Comparison of Colleges in Political Science and Government

In life, with the inevitability of time and aging, comes the process of maturing and moving forward on a path into the future. The most immediate and foreseeable destination along this route to maturation is college. Despite the obviousness in continuing education at a college, the “right” or most compatible college is often hidden among the numerous choices that are offered. Out of the multitude of available colleges and universities, the University of South Carolina and Clemson University provides a range of choices and options for large public universities with renowned football teams. Ogeechee Technical College and Southeastern Technical college are similar and many ways. They both have a diversity of students, have no housing options, have no student activities, have no athletics, and they are both public colleges. These are somethings that I am looking for but there are somethings that I would have loved for them to have. As a senior in high school the time has come when people begin to ask big and sometimes overwhelming questions like, “Where are you going to college?” and “What will be your major?” These questions, of course, lead to college visits and decisions. The two colleges that seem to meet my criteria are The University of Findlay and Ohio Dominican University. Both colleges have positive aspects, such as having the major that I am interested in as well as being close to family.  However, The University of Findlay seems to be a better fit than Ohio Dominican because it is closer to home and I am familiar with the campus and I grew up on this campus.

To choose a college of your liking you must rank your priorities, compare your financial aid packages, focus on your endgame, and also revisit your short list. A big school or small, public or private, urban or rural; these are just a few of the many difficult deciding factors I faced during my college selection. At the height of my selection process, I had applied to ten schools ranging across all those factors. I was completely unsure of what I wanted to do with my life yet and had no idea what type of school I wanted. My mind wasn’t set enough on the future and I was too worried about getting through high school and working my full-time job. As it got closer to spring, I had to start making some decisions. Ultimately, I narrowed my deciding process to three factors to specifically analyze to make the right decision. If they work full or part time they will have to figure out how to work in a school schedule. Depending on if they are single, married, or have children, also affects when, how, and where they can attend school. What activities and other obligations they have planned week to week also make fitting school time in difficult.
