When you hear the word slave or servant, the first thing you think is they are exactly the same, but that is completely false. A slave is a person who is legally a person’s property. These people are put against their will just to do some chores for their owner. Even though some owners are nice to their slave most of them beat them or treat them like they are nothing. While being a slave you don’t get paid a single penny which can be hard if you have a family that you have to take care of. On the other hand while a servant is very similar to a slave they aren’t treated as harshly. While a slave is getting nothing, most if not all servants get at least a little money out of it. While almost all slaves are treated like property most servants are treated like human being, even though they are both doing jobs for their boss/owner.
Isabel’s mom is always in her mind which helps her get more and more of bravery. Isabel’s mom is always trying to get the good out of Isabel even if she nots with her. Momma helps Isabel understand how to be brave when evil is near. Saying this would help Isabel understand how even though people might have evil in them always be brave. I you were to ask a slave what freedom meant to them it would differ from what it means to a Patriot or a Loyalist. A Patriot or a Loyalist would say freedom is not paying taxes or having a different government then the British, but that’s not exactly veritable. While this is mostly what a Patriot thinks, Loyalist have no problem being ruled by the British, but just don’t wwant to pay taxes, or have their own Parliamentary. Slaves on the other hand see freedom as more of not being treated as property or being able to do things for themselves. So while the Patriots and Loyalist think of it as a community, while slaves see it as a person stand
