Counselor’s role is to help individuals and families successfully cope with challenging emotions, mental health disorder, trauma, physical disabilities. The role of the individual or family is to identify goals on how to manage their stress and redirect negative. Howard and Ruth clarifies by stating “as with all mental health counseling, the starting point for healing begins with the relationship between the patient and health care professional (2008, p. 343).
Another role is to establish a therapeutic environment that endorses a client to initiate a self-exploration discussion. Counselors should emulate a variety of therapeutic characteristics such as warmth, empathy, acceptance (Sangganjanavanich, 2015, p. 8).

Marginalized feeling can be conceived in many forms. It is human nature (ego, self-esteem, pride, and self-determination) that prevent a person from asking for help during difficult times. The pathological stress accompanied with depression, confusion and the demeaning feelings when someone has been a productive member of society. An individual’s perceived lack of power, low self-esteem, and alienation in the face of a rigid system. Lack of understanding of the administrative process that makes decisions without the patients consent (Tucker, 2009, p. 240). What could you do to help decrease the feelings of marginalization?
Confidentiality is an important aspect to consider helping individuals through difficult times. Counselors must develop a relationship for collaborative intervention can contribute to higher quality of individual care when physical, emotional, and spiritual issues are treated together (Howard and Cox, 2008, p. 342).
