Introduction:
Ron Rash once said “I have to come to understand the world will have its way with us despite what we might wish, or might believe.” Ron Rash had similar experiences to both of the authors’ Elie Wiesel and Edgar Guest, since they both had something relating to never giving up even if times are hard and you may not survive. The two poems “Night” and “See it Through” are both great pieces of writing and have similar and differences in their writings’ such as for tone, and imagery.
Paragraph 1:
“Night” by Elie Wiesel the two authors’ use of imagery is similar because they both include visual imagery. An example of this similarity in “Night” is “Her little boy was crying, clinging to her skirt, trying to hold her hand.” The imagery he includes helps to create a visual of the mother and son. An example of this is in the poem “See it Through” by Edgar Guest is “Black may be the clouds about you.” The imagery by Edgar Guest uses makes the reader visualize the clouds and how black they are and how they are above you. Both of these pieces of writing use similar

An example of this difference in the novel “ Night” is “Too late to save your old father . . .” . This tone conveys attitude toward his experience during the Holocaust because it makes the Eilizer wanna give up on his father, and think that since these things that happened to him make it ok for him to just let his father die. An example of this in the poem “See it through” is “Don’t give up, whatever you do; Eyes front, head high to the Finish. See it through!” This tone expresses the author’s feelings toward fear by making the audience wanna be more headstrong and make them feel like they could do anything they
In the novel Night by Elie Wiesel and the article “War Changed My Dad” by Michelle Crouch the two author’s use of imagery is different because one used visual and the other used auditory. An example of this difference in Night is visual. The imagery Elie Wiesel includes helps to create a picture in the reader's mind. An example of this in the novel is line 68. The imagery Michelle Crouch uses makes you imagine sounds. For example, “When the helicopters carrying the troops roared overhead, everybody cheered.”
The novel “Night” by Elie Wiesel is a memoir of a Holocaust survivor that describes the hardships and suffering that he and his father had endured for years. Eliezer and his father were on their journey to the camp Buchenwald and had witnessed many acts of desperation from the Jews. In this scene Eliezer shows the audience that during desperate times it is every man for himself, peoples basic human instincts for survival had come out and the vitality left in them was shown through selfish decisions
In the novel Night by Elie Wiesel and the poem “See It Through” by Edgar Guest the two authors imagery is different because hey are at different position in life.Initially this difference in Night is on page nineteen Elie said “They were the first faces of hell and death.” This imagery helps show how scary the camps are.Additionally in the poem in stanza three it says”Eyes front, head high to the finish.” the imagery helps you feel confident about what you are doing.
Elie Wiesel uses several types of figurative language in Night. In his novel, Elie’s use of symbolism is most important in helping the reader understand the horrors of his experience during the Holocaust.
Elie Wiesel’s book “Night” shows the life of a father and son going through the concentration camp of World War II. Their life long journey begins from when they are taken from their home in Sighet, they experience harsh and inhuman conditions in the camps. These conditions cause Elie and his father’s relationship to change. During their time there, Elie and his father experience a reversal in roles.
By looking at Elie Wiesel’s Night, one can see through the use of the motifs of eyes and night the struggle to maintain faith in cruel and trying situations, which is important because faith is part of what makes people who they are and losing it can deeply change a person.
And without these men’s stories these events would never have been available to the public or be understood how they are today. The book Night expresses what happens to a young boy as his family and innocent life is stripped right from underneath him. Ellie’s use of “taut style and emotional restraint make his experiences even more believable and frightening” (Winters 1). Wiesel’s need to survive created the true motivation for him to stay alive and write his memoire of his
People have survived many situations throughout the years. Some of the these situations have been life threatening and some have not been that bad. These situations have left people wrenched, mortified, and distressed. Elie Wiesel in Night is innocent, desperate, and numb. Overall, Wiesel is left broken. Night was written by Elie Wiesel and the book is about his personal experience about being a victim of the Holocaust.
The Night is a heartbreaking memoir of Elie’s experiences during Holocaust. In many ways, Elie’s book relates to Emily Dickinson's poem, “Crumbling is not an Instant’s Act.” Dickinson writes about how people don’t fall into ruin and despair instantly. According to Dickerson, people gradually decay just like how Elie gradually lost his faith and humanity. In “The Night,” there are three scenes Elie illustrates that show the readers that Elie has lost his faith in God and humanity.
“I won’t give you more, more than you can take and I might let you bend, but I won’t let you break.” Elie Wiesel has an unbreakable personality, but he was certainly tested when God put him through the Holocaust with the knowledge that he had the physical and mental strength to get through some miserable times and impact the world with his story. In the book “Night” by Elie Wiesel, the main character, Elie, experiences great change through his horrific and scarring adventures that he endures at the Auschwitz concentration camp.
Strong bonds built upon trust and dependability can last a lifetime, especially through strenuous moments when the integrity of a bond is the only thing that can be counted on to get through those situations. In Elie Wiesel’s memoir, Night, he writes about his life spent in the concentration camps, while explaining the experiences and struggles that he went through. Although, not everything during that period was completely unbearable for Wiesel. At the time when Wiesel first arrived at the camps, the fear instilled in Wiesel and the loneliness he would have felt forced him to form a stronger attachment to his father. That dependence towards his father gave Wiesel a reason to keep on living. In turn, his
Every man, woman, or child has his or her breaking point, no matter how hard they try to hold it back. In Night by Elie Wiesel the main theme of the entire book is the human living condition. The quality of human life is overwhelming because humans have the potential to make amazing discoveries that help all humans. Elie Wiesel endures some of the most cruel living conditions known to mankind. This essay explains the themes of chapter one, chapter four, chapter eight in Night by Elie Wiesel.
Bravery is not inherent, it is rather acquired from the circumstances or situation faced in the life. People face lot of problems in their lives and to cope with those situations and move in with one's life is the sheer example of being brave. The same has been depicted by both the authors in their respective books. First by Kaye Gibbons in her very famous book "Ellen Foster" where in the protagonist is shown as homeless girl with no one to take care of, yet she finds a way to live her life and find herself a house worth living. Second, by Mark twain in his
“To live is to suffer, to survive is to find some meaning in the suffering” (Nietzsche). This quote, said by the German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche, describes the desire to survive that was inside of Elie Wiesel in his story. The book describes Elie’s late teen years when he was sent to a concentration camp by the German government. In the book, he is separated from his whole family except for his old father, and both are put to work inside of the camp. As Elie suffers through the camp, his faith and his life face many tests and trials. There are many instances throughout the book when people die or when somebody loses their faith. The theme of the book Night, written by Elie Wiesel, is survival, as shown by the death of many Jews during the Holocaust, people willing to do anything to survive, and people’s faith not surviving the traumatic experiences of the concentration camps.
Night by Elie Wiesel is an autobiography about his experience during the Holocaust when he was fifteen years old. Elie is fifteen when the tragedy begins. He is taken with his family through many trials and then is separated from everyone besides his father. They are left with only each other, of which they are able to confide in and look to for support. The story is told through a series of creative writing practices. Mr. Wiesel uses strong diction, and syntax as well as a combination of stylistic devices. This autobiography allows the readers to understand a personal, first-hand account of the terrible events of the holocaust. The ways that diction is used in Night helps with this understanding.
