Copernicus and Galileo
The chosen sources are considerably based on Copernicus and Galileo which further reflects the comparison and contrast between both the well-known personalities. However, the first selected source is "Dedication of the Revolutions of the Heavenly Bodies to Pope Paul III”, analyzed and constructed by Nicolaus Copernicus, 1543. Whereas, the second source is “Science and Scripture” by Galileo, 1957. The first source is a primary study. This source is produced by Nicolaus Copernicus. “I still believe that one must avoid theories altogether foreign to orthodoxy”, (p. 1) This observations are related to the results of the study and it does not make any opposed argument. Additionally, when considering the second source, the major point on the study is the conflict between science and religion. The study reflects a scriptural argument, where he argues about the salvation. Similarly, it has a theological argument that in such assessments it is quite proper to pay no attention to scriptural assertions. The source is trying to peruse the argument against the Copernican system. The writer’s tone throughout the study changes to some extend and it was not noticed as sharp or too much controversial. The source is making an astronomical observation and further argued to oppose. The organization of the argument was effective and helpful.
In the first source the usage of words are difficult and typical which might create problem in terms of understanding the concept and specific meaning of those used in scientific and philosophical terms for individuals who does not belong to the similar field. The author employs words such as ecclesiastical state. The effect of these words are the difficulty in understanding and observing the concepts. Whereas, the second source as a study’s author has used understandable words which have clear meanings along with the effective meanings.
