Davy, a 13 year old child, adopted son to a same sex couple, was asked to invite his parents to his class, to speak about their professions for career day. At first Davy was reluctant. He feared his classmates would make fun of him and his parents for who they were. He didn’t want to have his parents made fun of by the students. To his dismay, both his parents, eagerly agreed to come speak to his class on career day. “These are my parents, Rey and Allan.” Davy said, introducing his parents to the entire class on career day. A silence fell over the classroom. Davy was sure that not even the flies buzzed. The students looked at Davy’s parents speechless and shocked. Finally, the silence was broken when Raymond, the class joker and bully commented, …show more content…
But he didn’t take the bait, instead, he said, “Papa Rey is treating us to one of his tasty home cooked meals.” Katy hadn’t expected that reply, so it took her a moment to react. Blinking slowly, she asked, “Your dad cooks too?” Davy nodded enthusiastically. “He’s a pretty good chef, tonight he’s making his chicken stir-fry.” Katy was amazed, it seemed there was more to Davy’s parents than their particular high paying careers, or the fact they were gay. Her mouth watered on the mention of stir-fry, it had been forever since she ate something that tasty. “Davy, let’s go!” Allan waved at him from the cash register. Waving back to Allan, Davy smiled at Katy, saying, “See ya!” Katy nodded and watched him go and interact with his parents. They looked like a typical family composed of a mother, father and kids. There was no mistaking the strong bond between Davy and his parents and the love they had for each other. In fact, it was not different than what she was used to seeing with other families, or even her own. Watching them so happy made Katy feel nostalgic. They reminded her of the way her family used to be, before her mom succumbed to …show more content…
Davy laughed and joined in the banter, loving to have a good time with his parents, even when they were playfully embarrassing him. “What do we have here?” Raymond taunted the very next day. “If it isn’t momless gay boy.” Laughed Hunter. “Up for another dumpster dunk?” Raymond snickered, getting too close for comfort. Davy stepped back, but before he could say anything, Katy stepped between them. Holding her arms out, she said, “Haven’t you bullied him enough times already?” Raymond and hunter laughed. “Come on Katy, you going soft on us?” Raymond asked, pushing her with his elbow. “It doesn’t feel right.” Katy protested. “No one is making you, so step away and let us handle this woos.” Hunter grumbled, picking Katy up and effortlessly putting her aside. “Davy, run.” She mouthed and Davy took her advice. He ran down the hall, making heads turn and look with wonder as he passed by. “You can run, but you can’t hide!” laughed Raymond and Hunter, letting him run away like a frightened mouse. Davy thought he’d escaped them, until, he went biking at the neighborhood park. There, he came across Raymond and Hunter, who seemed to have been waiting for

“Oh Hugh, why can’t you get some actual friends? You are spending far too much time at that Ivoca village.” Mother responded.
“Don’t push yourself too hard, you two, I don’t wanna have to carry you back to the inn!” Orion said.
“But I-” Caylee was cut off, “I said we’ll talk about it later.” Caylee’s mom got up and went to do the dishes. Caylee’s father got up and gave Caylee a quick smile followed by an eyeroll. Caylee chuckled.
“That wasn’t a question.” KC thought that would be a good exit line so she turned to leave.
He explained that he'd taken the family's favorite recipe and added a little something new. The children asked what it was.
“Maggie, we have some stuff that we want to talk to you about,” Rachel explained, not liking the way this conversation was heading. “And with Kelly reading lips and all maybe she shouldn’t be in the room.”
“That 's right son; he sure does,” Henry smiled. “Now, let 's get in there and eat, before your mama gets mad at us for making her wait any longer.”
Ma had never followed her own advice, unless Pa and the boys were drinking. Alma had never had reason to until the morning Pa hit her. She stared down and stirred the beans. She couldn’t do it, after a minute or so she raised her head and spoke to Gabe. “Don’t have nothing but these beans and bread. Bread’s near done, beans won’t be ready until supper time. Wish I had some meat to fry up with it.”
“He said he has no use for them anymore, he got what he needed, and we are to eliminate them,” the second man replied. My eyes widened and I looked over at Hunter, honestly scared for my life.
We were all filled with joy and couldn't stop smiling. At the moment I realized that I wasn't the baby of the family anymore. Our birthdays are two days apart from each other and our names are kind of similar. When I first saw her she was screaming and hollering I instantly felt a connection with her. Since that K’Anna and I couldn’t be separated, and we developed a close bond.
