Comparing The Holocaust And World War Two

Mrs. Gies, along with her husband, helped bring the ones in hiding food, books, and news from the outside world (“Miep Gies, who hid Anne Frank, dies at 100”). She and her husband even spent one night in the annex with the rest of them. She recalled, “The fright… was so thick I could feel it pressing down on me” (“Miep Gies Biography”). After a little over two years of hiding, the people in the annex were discovered because someone betrayed them, and it is still unknown who betrayed them. They were all taken to concentration camps.

The only thing she had to do was study and write in her diary. She never goes outside and always has to worry about if their ever going to be discovered and killed. The Frank Family wasn’t the only ones that went into hiding in the “Secret Annexe”, also the Van Daans and Mr. Dussel, making a total number of eight. Their survival in the “Secret Annexe” was dependent on their helpers who brought them food, news from the outside, and books.

Many people were hurt by Adolf Hitler's plans and one thing he achieved was killing six million Jewish people including children. Anne Frank and her family were one of them. They lived in a secret and tiny annex where Otto used to work. They started off just going to stay there for a few months till the Allied Forces could invade Holland but that didn’t work out. In the drama wrote by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett eight people crowded into annex for 2 long years not being able to go outside. Many historical events were impacted in the drama Anne Frank. Even though these problems took place outside of the secret annex it changed the mood and relationships of the character.

Don’t you hate it when your family and strangers treat you in a harsh way. Anne Frank was treated harshly by some people in the secret annex people would yell at her call her spoiled lazy and was always telling her what to do. But some people treated her nicely like Peter VanDaan and her dad in a way that made her feel loved by some people around her. Anne was a twelve year old girl when she was forced into hiding because she was a Jew in Nazi territory during WW2. Anne is treated by the people in the annex in many ways and that effects her character in such a way that changes her character.

War warps a culture in many ways not just how they act during the actual war itself. It also causes a change in the people within the culture, their ideals, beliefs, and humanities. The Holocaust is a great example of a culture- warping event. Many who read of the Holocaust and study it in high school or college do not often see the after affects of the war on the people. Most of the victims of this horrible event that survived were in their teens or thirties. Many people downplay the event to be a tragedy in the past, when in reality it is still a tragedy that is still affecting our present today. When someone reads of the Holocaust most of the time, they will think about the people who died, but rarely will they consider those who survived. There are many survivors today who are not recognized for their struggles the face today, as well as the ones they have faced in their history. The after affects on these people is still prominent even today, through the low numbers in their population, and their psychological damage.

All around us people are being discriminated for what they look or act like, the color of their skin, religion, and language. During the civil rights movement the citizens of the United States were fighting over equality.Unfortunately, a few people might have said they didn’t want African Americans in their country and that opinion spread to other people and the world of the African Americans was completely turned upside down. There is a similar story sorta like the civil rights movement and it was called the Holocaust. The Holocaust was where at one point the Jewish religion was considered “racist” and needed to be treated differently from other religions. Although, the holocaust and the civil rights movement based around two different groups of people and what happened to those people both talk about discrimination of both groups.

“Nations not so willing at first have now reflected Matthew 21:29, and done what is right while we have reflected the disobedience in Matthew 21:30.” This quote means you have to reflect on the past in order to do the right thing in the present. The Holocaust and the Syrian genocide are both tragic time periods in the history of the world, however, these events differ in the goals of the perpetrators, in their impact on the world, and how they were resolved.

The Nazis stood by the unwavering belief that the Germans were racially superior and the Jews are being deemed as being inferior. During the era of the Holocaust, German chancellor at the time, Adolf Hitler hated the Jews as they dominated Germany’s many of Germany’s departmental stores, from small shops to big retail stores. Hitler also had an unpleasant experience with a Jew when he was younger, thus contributing to his hatred to Jews. Among the on million of the children killed was Anne Frank. Anne was a Jewish, teenage, girl who's family went into hiding. They stayed hidden for over two years in their Secret Annex. Over the course of these two years, she kept a dairy that has now been published. Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl had been translated into over 60 languages and is read and studdied world-wide. She began the dairy at age thirteen and wrote her last entree at age fifteen. The majority of her diary talks about her time spent in the Secret Annex which was the back part of a spice warehouse owned by her father previous to the Neurenburg Race Laws. The Franks lived with another family, the Van Dann's, and another man named Dussel. On August 4, 1944 German officers stormed the Annex and arrested all families. They were then taken to a transfer camp called Westerbork. They spent roughly one month there before being moved to Auschwitz, a consentration camp. Once off the train men, women, and childern were all separated. That was the last time Anne saw her Father, Mr. Van Dann, Dussel, or Peter. This is when the dehumanization began. People working the camps strped them of glasses, jewlery, shoes, and anything else that made them a individual. The Holocaust was a system established by the Nazis in World War II as a means to exterminate all of the people which they considered undesirable or subhuman. This included gypsies,minorities,cripples, the mentally ill, homosexuals,communists,and anyone who opposed the Nazi regime. The main target of the Holocaust was however the Jewish people. They were the main target because the leader of Nazi Germany, Adolf Hitler, believed that they were the reason for Germany losing World War 1 and thus was the reason that the German economy was in a bad state. Vladek Spiegelman and Elie Weisel were to people who were both survived their experiences in the Holocaust and both told their story in books. These books are Night by Elie Wiesel and Maus by Vladek Spiegelman.The Holocaust shaped these two different men's lives in the same way. Through their losses and experiences in this horrific point in time they learned what it meant to truly struggle and this ultimately turned them into better people.

The Holocaust was perhaps one of the most gruesome and horrific time period that the world has ever seen. The Holocaust was the time period when the Jews were being horrible treated and were being executed by German forces in World War Two. In several books about the dark and horrible time period, the authors used many different techniques to convey the central idea and the theme. However, the authors uses different techniques in different genres to get shoe the reader the central idea and theme. For instance, there are different techniques in historical fiction and nonfiction, but they both develop the same theme and central idea.

The Holocaust was one of the most despicable acts of crime committed in history. It was the slaughtering of six million Jews along with other minority groups. Anti-semitism was on the rise in Germany due to one man, Adolf Hitler. The Nazi leader is known to be one of the most infamous dictators that were able to rise to power. Leading Germany, Hitler improved the economy, started World War II with the idea of Lebensraum, and exterminated Jews due to youth anti-semitic influences.

Before WWII started Germany’s new dictator was starting a revolution. That only Adolf Hitler and his army knew about. The Nazis were what hitler’s army was called their job was to collect and kill as many Jewish people as they could. If anyone got in the way they were killed to. Hitler’s reasoning for killing all the jews he says they are the reason why they lost the first world war. How he killed all of these jews hitler and his nazis would force the jews to leave their houses and towns. Then he would get them all on a cattle car and take them to concentration camps. How hitler killed the jews were mostly gas chambers ,but he kept some few thousands to work or do certain things in these concentration camps. Some of those jews survived the holocaust to tell their story of what happened to them and their families.

If a death is preventable and one fails to prevent its occurrence, is he at fault? During and after the Holocaust, citizens of the United States pondered this question in the context of Jewish refugees murdered in Nazi Germany; ultimately, citizens remember this tragic genocide and promise it will not happen again under any circumstances, not only in America, but in other nations as well. Since the Holocaust, leaders and lawmakers in the United States have analyzed the causes that led to this event and designed laws and documents to prevent such an infraction of human rights from happening again. The long-lasting effects of the Holocaust, which expose the dangers of America’s isolation and conservative immigration policies, contribute to the liberalization of American immigration and increased worldwide instances of United States humanitarian intervention.

The Holocaust was a repulsive time where many Jews suffered miserably from Hitler’s concentration camps and millions died. I researched this topic because I had learned about the Holocaust a little bit over the years, but I wanted to focus primarily on the United States and if Roosevelt helped the Jews who were suffering or if he only focused on the needs of his own country. Before I started my research, I knew a basic amount of information about the Holocaust itself and what Hitler had done to the Jews, but I knew nothing about what effect FDR had on the prosecution of Jews. I chose this topic mainly because I found it interesting to learn about and I knew I would enjoy reading about the Holocaust but another reason why I chose to research this topic is because I am Jewish. My great grandma had experienced the great depression and had lived during that heartbreaking time period. I wanted to learn more about my history and what it was like to be a Jew back in the 1930-1940’s. It is hard to imagine the hatred some people had for Jews and how awful they treated them. Learning about the Holocaust made me thankful for what I have because millions of survivors were scarred for the rest of their lives and experiencing the pain and torture European Jews underwent is unimaginable. Living in America, I wanted to know if we had helped. I wanted to know if our country cared about what was happening in Germany and if they put in a lot of effort to stop Hitler from his horrible actions.
