This is real. Women don’t get paid the equal amount as men do. Women are paid on average only 77% of what men are paid. Their median pay was only equal in personal care and service work as of 2009. The Fair Pay Act of 2009 prohibited gender based discrimination between men and women who perform the same skill, job, or responsibility. For example, the U.S. women’s soccer team is way more successful than the U.S. men’s soccer team. Still, the women’s salary cap is 11 times less than than the men’s salary cap. The U.S. women’s soccer players still fight for equal pay.

Your age is not any ordinary number, but it is more than just a number. The gender pay gap increases with your age.
The US women’s soccer team are only paid about a fourth of what the men are paid, even though they actually preform at a level well above that of the men’s, and create more income for the corporation; In fact, the women’s soccer team made approximately $20 million more money in revenue than the men’s soccer team ("U.S. Women's Team Files Wage-discrimination Action vs. U.S. Soccer"). Another instance of the men’s team earning more money than the women’s team unfairly is that the women were only paid $2 million dollars total when they won the world cup in 2015, while the men’s team (who got to round 16 before they lost) were paid a total of $9 million dollars ("U.S. Women's Team Files Wage-discrimination Action vs. U.S. Soccer"). That means that the women’s team was paid approximately 22% of what the men’s team was being paid, creating a wage gap that is even larger than what the one from the 1960’s. If you go by the logic of paying someone based on the worker’s effort and skill, as it is stated in the Equal Pay Act, than the women’s team should be paid significantly more than the men’s team, not the other way

The Equal Pay Act has been a law since 1963; for over 50 years this law has been in effect, yet women are still paid less than men in today’s society. The law states “No employer…shall discriminate…between employees on the basis of sex by paying wages to employees…at a rate less than the rate at which he pays wages to employees of the opposite sex…” (The Equal Pay Act of 1963)

Not only is gender discrimination seen in sports, but it can be witnessed in regular jobs as well. Just like the story of Cassandra, women of all educational levels can experience a wage gap. One might imagine that with a great education, breaking the stereotypical gap would be possible, but the reality is that even with education women find it hard to break the the wage gap. According to the Pew Research Center, women in the U.S. who work full time are typically paid only 77 cents for every dollar paid to their male coworkers make. Even when women earn a Bachelor’s degree, they still make less than what men with the same degree make (about $51,681 vs. $52,072). In some cases men with only a high school degree typically make more than women
Everyone has studied history throughout their educational years. They talked about the rights men had and what the rights women didn’t have. Now you would think that everyone is paid equally, well that’s not true. The U.S. Women’s Soccer team has been fighting for equal pay to their male counter parts since the beginning of the year 2016. They have made videos and had many of interviews about their fight. The way to fix this problem is to continue to fight to have equal pay to their male counterparts.
Equal Pay? What is equal? Don’t we all get paid the same? In today's society everyone, no matter the sex or the gender should be getting pay the same amount of money. Those question have been brought up throughout our lives, at least once you heard about it. Equal pay requires both sex to get paid in an equal amount. Equal pay for equal work is the concept of labor rights that individuals in the same workplace be given equal pay. In today's society we are facing issues with equal pay. Many believe that men are payed more than women. Discrimination can also play a big role of equal pay.
However, the wages men and women earn are based on the choices they make for their career (Schow). Studies have shown that women more likely pursue lower-paying occupations, such as teaching and social work (Miller, Pay Gap Is Because of Gender, Not Jobs). Lower-paying jobs often have flexible working hours (Schow), meaning that a person can work part-time, have weekends off, or take temporary career breaks. Unlike men, women are more likely to take time-off from work, for maternity leave and to raise their children. This raises the question on whether or not women deserve equal pay, if they work less hours than men. Does taking time-off and wanting to work lower-paying jobs make women less hardworking than men?
In 2015, the Women’s National Soccer Team won the World Cup. In 2016, the Women’s National Soccer Team made it to the Olympics. The New York Times showed that in the past four years, the Women’s National Soccer Team had 88 wins while the men had 44. Despite their advance in victories, the women are still getting paid much less that the men. Would you want to be paid less than someone else that is doing less work than you? In the National Soccer league, women should be paid at least the equal amount as men do because the NWSL has more hard working and determined players than the men.
There is nothing greater than the honor of being born a man. The invisible privilege of being a man is something that is not mentioned publicity, for the upset masses would revolt. One wonders why women even choose to be born as a woman instead of the superior gender. It is possible that women wish to play life on hard mode, for what fun is there in the life where everything is handed to oneself? One can just call up the local Water Buffalo Lodge and ask them for whatever they need. Does one wish to make more money? There is a shiny new job awaiting. Does one desire to go on a fifth vacation this year? Go ahead, they will have someone to fill in while you are gone. Women may be onto something here, for it might be too easy to be a man. In the western world, it is believed that men have a tangible and perceivable advantage over women, yet the opposite holds more truth.
I am a 10th, almost 11th, grader at the San Diego Jewish academy. For my final project in history class we were told to write a business letter regarding a topic that we find very problematic in our society. As a teenager who is going to get a job soon, I am especially aware of a major problem in our society, the wage gap between men and women.
Women has accomplished a great progress on the fight for equality throughout the history until today. In today’s society, women have the chance to explore their opportunities and do whatever they want, higher education and the opportunities are limitless. They can even run for the president and become a CEO of huge companies. On the other hand, in some other countries women still does not have the same rights as men in many different ways. They have several restrictions and expected to take care of the house. One of the most important inequality that many people that are still debating is the pay gap between men and women in the similar jobs. The biggest reason that I think women are underpaid is because their abilities are often underestimated.
