Power is a very tricky thing to deal with. With power comes great responsibility. I honestly believe that only corrupt people can’t handle power. A lot of people can handle power without plummeting the world into hell on earth. For example and better explanation we’ll take presidents into perspective. President Obama vs. President Trump, Obama was a humble down to earth human being, who showed his love through his smile and respect for America and it’s people through his words. Trump on the other hand isn’t as graceful, constantly degrading women, making fun of men and women with disabilities, treating his wife and children, I repeat, and children as nothing but sex symbols as trophies. All in all, a corrupt human being and you can tell by the way they act the way they handle their power affects the country. …show more content…
That positive energy not only won his campaign but also lingered on to the energy in the accompany. It helped him accomplish many things. According to Washington Monthly it helped him, Pass a health care reform, Bring troops home from Iraq for families, Eliminate Osama Bin Laden, Allow gay and lesbians to serve in the war, Kicked Banks Out of Federal Student Loan Program, Expanded Pell Grant Spending. The list could go on and on but for Trump he’s only done things to drive this country apart, like petition for a wall to be built to separate Mexico from America, giving hope to racist Americans to see less and less Mexicans in “their” perfectly white America. He also made sure we had guns, so that more irresponsible gun owners can take more lives. He even suggested to police that they use more force against the “criminals” like the amount of people killed in the last few years from police brutality isn’t enough. He even supported Roy Moore, a pedophile, in the Alabama senate
Power is a heady thing. It can enslave the minds of a single man or an entire empire. As human beings, we naturally like to be in control. But most times, power comes with a price. Power will corrupt anybody by putting power of family and forgetting your morals.
In conclusion, Power is a very dangerous thing. I am not saying anyone that has it is evil, but what I am saying is that listen to the movies and all the quotes that come from great minds. They all have one similar agreement and that is power in the wrong hands is dangerous. As we have seen power with senator McCarthy is bad and power with Abigail over the girls also ended up to being something
Possessing a certain amount of power is not a bad thing. It is the love for power and the desire for more that ends up eventually destroying one’s mind and body. The desire for power corrupts one’s mind and will cause them to make decisions that will result in the destruction of theirs and other’s futures.
The 100th year anniversary of The Declaration of Independence is here and the Nation is as united as it is equal. None. Although football games continue like Princeton vs. Rutgers the United states is in shambles. Following the war between the states a plan to reconstruct was put into place. It was proficient, effective, and controversial for many years. However, after the long Civil War and years spent to rebuild the Nation, the North Ultimately killed reconstruction because of government corruption, the focus change in North, and widespread racism throughout the nation.
Being president probably isn’t the easiest job. Here are some of my views on President Trump and Obama. There are many comparisons and differentiations between them. One being Trump wanting to get rid of programs, for example DACA for his budget plan, while Obama started it to help out, yet they both had the same idea to make the country better.
In a few days Donald Trump will become our president of the United States. Between Obama and Trump they are so much different Obama is a whole different person from Trump. I realized so much in these two from their speeches they did, from the way they talk, body language, and how they act around the press. I realized and i always knew that Trump would never make a good president just from speech. I have always liked Obama he did amazing things for us, he changed so many things in the US i am glad he was our president.
Is there corruption in your government? I am going to argue that the United States government is corrupt.
I believe the Constitution is too vague. The dilemma lies in the details or lack of details. If the objective is free speech, it is much easier to just simply say free speech then to try and express every single instance where free speech is and is not allowed. While vagueness does allow for flexibility, it also allows some corruption, but corruption only comes from those who abuse the system. One example of corruption is in December 2005, the American Civil Liberties Union reported what they believed was one of the worst abuses of the Constitution since 9/11, the National Security Agency tapped into telephone calls of American citizens without a warrant, which violates the Fourth Amendment.
People of power have the ability to protect the weak, enforce a moral code, and contain any outbreaks of anarchy there might be. However, as stated previously, when corrupt individuals rise to power they have the ability to destroy the weak, enforce their own personal agenda, and allow for immoral groups to run amuck. As the past has shown, when these evil men gain any form of power they tend to abuse it. We can all look at the actions of Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin, Kim Jong-Un, and Saddam Hussein, who all in their own way have abused the power given to them by the people. Some by imprisoning their own population, some by allowing millions to die of starvation so they could redirect money towards their own well being or agenda, and some by attempting to single handedly annihilate certain groups of
“All contributions by corporations to any political committee or for any political purpose should be forbidden by law” This quote from Theodore Roosevelt illustrates how corporate money can be disastrous when involved in election cycles. Unfortunately, this is not the case. The Supreme Court decided in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission that companies and Super PAC’s could donate unlimited amount of money to support candidates. The Citizens United ruling has caused increased political corruption in the United States by giving candidates the money they need to win an election while changing policies that would be beneficial to the company.
Sometimes people get so caught in their desire for power, that they begin to lose focus of the true things that matter. When someone has power,
reconstructed community thought that through social reform can prevent racial tension but writers were critical of President Roosevelt to find the culprits responsible for the riot.
Both of these presidents, former and current, have opinions on what America should be moving towards, to better the country. These presidents have both done their fair share for this country already, though Trump has only been in office for a year, while Obama has been in office for a full term, then was re elected for another. They both, though, like all things, have many similarities and differences, these things are likely affected by their party, and mindset, along with their personality. For instance, Obama is apart of the Democratic party, while Trump is apart of the Republican party, making their outlook on America and things like taxes and abortion, different. Differences
There is a famous quote by David Brin which states: “It is said that power corrupts. But actually it’s more true that power attracts the corruptible. The sane are usually attracted by other things than power.” This quote means that not everyone can be corrupted, but sometimes, people are too weak to handle the pressure. Additionally, power comes in many forms, but one way that really stands out is when it boils down to influence on other people. Furthermore, in real life and in novels, power often corrupts people and characters. In both the novels Lord of the Flies by William Golding and Catcher in the Rye by J.D Salinger, power has the ability to bring out the worst qualities in human nature in the antagonists, a concept that can be also be applied.
“Corruption, improper and usually unlawful conduct intended to secure a benefit for oneself or another its forms include bribery, extortion, and the misuse of inside information. It exists where there is community indifference or a lack of enforcement policies.”(Encyclopedia Britannica). Today political Corruption in all forms exists in every country in the world. In some countries it is more prominent then in others, but no matter where you go it still occurs. Recently in mid 2013 some political corruption was brought to light in New York. “Since 2007, state senators have been more likely to be arrested then to lose their seats in a general election,” (New York Public Interest Research group). In April of 2013 New York State
