Coronary artery disease is one of the common forms of heart disease. It’s caused by the narrowing occurs in the coronary arteries so that reduces the flow of blood to the heart tissues. Through the artery is gradually narrowing because of a substance called plaque builds up inside the wall of coronary arteries, the heart may not get enough blood to work. In two of the diseases, coronary artery bypass graft surgery is better than angioplasty treatment. Coronary artery bypass is a surgery by using your vessels to repair the damaged arteries, but angioplasty treatment is using a human made tube to expand the damaged arteries. The benefits of coronary artery bypass surgery includes it has a lower death rate, especially among the “high risk” patients. And it’s reduced injury to the heart after the surgery. It’s a safe surgery to save our coronary arteries since it improves our survival rate and reduces the heart attack risk (benefits). However, angioplasty treatment has a risk after a long period of surgery. It helps to fix coronary artery disease at first for a short period. But after several years, your artery might start re-narrow or blocked again where your tube is hold, because of the blood clot clump together on the tube (risks). When a blood clot forms, it can block the artery to flow blood to heart (risks of angioplasty). It might cause heart attack or death. In conclusion, I personally prefer coronary artery bypass surgery than angioplasty

In February of last year my grandfather was having problems with his heart. He often complained about the feeling of pressure casting on to his chest so he went to the doctors in pursuit to figure out what is causing these menacing pains. One of the concepts related to this patient was culture. The patient is a rancher from rural South Dakota. Over the past couple years, the patient has begun to develop heart problems. Several months ago, it was recommended for the patient to undergo a coronary artery bypass graft. The patient refused the surgery because he feared that the ranch would suffer with him being gone during surgery. Therefore, for several months the patient’s condition continued to deteriorate. As a result, it was pertinent for that the patient to undergo the surgery this past week. The patient’s ranching culture lead him to refuse the treatment months ago because he feared that the ranch could not survive without him.
