“The Count of Monte Cristo” by Alexandre Dumas, and a scene from, “Blessings” by Mary Hall Surface have many similarities and differences. They both give off a feeling of calmness that led to the characters expressing their true feelings. But, in one story the characters were able to live freely and the other were stuck in jail. The main similarity is the character's feeling that they can say or do whatever they are thinking in the moment. In “The Count of Monte Cristo”, “He saw but one means of restoring lucidity and clearness to his judgement.” “He soon felt that his ideas became again collected ------ he could think, and strengthen his thoughts by reasoning.” He was able to think clearly and have peace of mind. He could make good judgement and continue out his plans. He banged the stone and he knew that no one was coming to set him free. In the excerpt from …show more content…
That is one thing that sets “The Count of Monte Cristo” apart from “Blessings”. Jesse and Rene are as free as birds as they sit and think about life up on the looking spot. That is the main thing that makes these stories different. That makes the characters from one story think and act differently then the characters from the other. These similarities and differences help better understand the theme in each passage. I believe the theme in, “The Count of Monte Cristo” is to fight through tough times, and believe in yourself. I think this because that's what Edmond did. He didn’t care he was in jail and really let out all of his emotions. He problem solved and concluded what was going on with the noises. The theme in “Blessings” is tell the truth. I believe this because when they started sharing their feeling they became closer as friends and knew what each other were actually thinking. Overall they both share a theme of expressing feelings and speaking truthfully. Neither characters held anything back and just let their emotions
The two stories were alike in the fact that both authors lost their parents at a very young age. Since they lost their parents at a young age, they were both raised by their grandparents. Both stories also begin with a safe arrival to a new country. Both also said the journey to the new country was a two month long trip. And lastly, the the refugees and the pilgrims traveled to a completely different continents and had to adapt to new cultures. These are all the similarities between the two stories.
The similarity and connection existing between the two stories is the point of view in the two essays. The stories are both written in the first person perspective and that
The similarities between the two stories speak of life's lessons and the sometimes-painful road we have to take in order to gain life
In the passages The Count of Monte Cristo and Blessings, the theme is discovered in different ways. They both have a great meaning and are delivered in interesting ways. The text includes details that help discover the theme. Although they give clues on the theme, they do not just say what the theme is. Therefore, you must try to figure it out from the clues.
First, the plots of both works need to be discussed and explained how they are different. The stories of both works have basically the same
One of the similarities that both passages portray consists of the style of writing, the way the author carries out the messages allow the audience to understand the
n my mind this means in you can grant someone with freedom, do not worry about getting it yourself you do not deserve it. These two stories affected me because I value having my freedom. All the similarities and differences are related to the way the society runs and it’s lack of freedom. Within this essay, I am going to tell you about how the book Anthem and the movie The Island are similar and different.
For example, Night and Life is Beautiful are both centered around their similar themes. Their common theme is that when someone has another person to love and something to hope for, they are capable of incredible things. In Night, Elie and his father’s love and hope depend on each other. As long as they were both alive, Elie as well as his father had a reason to stay alive and maintain their hope. But once Elie’s father died, the one person Elie could put his love and hope into was gone. In Life is Beautiful, Guido’s family all depend on each other. The father depends on his son and wife; the son depends on his mother and father; and the mother depends on her son and husband. They each put a little bit of their hope and love into each other. So, when Guido dies, a little part of his wife and son dies as well taking a small part of their hope and love with him. Another similarity between these two fascinating stories is the father-son relationship. As stated in the previous similarity, they rely on each other. However, these two relationships are different within their similarity. Between Elie and Chlomo, Elie’s father, they had a strong relationship that kept them going through everything. At one point, Elie even helped his father get the marching pattern right so Chlomo would not get hurt. Also, Elie gave his bread to his father even when the more logical thing to do was to keep it for himself since he was obviously the only one who had a chance at life then. In this
The similarities I took from the theme of The Count of Monte Crisco and a scene from Blessings are that they both have something to do with wanting to be free in a way. In The Count of Monte Crisco Edmond wants to get out of jail. In Blessings Jesse and Rene are climbing ridges and climb them and that is how he feels free.
In a way, these two stories are similar because both the authors had carefully chosen the words
The concept of revenge is one very known to human nature. Most people are familiar with the desire to get payback, though often individuals choose not to act on it as it is often a more fleeting emotion than lasting fascination. Being such a relatable and commonplace affliction, this feeling is also central in many works of fiction. The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allan Poe and The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas both share a common plotline as they explore themes of betrayal, deception, and revenge. The protagonists, Montresor and Edmond respectively, both set out to seek revenge against those who they feel have done them wrong. The writing styles share a similar dark tone as the ideas of justice and deservingness are challenged through the characters’ actions.

The two text are similar for various reasons. They are generally similar because they both have someone attempting to deny or rebel against society or government and they both get are unsuccessful and killed in the end. As seen in Harrison Bergeron this conflict occurs when Harrison
I suspect the similarities are easier to find by reading the play because the movie really shows their contrasts. There is one similarity in that when they really believe something, they are passionate about their cause.
Different books, despite different storylines, may still address similar themes. What similarities of themes did you find in your paired texts, and how are they obvious in the character's behaviour?
