Heart Attack
Introduction
It is not only the leading cause of death in the United States, but also it is the most common type of heart diseases. By killing nearly 380,000 people yearly, and that is about every 60 seconds someone dies from it. Yes, it is the heart attack or also known as coronary heart disease. Heart attacks occur when one of the coronary artery is blocked or narrowed by fats. After that, the blood clot will gather and block the narrowed artery causing a slowly painful death to the artery by decreasing the amount of oxygen, and replacing the live tissue with a dead one.
Symptoms
As we all know that heart attacks are a medicinal condition, and not every medical condition has a similar symptoms in its patients. For example, symptoms of the heart attack may differ from being an old person,

This is because of the lack of the oxygen. That is why we need to restore the flow of the blood as quickly as possible. There are two types of treatments. Medication or surgical procedure. For medication we have Aspirin, Thrombolytics, Anti Platelet Agents, Nitroglycerin, Beta Blockers, or ACE inhibitors. These medication play a main role in the flow of the blood. As for the surgical treatment, there are two procedures Coronary angioplasty or Coronary artery bypass surgery. As for the Coronary Angioplasty and Stenting or Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery. As for the Coronary Angioplasty and Stenting, a doctor may insert a thin long tube through the leg or the arm to the blocked artery. This thin tube comes with a special ballon. Once the tube reaches the blocked artery the ballon will inflate to open the artery. In the Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery a doctor perform an emergency bypass while the heart attack occur. In this surgery, the doctor connects an artery or veins that is located behind blocked one. By sewing the two artery the blood can flow easily passing the blocked
Heart disease is the number one killer in the United States, for both men and women. Heart disease is a heart condition that affects the supply of blood to heart muscles. Decreased heart function, chest pain, and heart attacks are a few of the major things that can be a result of Heart Disease.
Whether it is arteriosclerosis, congestive heart failure, broken heart syndrome, coronary microvasculature disease, or coronary heart disease, the National Institute of Health reports that "heart disease is the number one killer in the U.S.[and] also a major cause of disability." The good news is that there are things that can be done to lessen the chance of having a heart disease-related incident.
Nurse Driven Education for A Patient Diagnosed With Chronic Systolic Heart Failure Refusing Diagnostic and Interventional Procedures
As you can tell, the heart is an essential muscle for your body and has a lot of intricate parts. Cardiovascular health is extremely important, so it should be a priority to try your best to keep it healthy. One of the leading causes of death in America is Cardiovascular Disease. Cardiovascular Disease is a type of condition that affects the way the heart functions. One type of cardiovascular disease are heart diseases caused by atherosclerosis. Atherosclerosis is the buildup of fatty substances in the arteries. One disease caused by atherosclerosis is called
“Time is muscle” when it comes to cardiac. Heart attack patients are either non-STEMI or STEMI. STEMI stands for ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction. In patients who are non-STEMI’s, aggressive antiplatelet therapy is the primary treatment due to a soft clot or platelet plug. In patients that are a STEMI, reperfusion is the primary treatment due to a stable clot. There are two methods of reperfusion that are used: fibrinolytic’s or PCI (Percutaneous Coronary Intervention). For either STEMI or non-STEMI there is supportive medical therapy is used which includes Oxygen, Nitroglycerin, Morphine, Beta Blockers and ACE inhibitors.
Coronary artery disease remains number one killer of the western civilization despite 40 years of aggressive drug and surgical interventions (Esselstyn). Usually, pharmaceutical drugs, such as statin, are given to try to slow the progression, but may provide uncomfortable side effects. In fact, the majority of patients discontinue statins within 1 year of treatment initiation (Maningat). Furthermore, surgery is performed to circumvent clogged arteries and literally bypass the symptoms. In the last year, 500,000 coronary bypass procedures were performed (Swaminathan et al). However, these surgeries can have significant risks, including the potential to cause further heart damage, stroke, and brain dysfunction. Thus, it is evident that these way of treatments may not be enough on its own, and that getting to the
Coronary Heart Disease Coronary heart disease remains the most common cause of death in the United Kingdom. A statistic from the American Heart Association is that heart disease claims a life every 24 seconds. [www.americanheart.org] Another is that it is the largest single cause of premature death in the United Kingdom, responsible for 180 000 deaths annually. [www.americanheart.org]
According to the American Heart Association (AHA), heart disease ranks as the number one cause of death, worldwide. As the leading cause of death in the U.S., heart disease kills more than 375,000 Americans each year. Approximately 86 million Americans currently live with some kind of heart disease or negative consequences resulting from a stroke. Additionally, costs related to stroke and cardiovascular diseases totals more than $320 billion (including lost productivity and health expenditures).
According to Marise (2011), the most comment causes of cardiac failure are coronary artery disease which Mrs J does have. Cardiac failure occurs when the heart is unable to meet the requirements of the body’s demand and supply. By assessing Mrs J clinical manifestation I would say the severity of her heart failure is in Class IV (New York Heart Association classification). Class IV indicates severe limitation of physical activities and the patient’s symptoms are present even at rest. Looking back on Mrs J disease process, nurses should be able to conceptualize the clinical care needed for her. Well designed and implementation of care plan with the interventions would help to moderate her disease process and maintained her homeostasis of the
Karen Williams is at highest risk of having heart attack due to her personal and medical backgrounds. She is 46 year old, African woman which according to study published in New England Journal in 2009, Africans have much higher incidence of heart failure than any other races , and before age 50 heart failure rate is 20 times higher. She has a strong family history of cardiovascular disease. She lost her father and grandfather from heart attack that increases her risk of developing heart disease. Her obesity, smoking, high fat diet, lack of physical activity and a stressful job also contribute to her potential risk of heart attack.
When someone is possibly having a heart attack they should seek medical help immediately. They should call 9-1-1 and wait for paramedics to arrive. The patient should take their nitroglycerin and chew an aspirin if it is prescribed by a physician or a paramedic. Aspirin in the event of a heart attack will help the clot from forming more (Heart attack, 2011). If a patient is unconscious and it is suspected they are experiencing a heart attack bystanders should begin CPR until help arrives (Symptoms, 2013).
In the department of Cardiology coronary artery disease is a major disease in the world. Coronary artery disease is the damages of the hearts major blood vessel for fat deposits. (2017, April 26) Plaque restricts the blood flow to the heart, which in the end progresses to a myocardial infraction also know as a heart attack, which is another major condition in the department of cardiology. When a patient is suffering from CAD, they may experience angina (chest pain) in the thoracic region that could circulate to their arms and neck. Arrhythmia can also occur, whether or not if it’s fast or slow paced. A patients pulse could also change depending on what is going on with the patient at the time. When a patient has CAD (coronary artery disease), there are a few procedures that are required from them on a monthly to yearly bases. Cardiac Catherization is one which is a procedure performed by passing a catheter into the blood vessel to see if there is any blockage in the arteries. (2017)
A heart attack is a sudden and sometimes fatal occurrence of coronary thrombosis, resulting in the death of part of a heart muscle. It can also be called myocardial infarction, acute coronary syndrome, or coronary thrombosis. There are greater than three million cases just in the United States per annum.
Cardiac RRR with no murmur or gallops. A regular rate and .rhythm means the four chambers of the heart (atriums and ventricles) are working correctly mechanically and electrically. There is no evidence of abnormal cardiac function, indicating valve disorders, myocardial infarction (MI) or acute coronary syndrome (ACS). There are no signs or symptoms of shock due to sepsis from a perforated ulcer. These symptoms would include tachycardia and hypotension.
Cardiovascular disease is a life threatening disease. Some persons may know that eating certain foods can increase their heart disease risk but it is tough to change these eating habits. In this paper I will explain the necessary dietary practices that can be use to prevent cardiovascular disease. Once you know which foods to eat more of and which foods to limit, you will be on your way toward a heart-healthy diet.
