The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe is a children’s novel by C.S. Lewis. It is an adventure and fantasy based novel about four kids (Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy) who go and live with Professor Kirke during World War II, finding this magical place called Narnia in a wardrobe located in an empty room. They go on adventures, save Narnia and become the rulers. This novel is very famous and loved by most children because of its action, and magical touch to it.
In my opinion, The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe is a very interesting novel that teaches children trust, honesty, the importance of teamwork, and responsibility. Edmund, Peter and Susan did not believe Lucy when she first told them about Narnia, they thought she was only telling

Later on Edmund does encounter a visit to Narnia, but he does not admit it or backup Lucy. I think that Edmund did not admit that Narnia was in fact a real place, due to the fact that little kids are known to use their imagination and he wants to look mature and not be thought to be a goose or still a little kid. In my opinion, I think that he was just afraid of what Peter and Susan might think. Lucy was probably chosen to be the one who entered Narnia first, because she is the youngest child and usually the youngest is the one who likes exploring the most, and has a big imagination. If Susan or Peter said that she/he went to Narnia they would believe them since they are mature and the oldest. The part that annoyed me the most was when Edmund abandoned his siblings and went to the white witch (p.91). Even though she did trick him, and made him be on her side in the beginning by giving him what he wanted not being aware of her evilness (p.37-38). I think that the author made one of the children to abandon the others, and then be saved and have Aslan go in his place when he was supposed to be killed for being a traitor (p.165/p.170), because then the significance of honesty and being trustworthy are shown. Even the idea
The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe is set in England during the 1940’s. During this time World War II was happening, and the air raids in London. During this time England was already in war and was suffering due to all the lives lost so far in the the war. Germany in 1940 and 1941 would blitz England without warning, Blitz is a German word meaning ‘lightning war.’ Not only were air raids happening but we're dealing with problems within their country. They were dealing with rationing, and still trying to get back on their feet from the Great Depression.
This is book number 2 in The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis. Now you have probably seen the movie but you should read the book also so that you can get a unique view into the universe of C.S. Lewis. You can also read the book together with your children so that you and your children are together about this great book. This will give you a lot of opportunity to be the adult and teach your children about more complex matters in life.
“The Magna Carta was a document issued by English noblemen who demanded rights from the king and limited the rights of the king’s power” (Source A). The document is important due to the fact that the Magna Carta influenced today’s society. Also, the Magna Carta is important because it gives everyone a fair opportunity, gives rights to every individual, and rights for a fair trial.
C.S. Lewis is one of the greatest authors in history. His books are still widely available and sold to many interested readers. In Lewis’ childhood, he experienced a tragedy that affected his belief in god; in his middle life, he mainly focused on college and his studies, but his father’s death played a role in Lewis later becoming a Christian. In Lewis’ later life, he married one of his own fans. Clive’s passion for writing began when he was a small child, and it continued to grow as he furthered his education to become a college professor at Oxford University. Lewis is still remembered today for his great works, such as The Screwtape Letters and The Chronicles of Narnia, which is a popular series among children.
Since the four children can be seen as symbolisms of human beings, their relationship with Aslan shows a lot about the grace, mercy and overall character of God. One of the main examples where this is seen is the grace that Aslan showed to Edmund who was a traitor. Despite Edmunds’ choice to prioritize Turkish delight over his family and his right as one of the king of Narnia, Aslan still accepted Edmund into his army and not only that Edmund still inherited the kingdom of Narnia not by his own works but by Aslan’s
Like most movies based on novels, there are some major differences between the written and the theatrical versions of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.
During World War One (WW1) various technological advances occurred and had a positive influence on warfare. People claim that the war was deadly due to the creation of new weapons and military tactics that were put into use. Although it can be seen as negative due to the number of casualties and the amount of conflicts that arouse, there were various benefits to the technological advances during the First World War, because trench warfare was introduced, new military tactics formed, and more efficient weapons were created.
My favorite character in this book would have to be Peter. He was a little bit of a tough guy yet timid, but wasn’t afraid to fight for his siblings lives. Peter was the oldest amongst his brother and two sisters and was most likely the brains and brawn of the bunch. In this story, Peter has to fight off a wolf to test his courage or, in Aslan’s words, win his spurs. He returns victorious and is knighted by the lion called Aslan. His brother Edmund, a very mischievous boy and a bother to his sisters Lucy and Susan, looks up to Him though he never admits to it. Peter was definitely the highlight of this book.
Authors use literary devices as tools throughout their novels, each in a variety of situations, serving various purposes. One of C.S Lewis ' notable attributes was his consistent use of religion throughout his work. Which thus begs the question: What is the literary function of religious allegory in the novel, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, by C.S Lewis?
“One day, you will be old enough to start reading fairy tales again” said by C.S. Lewis. People of all ages enjoy reading magical tales with mythical creatures. The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, written by C.S. Lewis, is a fictional novel that allows all audiences to explore their imagination. To take a further look into this novel, the world of magic is unearthed and adventures of the mind are explored. Within this book, religious meaning is uncovered in a innovative, relatable way that all readers can appreciate. Below illustrates personal connections to the character’s struggles, character’s feelings, and to my personal faith.
Unfortunately due to Edmund’s treason the Witch confronts Aslan and claims her right to Edmund’s blood as described in the laws (Deep Magic) of Narnia. “As a traitor Edmund stands condemned” (Ditchfield 62). This is also the case in the Bible; “All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart from the law” (Romans 2:12). Another Biblical text explains, “Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness” (Hebrews 9:22). The White Witch warns Aslan of the consequences of ignoring the laws of Narnia. “If this is not accomplished, Narnia will be destroyed with fire and water, which immediately reminds biblically literate readers of Noah’s flood and the prophesied final destruction of the Earth by fire” (Hinten 18). Edmunds sin can’t go unpunished and the penalty is
The 2016 Presidential race is unlike any other in American history. Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton has made history as the first female presidential nominee and has set an example for future generations of women, despite the controversy surrounding her career. Republican nominee, Donald Trump has made history as the first American Businessman and television personality to run for office, without any political experience. Although both nominees have significant strengths and weaknesses both are unlike any previous presidential candidates in American history. The winner of the 2016 presidential election will be Donald Trump simply because the American people value trustworthiness over experience, he is a successful businessman which could
An example is when in the three movies and the book series, Aslan is portrayed as a noble and powerful creation of Narnia. In the movies, Aslan is portrayed as king, protective, loving and even noble which is part of his character. In the book series, he is portrayed as a father figure to every character, talking to animals, playful and even having a sense of humor. For instance in the book, the Prince of Caspian, Aslan is shown as humorous when he attempts to make the Trufflehunter have belief in him through the picking of the dwarf with his mouth and giving a big shake. In the Lion, the witch and the Wardrobe, Aslan is portrayed as playful. This is seen immediately he comes back from the dead and begins playing with Lucy and Susan for them to try catching
Later on, one child’s disloyalty to his siblings becomes a huge problem. Aslan decides to risk his own life for the boy. All in all, good overthrows evil, and the children become kings and queens of Narnia in the end (Langford). Aslan proclaims: “Once a king or queen of Narnia, always a king or queen. Bear it well, Sons of Adam! Bear it well, Daughters of Eve!” (Lewis 182). The point for Lewis to write these books was as an effort to tell children the Christian stories. He makes examples in chronological order starting with the beginning of time, moves to the death and life of Christ, and finally the end of the world. For most people in this time, when they heard about God or Christianity, they did not want to listen. Instead of giving children ordinary Bible stories, he wrote adventures. He wanted them to learn and believe, as he did, that Christianity would always be there. He filled the books with fictional animals, and
