Shakespeare is saying that two families which we know from reading the story are the Montagues and Capulets. They are both similar in many ways. They have equally high reputations in the City of Verona so therefore they are equally respected. We can tell from this that the play takes place in the city of Verona and based on further explanation we know that Verona was a city in Italy. We also can tell from the prologue that the two families hold a grudge between the other and this is a long occurring event as everyone from the families despises the other aside from Romeo and Juliet. We already know that they are well respected in the city of Verona so they probably fall under the rich. Knowing this we can say that their reputation is of the
In the play Romeo and Juliet, the parents expect hatred between both families. Growing up, the Montagues were always taught to hate the Capulets and the Capulets were always taught to hate the Montagues. The kids were always told that the other family is a bad family and that they would never
Have gangs changed from the way they were in Romeo and Juliet with the Capulets and Montagues? It really has not changed except for the advancement in weapons. Today in the United States their are thirty three thousand street gangs with one point four million members in total according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation ("Gangs"). " According to the 2011 National Gang Threat Assessment report, gangs are responsible for an average of 48% of violent crime in most jurisdictions, and up to 90 percent in others" ("Gangs").
The feud between the two families is a reason that they are responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. The Capulet’s hate the Montague’s so much that Juliet could not tell them that she loves Romeo. Document A states, “From ancient grudge break to new mutiny” (Document A). Meaning that the two
An everlasting conflict between two families, Montague and Capulet. What started this inclining depth of mutual hatred, and can it still be considered as the reason for their bickering. The effects of this dispute are even more widespread today, leaving more and more people wondering of the cause.
Most of everyone knows the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare. If you have ever read it then you know how it ends, or if you have ever heard about it you know how it ends. What I want to know is why? Why the two forbidden star crossed lovers took their own lives, but there is no answer for that. There is also no answer as to why the two families, The Montagues and The Capulets could not get along. It took the tragedy that had occurred for them to become civil with each other. In my essay I will be discussing how the two star crossed lovers got along with their parents and if they were rebellious in the modern sense. Along with how their parents felt about them.
Humanity’s susceptibility to its primitive impulses is what ultimately facilitates an ancient feud between Capulets and Montagues to remain prevalent to a contemporary generation of characters. Within the introductory scene of the story, two members of the Capulet family, Sampson and Gregory, indirectly introduce a conflicted reality of two families, Capulets and Montagues. Both families are established as parallels of social dignity and resultantly, are also depicted as natural rivals and competitors. Upon noticing a member of the Montague family, Abram, Sampson and Gregory are compelled to insult and intimidate him as it, “is [a] disgrace to them to bear it.” The Capulet’s intention to create tension between the families exemplifies how
Chorus states (or sings), “Two households, both alike in dignity, in fair Verona, where we lay our scene from ancient grudge break to new mutiny where civil blood makes civil hands unclean”(pg. 771) Even from the start of the play, it was known that there was a hatred between the two. It is unhealthy for two groups of people hating each other like that. This creates children to not be able to make their own decisions and go behind their parents’ backs like they did. At the Capulet party, Romeo states, “Is she a Capulet? O dear account my life is my foe’s debt.” (pg, 790) Even at the very start when Romeo found out Juliet was a Capulet, he was upset. This hatred has made these kids’ life very difficult for them to do what they want. This feud between the two basically created the play. Without the feud, there would be no “Romeo and Juliet” it would just be another story about how two people fell in love a long time
The Hostility Between the 'Montagues' and the 'Capulets' in Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare William Shakespeare’s play ‘Romeo and Juliet has a major theme of conflict. The main conflict in the play is the feud between the two wealthy families: the ‘Montagues’ and the ‘Capulets’. Shakespeare does not state the reason for the hostility between the two families. Shakespeare may have done this to indicate how long the feud has been going for. Shakespeare creates conflicts between characters in the play.
Meaning that in the story Juliet was a Capulet, and Romeo was a Montague, their families were enemies, meaning
Juliet Capulet, the heroine of Romeo and Juliet, and Yukiko Amagi, a playable-character from the Persona 4 series, are two very different characters who could not be in a more indistinguishable situation. The two individuals grew up very similarly, have comparable personalities, and learn to live for themselves. In a like manner, both characters commence to realize that they must live and make decisions for themselves. In a similar fashion, Juliet and Yukiko’s personalities have a strong resemblance to each other leading to their feelings and actions to correspond to one anothers’.
The difference between the book and the movie of Romeo and Juliet are subtle but there are changes but nothing too drastic.
The quote shows the behaviour of the society where this took place. Since there is a big feud in the middle of the streets, this means that there has been a rivalry between 2 groups for a long time and this also shows that Verona’s citizens have a lot to do with the Montagues and Capulets because of their reactions. In a normal society they wouldn’t be cheering the fight on instead, they would be trying to break it up.
Three months ago, I was entrusted with the crucial duty of determining who was to blame for the tragic death of Romeo Montage and Juliet Capulet. Today I present my findings. I have come to the decision that Romeo Montage is responsible for the death of these two star-crossed lovers.
Leonardo DiCaprio suited his role of Romeo Montague because he easily managed to relate to Romeo as a character because Romeo is a young character in Shakespeare’s original play and at the time when the movie was made, Leonardo was young, making it easier for him to portray Romeo. Juliet Capulet, who was played by Clair Danes, was portrayed very successfully because Claire Danes was still pretty young at this point and all she had to do was act like a love-struck teenager. Juliet had never been in love and Romeo ached to be loved. Leonardo and Claire had to specifically use their emotions to capture their characters because they both had to display a variety of emotions in order for the audience to fully relate to the film. Juliet was innocent
Lord Capulet from Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet is a bad father to Juliet because he doesn't care about his daughter, he threatens his daughter and also never talks to his daughter. Firstly, Lord Capulet is a bad father because he does not care about his daughter. Capulet states “I’ll give you to my friend, and you be not hang, beg, starve die in the streets” (3.2.200) this example shows that Lord Capulet does not care about Juliet. Secondly, Lord Capulet is a bad father because he threatens his daughter. He threatens his daughter a lot throughout the book but the one that stands out is when, Lord Capulet States “Graze, where you will, you shall not house with me”.
