Over the last decade, the way we perceive computer networks in the world has drastically changed because of things such as remote access, web-based applications and wireless devices. Additionally, businesses networks around the world can be accessible virtually anytime from anywhere through assets such as Cloud Computing or virtual private networking (VPN). Today’s technology has been the savior to some of the world’s biggest problems in education, agriculture, transportation, Health Care and many more avenues and the main reason is because of the expansion and diversity of the Wide Area Network (WAN) networks. Wide Area Network (WAN) technologies has provide many ways to accelerate and optimizing business processes and procedures through Point-to-Point topology, Packet Switched, and Circuit Switched WAN protocols, circuits and types. The assortments of available WAN services and its costs usually depends on the geographical region and the available provider. A WAN is comprised of several computer networks linked together usually through or over the Internet and it’s used to connect other types of networks for businesses, campuses or government together such as Local Area Network (LAN) and its rudimentary equipment are a station and a node. To begin, the Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) is a protocol
contains the case narrative, related figures, and a set of questions and problems. These do not have one unique solution. There are too many alternatives when dealing with LANs, WANs, MANs, BNs, and the Internet, so a reallife network design and development problem can have several workable answers.

In today’s society, it is commonplace for one to be electronically “connected”, by using devices like computers, mobile smartphones, gaming devices, tablets or laptops. Typically there is some type of network, which enables us to be connected, such as a Wide Area Network (WAN), a Local Area Network (LAN) or even a Home Area Network (HAN). A WAN is the most expansive type of network commonly used, which can cover large geographical areas, usually by amalgamating multiple LANs. The most frequently used WAN is the internet, which many of us connect to daily. A smaller type of network is a LAN, most often used in the workplace to connect computers and devices in the same office or building, so users can collaborate and efficiently share resources.
CphoeniX Inc.'s Network DesignOctober 25, 2009Executive SummaryCphoeniX INC is a small organization that specializes in aircraft maintenance. The company's headquarters are based in Illinois; and they have facilities located in four other states as well. Each facility or office then consist primarily of four departments; maintenance, accounting, receiving, and shipping. Due to the breakdown of each department, and the multiple facilities, constant sharing of data, programs and various applications will need to be accessible over a Local Area Network (LAN); as well as over a Wide Area Network (WAN), and via remote access. The goals of the network, both LAN and WAN, are to allow for a secure yet easily expandable network, that allows
“Networks are all around us. They are in our walls, in the air. At schools, hotels, hospitals, even coffee shops. Always there, always on…This power exists today. In our routers. In our switches... . (Cisco, n.d.)
The trade school in the Springfield region has developed and implemented a WAN link to integrate with all sites as follows: Worchester, Boston, Sacramento and Los Angeles, for better communication purposes. The expansion of their networks has come with some difficulties in communicating from one region to the other, due to their IP address scheme, leading configured networks are not functioning as they should. However, xACME wants to upgrade and exchange their network infrastructure to became more efficient and more productive for all users.
The purpose of this project is to design a WAN (wide area network) using a Cisco Packet Tracer simulation. The Step by step instructions included in this project are designed to help provide an inside view of how to design any type of network using the Cisco Packet Tracer network simulation software. In addition i will also be looking at other software’s that are similar to the Cisco Packet Tracer and analyse the strengths and weaknesses of the software. I will also be looking into the types of network devices needed to design a WAN. Finally, I into the types of network architecture, network topologies and security management suitable for my design network project.

IT Systems and many other networking technologies have controlled a large section of our lives. A substantial amount of people rely on a form of these technologies in day to day life. Communication, transport, leisure, workplace, health and many other areas are now very reliant on these newer networking technologies.
The nature of the public network has changed. Demand for Internet Protocol (IP) data is growing at a compound annual rate of between 100% and 800%1, while voice demand remains stable. What was once a predominantly circuit switched network handling mainly circuit switched voice traffic has become a circuit-switched network handling mainly IP data. Because the nature of the traffic is not well matched to the underlying technology, this network is proving very costly to scale. User spending has not increased proportionally to the rate of bandwidth increase, and carrier revenue growth is stuck at the lower end of 10% to 20% per year. The result is that carriers
Advances in technology have encouraged progression of the internet and have sometime been a drive of development. The advert of broadband has allowed communications to be faster, which has facilitated the transfer of larger file such as sound and video. This ability marked the beginning of the modern era of sites such as YouTube and iTunes. When looking at the technical side, the internet is developing rapidly. The reason for this would be that the technology today. Such as windows 8, this has appeared on msn advertisements, which shows us a sneak peak of what is different about it from the previous windows 7. Because the internet has new ideas that are getting more and more to a
The Internet, a combination of technology, communication, and media, is a developing and unique medium in its infancy. Technology and tools of communication are still in the process of development as technology continues to advance. As a site of cultural, political, and ideological discussion, it has unquestionably contributed to a culture and lifestyle dependent on technology. The World Wide Web has reconfigured people’s perception of the world, allowing access to an extensive amount of information that previously has been inaccessible to them. In addition to enabling users to gain access to a plethora of information, the Internet is a tool of globalization in which ideas, knowledge, and thoughts are instantaneously shared on a worldwide scale. While some have portrayed the Internet as a powerful tool for free expression on the global network, others have highlighted the potential of networks with which the government can constrain the power of organizations through collective online actions and surveillance. With increasing advancements in technology comes greater and easier access to information and control. In a democratic nation, the Internet’s ability to facilitate access to information about another person violates privacy rights. With the Internet, existing laws are ambiguous about what standards apply for different kinds of surveillance.
Wide Area Networks constitute the next stage of MANs; interconnections between computer networks have no geographical limit and can extend to cities, prefectures, countries and the whole world. Through the usage of a wide
