Tyler was tired. He didn’t exactly remember why, and he didn’t want to try to, either because it would take too much energy. He could have been doing homework, or he could have been playing video games. He didn’t really care. He said goodnight to Jake, his dog. Surprisingly, he didn’t fall asleep instantaneously. It was like his body didn’t want him to sleep.
Suddenly, he was on a tower in a castle. He had a bow, and there were a bunch of zombies below him. He was aware he was dreaming, but this didn’t seem like a nightmare. It was fun, almost like a game. He wasn’t the only one on the tower. A collection of people were also there with him. They didn’t look very medieval, more like Jedi. Jake got up, stiffly. Then he lunged at Tyler.
He woke up in a cylindrical room. It had no door, windows, or any way to get out. Tyler couldn’t even understand how he could breathe. He didn’t mind having some time to think. He knew that he was dreaming, and whenever he died in his dream he went to a new dream. It already seemed like it had been way more than a night of dreaming. Maybe if he went through enough dreams he would wake up. All he had to do was die in each dream. Tyler laughed.
“All I have to do is die in every dream. Never thought I’d say that,” whispered Tyler. He kept laughing, then stopped because he probably sounded crazy. Then he got to the task of wondering what he was going to do. Tyler didn’t know how long he waited in the room. It could have been years, it could have been seconds. Then he noticed that the ground had become slippery. Then it was like the floor was a puddle. He couldn’t find where the water was coming from. It rose to his ankles. Then to his knees. It kept rising until Tyler could swim in it. Not that he would want to, seeing as the water was freezing cold. As it rose, it got hotter, until the water was at his shoulders and it was as hot as a hot spring.
‘Maybe that’s where I am. Stuck in some underground hot spring’ thought Tyler. Luckily, he could swim, but the water kept rising until it became unbearably hot and he couldn’t touch the bottom. He didn’t know whether he would be boiled alive or
