.
John Brown had devoted his entire life to freeing slaves proving that John Brown is an American Hero. John Brown is a hero because he has proven to stay loyal to abolishing slavery. In the text, “John Brown: America's First Terrorist?”, John Brown is described as, “A white man willing to die to end slavery” (Finkelman 1). John Brown is standing up for what he believes to be right. He is stating his beliefs and sticking to them.
Did you know that even though Abraham Lincoln thought that John Brown was a villain, even though he also was against the practice of slavery? But I can tell you why John Brown was a hero. Most people say that John Brown was a bad person for the treason he committed, but there are still many reasons he was a hero, and why he committed the treason and murder. The importance of this is that people think he was bad for the treason he committed, but I have many reasons why he was a hero. This is why John Brown is a hero and how he helped end the practice of slavery.
Chris Greicius was like any other seven year old with a dream; his dream was to be a police officer. However Chris was diagnosed with Leukemia, and was going to die. His dream to “catch the bad guys” (Make-A-Wish® America) to make the world safer motivated him through his journey. When Chris’s wish came true and has a police officer for the day, they knew they could make a difference. Then on May 3rd Chris lost his fight against Leukemia, but he was not forgotten. Instead he started up one of the best organizations to support today, Make A Wish. That summer of Chris’s passing, a group of working-class DPS officers, friends and family gathered, which marks the beginning of Make-A-Wish” (Real Make a Wish website). “By the following spring the
When you see yourself living out your dream, the thought of what you're most passionate about pulls you in. Passions in one's life change based on what had affected that person. Dreams are defined to change. However, the benefits of these thoughts is that they belong to you and only you. Not one person's opinions matter but your own. Chris McCandless simply was living out his own ideal life, the way he wanted; not to the idea of his parents, his friends or of society. McCandless wanted to escape society and civilization which he felt was tying him down, while also trying to discover himself. McCandless is not by any means a wacko. He was simply defying society and its ideal expectation it holds upon us as a whole.
In current times, history portrays George Washington as a fearless legend and, to many, the first American hero. A hero can be defined as a person who displays great courage, is favored by the gods, and is celebrated for their bold exploits. Although Washington’s early military career was fraught with failure, his reputation remained unscathed. Because Washington was able to maintain a pristine image, he was able to grow as both a military and political leader. Thus, based on his overall military career, George Washington should be remembered as an American hero.
Every state should’ve been like Longtown in the America 200 years ago because Longtown was a free place for everyone no matter their color. Longtown needs to be taken care of the most because it’s the first town where race and color didn't matter. An article published by Washington Post titled “Ohio town holds rare history:Races mix freely for nearly 200 years” and a youtube video called “Vanishing Act” both explains how a town in Ohio was one of the first places to be free of discrimination. According to Washington Post, a descendant of James Clemens who brought the land for Longtown named Connor Keisser stated that in his childhood memories he used to play with cousins that had different skin colors. Longtown was the first place where there
For one, in the article “Ben Franklin”, the author notes that Franklin did not actually fight in any battles. The article discredits Franklin stating that he, “...did not fight in the Revolution” (Wattenberg 5). While some argue a person is not a hero unless he sets foot on the battlefield, that is an unfair position to take. Ben Franklin might not have been a solider, but he contributed heroically in intellectual and political ways instead. In addition, the author addresses that he did not mind that his friend was working for Britain.
It is difficult to say he is the same person since he has been altered by the implant; Mark Carver is not really himself because of the implant. However, this discussion is dependent on a person perspective of the situation. I personally believe that Mark Carver, who kills Anderson, is not the real Mark Carver because he has been changed by the implant, making him someone different. Mark Carver believes killing is wrong. I believe that it matters if we change our minds about something naturally to artificially, because when changing it to artificial you are interrupting the natural process that makes everything the way it is.
The most celebrated heroes take a stance because it is right to do so, not because they believe they will walk away with their lives. Such selfless courage is a victory in itself. An example of a person who epitomizes all the aspects of courageousness
The information provided was not enough to make a valid argument. According to article #1.1: “the study done for Secretary of War Stimson predicted five to ten million Japanese fatalities” however, there is no mention of a study for Stimson related to Japanese casualties in the actual article; instead the statement refers to American casualties. Also there are no supporting facts that some Japanese actually supported the bombing or that many lives were saved because of the
