Romeo and Juliet is a romantic tragedy written by William Shakespeare. Romeo is the son of the Montagues, and Juliet is the daughter of the Capulets. Romeo and Juliet fall in love at first sight. Romeo and Juliet can't tell their parents of their love because of the quarrel between the two families. These star-crossed lovers take their own lives. With all the deaths, who is truly to blame for Romeo and Juliet’s death? The essential causes for Romeo and Juliet’s death could have been the Capulets, Friar Lawrence, or Romeo and Juliet themselves. The Capulets, who are Juliet’s parents were partially responsible for the star crossed lovers death. It seems that Lord Capulet is more responsible for Romeo’s and Juliet’s death than Lady Capulet. Juliet recently lost her cousin Tybalt because Romeo stabs him. Romeo is full of enrage because Tybalt kills Mercutio. In Act 3, the Prince exiles Romeo from Verona because he was culpable of Tybalt’s death. Romeo is sent to Mantua and he is never to be seen again in Verona. However, many actions of people increases the chance of them taking their own lives. The Capulets should have paid more attention to Juliet’s wishes (to not marry Paris) when she refused to marry him. Furthermore, to make life easier in Verona, the Capulets and Montagues could have put an end to the family feud. Friar Lawrence should have delivered the letter to Romeo himself, rather than handing it to Friar John. If the Friar brought the letter himself, he would’ve known that Romeo received the message.
