Aurorah- Rae, as you are showing an interest in dramatic play I wondered if you would enjoy playing the game “Jack In A Box”. To play this game we needed a box, which I found and a group of interested friends to help us play. We all sat in a circle and then I explained all the rules of this game to the group. First, you had to sit in the box, then we sang the song “Jack in the Box.” When I got to the line “Will you come out, will you come out, yes I will” you needed to jump up. Then when I sang the line “What can you do,” you needed to think of an action that you could do like clapping, stomping, waving, or rolling your hands. You rolled your arms, stomped your feet, and waved your hands. I was really proud of how well you remembered the rules of the game, how long you concentrated for. What Learning Is Taking Place/What I Know About You: Aurorah, while you were playing the Jack in the Box Game you were strengthening your memory and recall. Throughout this song you had to memorise information, in this case being the instructions (when to stand up and an action you could perform). Aurorah, this learning experience also helped you develop your listening skills and your ability to follow directions. In order to successfully participate in this game you needed to pay attention and follow my instructions and cues. Aurorah, throughout this game you were learning to be a good group participant by taking turns, participating, following instructions, and cooperating with your peers to make the game successful and enjoyable for all. Aurorah, finally this learning experience fostered your interest in dramatic play as it allowed you to take on the role of pretending to be a Jack in the Box, who jumped up out of her box
