I wanted to become a cement mason because I love working with my hands and learning new things and bringing them to life. To become a cement mason, I recommend you have good hand skills and upper body strength and be very persistent with your work. Construction laborers have one of the highest rates of injuries and illnesses of all occupations. Workers may experience cuts from materials and tools, falls from ladders and scaffolding, and burns from chemicals or equipment. Some jobs expose workers to harmful materials, fumes, odors, or dangerous machinery. Workers also may experience muscle fatigue and injuries related to lifting and carrying heavy materials. The last job that I worked at was a Childcare Center. I was an employee at the center for around 2-3 years. I had a love/hate relationship for my job. I absolutely loved going to work every day to see the kids, but I also dreaded every day because of my director. You never knew if she would be in a good or a bad mood when you would walk into work. Everyone constantly felt as if they were walking on glass. Some days I would walk into work and she would be in a super nice mood and greet me and say “Hey Chelsea! How’s it going?”, etc. and then the next day you would walk in and tell her “Good Morning” or “Hello” and she literally would not respond.
