Religion and philosophy have been argued upon throughout history. Philosophers and religious leaders have opposing views about how society should behave and be controlled. Just as there are many different religions, there are also many different philosophies each with their own idea about how society should behave and governments should rule. Each philosophy also has a different opinion of human nature. Chinese philosophy began in the fifth century BC with Confucius and changed and evolved as other philosophers built off Confucian ideas and challenged Confucian ideas. Confucius, Mencius, and Xunzi are three different philosophers from Chinese history who have three opposing views in their philosophical ideas of society and human nature. These three philosophies are Confucianism, Mohism and Legalism.
While there are many theories studied in sociology, there are a few that are more commonly referred to. Conflict theory, functional theory, and positivism are three very different, yet important focuses in the subject. Although seemingly different, they are all driven to explain human relationships in society. These theories are not only thought provoking, but easily relatable in today’s modern society.
I have decided to continue my education at Indiana State University because I have truly enjoyed earning my bachelor’s degree.
Why are you interested in attending the Undergraduate Interfraternity Institute? What do you hope to gain from this experience?
After having attended Illinois State University previously, I know that I want to return to finish my career there because it is what I have always wanted. Illinois State University inspires me to keep on fighting for what I want and need through the challenges that I have faced while being there, freshman part of sophomore year. After facing the challenges and having to attend another school, I learned the hard way what it really means to fight for what you really want. As I attended Heartland Community College after Illinois State University, I knew that that’s not what I wanted for myself and that I wanted to return to Illinois State University. Illinois State University is the perfect school for me because I know that the professors truly
Robin, I really enjoyed reading your post. I think you did a great job explaining the ways classical and modern day philosophies pertaining to crime are different. I found out that we agree on many points. For example, I agree that having multiple theories about crime is not a bad or negative thing, like you mentioned it gives us the chance to come up with new ideas and to also take other things into consideration. I also agree that science as well as the criminal justice system has come a long way when it comes to acknowledging the factors which may contributed to the crime being committed. Another thing we agree on is that all criminal offenders are different and have numerous reasons for engaging in crime. I think it depends on a person
With all of these unfair treatments of patients, it took a long time for laws to be established to protect the patient’s information. HIPAA was not created until 1996, the purpose of HIPAA is to protect all health care data for both the patient and provider. Along with HIPAA many other policies came about as well. According to Ingham-Broomfield (2017), one such policy is the Hippocratic Oath which is a guide for medical practice and states six bioethical philosophies of professional behavior that healthcare professionals should follow. The six philosophies are autonomy, justice, non-maleficence, beneficence, fidelity and veracity. As you can see in Henrietta Lacks, none of these philosophies were followed. The physicians didn’t give Henrietta
The Hoosier Life, one of the main reasons I decided to apply to Indiana University-Bloomington (IU Bloomington). I believe and support the idea that every day is a new adventure on a historic campus. After the completion of my two year associate from Oakton Community College I believe that IU Bloomington would be a great school to further my interests and get my bachelors in Management Information Systems. IU Bloomington takes keen interest in developing its students. I believe that such an institution would be the perfect place that would allow me to nurture my skills and talents. I have always loved a good challenge, and the rigorous coursework accompanied by my curiosity to know more would be the perfect place for my personal growth. Along
