I Grew up Here
I come from the little town of Haubstadt, IN where the green grass grows and the breeze blows over radiant farm land at every glance. I come from the town where the drinking age is 12 and there isn’t one person that you don’t know. I come from the town with a different weather pattern daily; it may be snowing one day and sunny the next. I come from the town that is home of the sommerfest consisting of wild music, carnival rides, and endless fun. Oh, and you can’t forget the Christmas celebrations either because they are a hit. They are filled with golf carts decorated in lights and hot chocolate while standing around a tree like family singing Christmas carols. I come from a town filled with Gibson Southern fans supporting our
One day, cutting through the swamp, David comes across the remains of old Indian souls and discovers a skull with jewelry still buried on the bodies. As David kicks at the skull, he hears a voice and looks up to see a black man seated on a stump just looking. The man, wearing a black sash around his body, has a soot-stained face, which makes it appear as if he works in some fiery place. David soon recognizes the stranger as the devil, the black man. Twenty years later we had a family reunion with all my relatives and they started talking about the fire.

I comfortably drive my car into the desolate street, Perusing the deserted buildings, Smashes windows and rusted For Sale signs. The car locked up like Fort Knox. I observe the street for trouble. Two young boys look at me from afar as if I'm an alien. Do I stand out that much same greasy hair, expensive clothes, a smart car I suppose I am out of my comfort zone? “Mister, you don’t belong here” his hand gripped his switch. “Pony.... Ponyboy Curtis” I stammer “I live here or at least I did, I'm here to see two-bit’ The Boys turn around “geez his old now” the boy's chirp. The boys stroll away in awe that they saw the great Ponyboy.
Sunshine was pouring out from in between the buildings, casting shadows all around Ponyboy and the gang as they walked to Pony’s school. They were taking their time walking down the streets and for the first time they all were really seeing what was all around them. Memories were surfacing in their minds showing them what it all meant to them. With every step they took on the sidewalk they remembered a different memory as if they were walking down memory lane. Ponyboy didn’t think it was possible for him to be walking down this street for the last time as a high school student, but he had gone through the years with great grades that earned him many scholarships.
My first memory that I have of Hotchkiss was the day that I was enrolled in kindergarden. It was the first time that I had seen the town since we had moved here from Texas. To a kid who had never seen anything other than endless acres of shrubs and mesquite trees, the towering mountains and greenery blew me away. For months I would spend all of my time after school exploring where I lived and biking around town with my friends. As the years have gone by this tiny town has still kept that certain magic that enthralled me as a kid, if only in a more reminiscent way rather than just pure wonder. However, the most important part of Hotchkiss to me is the effect that it had on who I am. From the day that I became a part of this lovely town, I have learned three major values that have played a key role in the decisions I’ve made. These values were hard work, community, and pride.
After saying goodnight to Simon and Magnus, Clary quickly shut the door to the library. The hallway was silent and still as the ocean tide, she had heard Lilian call for her just as her best friends in the world told her their goodbyes for the night. Magnus had conjured up a portal which would take him and Simon back to the village where they lived. Simon lived in a simple but modest house, on the outskirts of town, on a farm with his Mother and older sister. Magnus however, resided in a small, comfortable loft just above the local clothing store.
I play football here at ULM and we have been in our fall camp for the last 23 days. It is a mental, physical, and emotional strain and tensions are running high. One day early on in camp we were out in the blistering heat practicing. We were almost finished when we called a screen pass and I was going to be the main blocker for the play and if I messed up it wouldn't work. Then as soon as the ball was snapped I stepped with the wrong foot first. This slowed me down and the defender was able to clobber our receiver behind the line of scrimmage. My position coach, Coach Clark, immediately ran over yelling, "What are you doing? Where is the direction you can't lose your man on that play?" I knew what I had done wrong, "I can't let him get up the
A blue house, red shutters, and a white picket fence with a border collie. Three kids are running around in the front lawn up on a hilltop. That is what the American dream is right? The American dream is truly in the eye of the beholder. One might think that the American dream is an apartment in downtown Los Angeles, but others might want the smell of fresh cut grass in a small suburb. It’s whatever the person who is working for it wants it to be. As we can see in the play, all of the main characters might be striving for an American dream, but none of them are striving for their same American dream.
"Wake up, partners," the trail boss, James called. I sleepily looked up , shivered, and saw I was the only one not up. "Here," James said, giving me the horses' bridles and saddles. "Take these and get the horses ready. We have a long day today." I groaned in reply and set up the horses for the day's long drag. I was the horse wrangler and this was my everyday job but I still couldn't get use to the idea of waking up before the sun and working. We drove the cattle into open plains against the winter's cold wrath.
suicide, loss of relationships, or difficulty in everyday life. Anger and mood swings as well as isolating oneself from emotional connection, is another negative response from repressing a traumatic experience. Oftentimes one is not aware that they are suppressing anything, they just know that something is wrong. Seeking mental health care can be difficult for some people depending on where they live, their income, or insurance coverage. Until relatively recently PTSD was not categorized as an actual medical disorder, however long before being recognized, people suffered a lot of indignity over having it.
The aroma of schnitzel, pomme frites, and café filled the air, as we would walk the road from our home to downtown Wiesbaden. My family and I must have walked that path hundreds of times. The lights lining Wilhelmstrasse at night, large Weinachtsmarkts in the winter and the Rhein Main Grille are the most vivid memories of my time spent outside of the United States. Fall and winter were my favorite times of the year because of the many celebrations during the holiday season. My family made life-long friends at our favorite restaurants, such as the Rhein-Main Grille, as well as the owners of the local markets.
"Sometimes you gotta let something bad happen, or else you wont know how to fix things when they go wrong later."

For purposes that exist outside of the narratives, both Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream and the first eighteen sonnets of his published sequence are self-referential. This is evident as his sonnets explore the notion of preserving the subject’s beauty by establishing themselves as the primary method in which this may occur in order to win favour with a potential patron. On the other hand, A Midsummer Night’s Dream employs this technique in order to comment on the notion of classical love, achieved through allegory, meta-theatricality and the representation of love demonstrated by character relationships. With the intentions of currying a patron’s favour and making comment on the supposed fable of classical love, these works by Shakespeare are both self-referential and allegorical.
