A fortnight passed, and Percy and his siblings spent extra time with Will. After coming close to losing him, they all got along better than ever. “Nothing like a near death to bind a family,” said Yale one evening. “I almost died,” replied Will proudly, though he did not seem to comprehend how close he had actually come to expiring. At supper, Yale even declared his jokes about Percy’s “big penis” had run their course, and he would not mention them again. With The Trials a mere fortnight away, Percy trained harder than ever, though the intense physical work did little to quell his rising anger.
