The purpose of this paper is to write my professional plan. This plan was written on July 1st, 2017. In this plan, it would detail the process I would take to accomplish my academic and career goal. I am currently working on obtain my degree in Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a Specialization in Trauma and Crisis Counseling. I also working on obtain my Master degree because I intend on advancing my career in the human and social services field as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor or a Behavioral Intervention Specialist. Additionally, my degree would serve as a transition credential for pursuing a Ph.D. in Psychology or in Counseling. My motivation to complete my degree and excel in the my career as a counselor is the individual I current work with and my family and friends supports. My twin brother is my biggest motivation, I see what he been through and he is working on obtain his associate degree in nursing. It would be held on July 27-July 29, 2017. It would be held at the Mayflower Hotel located at 1127 Connecticut Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20036. One of the topic that would be discuss at the conference is Medicare and how it would affect how a client would receive services. A professional topic I would like to present at a conference is Intellectual Disability and how childhood trauma affects their behavior. I would first like to improve my scholarly writing by participating in the Writing Center Webinar. I plan doing research and write article on how I can improve issues that are going on my community then I can go to different states to present my case. I would love to go back to my home country of Jamaica to see if I can help people in the community that I grew up in. I would attend any leadership training that are being held so that I can learn how to participate in leadership opportunities in my community. I had download the 2014 ACA Code of Ethics and I tried to read a page a day until I fully understand it and are able to remember it. I hope to achieve the goal of fully understanding the entire ACA code by the Summer 2018
