Comparing Two Poems 'To James And Mother To Son'

In our small groups, we read 2 poems, named To James and Mother to Son. These two poems analyzed the fact that life won’t always be pure, but instead may be vigorous and tough. In line 2 of Mother to Son, it said, “Life for me ain’t been no crystal stair.” This deepened our understanding of how some people’s lives aren’t the same and just how challenging it can truly be. As for lines 15 and 16, it stated, “Don’t you set down on the steps, cause you finds it’s kinder hard.” This assisted us in understanding that sometimes when people try to turn back, they find it’s ‘kinder hard.’ For part 5 where the passage talks about the stairs having “Tacks in it in what, and splinters.
